  1. I would love to see Meyer at USC. Anything to beef up ND's schedule. Teams on ND's schedule seem to be cursed. I'm sure Wisconsin will be down next year and the year after. Ohio State and Clemson should be down in 2022. Alabama will slide by the time 2028 gets here. Seems to be the norm.

That's correct. When ND travels to California, it's always the final game. This year it's at Stanford, next year is at USC. When those teams travel to South Bend, it's always mid season.
  3. Meyer is still a great coach, don't get me wrong. USC + Meyer would be dangerous. With the talent California has, all it will take is a top 20 coach to put that team back in the playoffs.
  4. No. Absolutely not. Kelly has put a better product on the field than Meyer (the last couple of years) has despite higher academic standards to get into the university. The only thing that separates Meyer from Kelly is the quality of recruits, due mainly as a result of Notre Dame's admission requirements for it's athletes. In fact, if Kelly jumped ship to Ohio State, I think people in Ohio would forget who Meyer was. People forget how great of a coach Kelly is. He's coaching at a University that most coaches run from. In order to win championships, you have to have access to the best recruits in the country. Notre Dame is at a disadvantage there. What Kelly has done is nothing less than remarkable. It would be fun to see what Kelly could do at an Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, USC, Texas, or Florida. But it won't happen. He's Notre Dame through and through. He's catholic. He's a long time fan of the University. And he upholds and respects Notre Dame's high standard for it's athletes, acedemics, and playing by the rules. Urban Meyer's better days are behind him. He's in one of the hot bed recruiting states in the country and struggled to dominate like he should have. Failed to make the playoffs last year (Notre Dame was better despite Kirk Herbstreits biased opinion), and was humiliated by Clemson the last time they made the final four. But somehow no one ever brings up that embarrassing loss (way more embarrassing than ND's loss last year). Anyone who thinks otherwise regarding Meyer need look no further than the success Ryan Day is having this year. Ohio State is the best team in the country this year IMO because Day is the head coach and Meyer is not. I have nothing against Meyer (other than ruining Rod Smith's college career). He's just not the same coach he once was. If Notre Dame let go of Kelly for Meyer, I'd have a heart attack.
  5. Notre Dame is out of the playoff picture for two reasons: 1. The winner of the Alabama/LSU game goes to the playoffs. 2. No one can stop Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Clemson. Notre Dame, Georgia, and Penn State are the next three out.................in that order. There is a gap between the first five and Notre Dame. But it's not a big one. The Irish will be crucified big time if they lose to Michigan. No shame in losing to a heated top 20 rival on their home field..........at night............on ABC. Win or lose Saturday night, the Irish are still at top 10 team.............easily. Notre Dame is going for their third straight 10 win season and it's driving the haters nuts. I love it. Keep hating. Go Irish.

Notre Dame is a national brand. They've already made their mark on the midwest, so no need to join a midwest conference. Stanford and USC gives them exposure to the west. The ACC gives them exposure to the east. Notre Dame will NEVER affiliate itself with the Big Ten in football.
  7. You never could get over the fact that the Snider/Luers series was so lopsided. Instead of acknowledging the fact that Snider's success over Luers is due to the size of the schools, you went on recruiting rampage against the Panthers. Certainly Snider's success had nothing to do with a great coaching staff that built one heck of a program, it just HAD to be recruiting. Even with the 1.65 multiplier, Snider is still twice the size of Luers................and that is why the series is so lopsided. Stop the nonsense Robert. DT. You said it yourself. Per capita, Fort Wayne shells out more than their fair share of high level football players. If they all went to Snider, the Panthers would literally have 20+ championships.
  8. "Evenly." That's the problem with the Success Factor. The privates have an advantage over the publics. Always have, always will. Zero boundaries. I'm all for the 1.65.
  9. If that were truly the case, Snider would be shooting for their 20th state championship this year.
  10. psaboy.......................Snider will not be at regional. OK, they have a slim chance, but doubt they get by Sparty. Snider has the athletes to beat Sparty. They just have to make adjustments and figure it out. The big question for Snider is whether or not they get by Carroll. If they are not 100% focused on the Chargers, they will lose the game. I consider Carroll a trap game for Snider with Homestead losing. I'm 50/50 on whether or not Snider will get by the first round. Carroll is a very good football team, let's not forget that. They lost to Snider and Dwenger by a total margin of 8 points. They were in the game against Homestead until late third quarter. They also took care of Concordia last week 16-0 with several starters nursing injuries.
  11. So would I, but if I were betting, I would say Jeff is more likely to play Homestead than Carmel or Snider.
  12. The 6a scenario strengthens my belief that we should keep the all-in format. Just seed it and deal with the early round blowouts or just seed the Top 2. Eliminating Carroll or Snider in would cause anarchy in Fort Wayne. Snider has the potential to beat anyone in the field. Their 8th seed is justified due to losses to Homestead and Dwenger, but they are dangerous team. For all I know, Dwenger and Homestead could be two of the top 5 teams in the state............we will find out.
  13. Defense does win championships. Case in point.............Dwenger. Last year Evansville Central was averaging over 40 pts a game until they reached Dwenger. I believe that game went into overtime at 0-0 with Dwenger eventually winning. When Snider plays Carmel, 90% of the time, the Panthers have the better offense. Carmel's defense is the reason they've won 6 in a row against Snider.I I have nothing against Lafayette Jeff. In fact, I wish them the best unless they are playing Snider. But I think their defense will be their doom this year. It may happen in sectional, it may happen in regional, or it could happen at semi-state. But it will happen...............in my opinion. Good luck to them. It's good for 6a to have quality representation out of Lafayette.
  14. Get better or get used to it (speaking of the 75-0 blowout). The game of life is no different. The football programs that work the hardest win the trophies. The kids with the best grades go to the best schools and get the best jobs. The harder you work in the in the real world, the more likely you will crush your competition. Getting whipped 75-0 is a painful lesson, but it IS a lesson. Don't like it? Feel sorry for the kids? Easy solution. Ten game season. Half the teams make it. Seed the tournament. The regular season should have playoff implications. The undefeated team shouldn't have to travel to winless team..............other states don't understand it, can't believe it, and laugh at it.
  15. Harrison will be a tough out. Not discounting them at all.
  16. I've sat in the stands with both fans and players of teams that bowed out in the first round.
  17. Actually, just the beginning. Overall attendance would be better in a seeded tournament. The blind draw is costing athletic departments money. Irresponsible.
  18. Simple. Have a committee sit down and seed it. Just like they do in NCAA basketball.
  19. I missed that. Completely agree. I might even put that at Tragedy #1.
  20. Baring any upsets, I can't wait to see what happens when Dwenger meets Valpo and Cathedral meets New Pal.
  21. I don't mind sounding like a broken record. I will remind the IHSAA of this every year until it's fixed. Tragedy #1 - Lafayette Jeff vs Merrillville Tragedy #2 - Avon vs Brownsburg No way these teams should have to meet each other in round one. The regular season has tournament implications at every level of every sport............except Indiana high school sports. Sad.
  22. ND hosting USC on a fall Saturday can rival any other experience. Something every ND fan should get to do at some point. Rivalry game. I'll take the win. I think some forget that USC is actually a pretty good football team..............Top 25 worthy.
  23. I have the Fort Wayne teams as a three touchdown favorite, but we will see.
  24. Notre Dame has a higher academic standard for their athletes than most. Kudos to them. Not sure you can give them the middle finger for that reason. Agree Agree, good luck to him. I just wasn't sure why he was at USC instead of ND. Makes sense now.
  25. Made Indiana proud? Just curious, why did he ditch the Irish for their most heated rival?
