  1. Carroll went 0-3 against Homestead, Snider, and Dwenger. They will be hungry for a win in the tournament. Noblesville might be the best 1-7 team of all time. Sectional 3 will be fun.
  2. I'm not picking on Gipper's "have a life" comment, but I think about the following all the time. Someone once asked me............."you go to high school football games? You don't have any kids there? That's weird." My comment back................."you go to NFL games? You don't have family or friends who play on the Colts? You actually wear a jersey with another man's last name on the back? That's weird. Furthermore, you just dropped $500 on a game so that some player can drive home in HIS lamborghini, going home to HIS million dollar mansion, right after blowing a wad on booze and God only knows what else. The game I went to on Friday not cost me $0 in parking, $6 to get in, $5 for drink and food, and my money went to support LOCAL high school athletics." When you go to an NFL game, you are supporting the lavish lifestyle of the owners and players...................no thanks, give me high school football all day long.
  3. Won't know who the best conference is until after the tournament. But if I were to guess.............HCC, MIC, SAC............in that order.
  4. Thirty six more points and a couple of defensive stops and I think Snider can take down Homestead. Should be a good game.............if it happens. Carroll will have something to say about it.
  5. You didn't exactly nail Carroll either. Snider finishing fourth? That's a bold prediction. I think most people who follow football knew that Dwenger would be good this year. Anyone who follows Luke Goode knew Homestead would be good this year. All in all? You nailed the top 2, so good for you. But..................some luck was involved. In my opinion, Dwenger should have beaten Homestead. The outcome of the Snider/Dwenger game may or may not have been different if the game weren't played in a monsoon. Didn't see Carroll/Dwenger, but it looked like that game could have gone the other way. Carroll/Snider could have gone the other way. Anyway, the season played out and Homestead and Dwenger finished 1 & 2...............well deserved by both teams and well done on your prediction. Kudos to you, but many people could have made that prediction. What most impresses me about your poll was your prediction that Northrop would finish 5th. Good job on that one.
  6. Baseball is different than football. How often does the team with the best record win the World Series? If seeding didn't make any sense, no one would do it. It makes tons sense, which is why everyone does it. Indiana high school sports is the exception.
  7. Seeding seems to make sense in every sport at every level with the exception of Indiana high school sports. That being said, it's hard to claim that our system is the best. Let's be real here. The reason we do the blind draw is because it's easy.................it requires little thought and hardly any work. Name another sport at another level where the regular season means nothing.
  8. No doubt there are flaws with Sagarin. If it were to happen, the Sagarin would have to be used in conjunction with the AP Poll, Coaches Poll, and Gridiron Poll. Yes the Gridiron Poll. The IHSAA want's to pretend that this site doesn't even exist. But the reality is that it does exist and it's the largest of it's kind in the country. If the IHSAA wasn't so bullheaded, they'd come on here and take away some pretty good ideas. Unfortunately, it won't happen. The seeding won't happen. And if it does, it will be done their way. It won't have anything to do with the Sagarin because it wasn't their idea. The combination of the four would be my idea.
  9. I like his thought process, especially now that he is at Mt. Vernon. But I think most coaches would probably disagree with him. Most schools will balk at the idea of traveling three hours right out of the gate. Now, seeding the sectionals the way they are? That's doable...........................and it makes sense. If it doesn't make sense, I'd love someone from the IHSAA board directors to come on here and explain to us why.
  10. Thanks for putting this together, make for good conversation.
  11. Great match-ups again. Snider vs Penn Westfield vs Warsaw Carroll vs Merrillville More exciting than seeing the same match-ups over and over again.
  12. And how many showed up for that game? One thousand at most? Two 9-0 teams may have drawn 4000-9000. Big difference in revenue. The IHSAA is costing it's own schools thousands of dollars. Lol, seeding makes sense, it's not that hard to understand the benefits.
  13. Bla, bla, bla.....................you sound like a head coach trying to say the "right" thing. The two best teams shouldn't have to play each other in the first round. They've earned the right to play a a couple of more weeks, therefore bringing in more $$$ for the athletic department. There has to be a reward for hard work. Not to mention, those two 9-0 teams are going to be a HUGE draw in the sectionals drawing fans from other programs. Gate revenue is kind of a big deal.
  14. Thanks. I wanted to mention a RB that played against Snider in the 92' semi-state but couldn't recall the name. It was Jamaal Williams. He was a beast. Not sure how Snider held that team to 7 points.
  15. No thanks, that leaves Carroll out. I don't mind the all-in format because there is no way to know 100% who the top 16 teams are. Seeding should be considered though. No point in the best teams playing in the first round....................and please don't give me the "we have to eventually play anyway" BS.............because that's exactly what it is. Seeding rewards good programs for a job well done in the regular season.
  16. Rivalry week is Week 7, but I agree, this is the best rivalry in the SAC and always has been. Snider's strength is their offense and Dwenger's is their defense. I see a low scoring game with Snider scoring just a few more points.
  17. Agree, they need a big time opponent or two in the regular season. They used to schedule with Snider, but the SAC is an island conference again.
  18. I would like to see what it would look like if you seeded it by North and South. Although I do like some of the match-ups. Warsaw vs Center Grove Carroll vs Lawrence Central Merrillville vs Pike
  19. Keep going, those all sound like topics worth discussing. That's what we do on these forums.
  20. Can't argue with any of that. I just get tired of watching rematches from a few weeks prior. I'd much rather see Snider draw Merrillville or Laffayette Jeff than a potential rematch with Homestead. Or how about Homestead vs Carmel. The greyhounds had their way with Homestead several years in a row. I'm sure Homestead would LOVE a crack at them this year.
  21. I actually like the post. The travel for some teams would be excruciating, but it would be fun to see some of these North/South match-ups that would otherwise never happen.
