  1. The Big 4...............Snider, Dwenger, Homestead, and Carroll all went from Sagarin Top 20 to none at all. Homestead is the biggest surprise. They dropped from 8 to 27 after their very unimpressive victory against weakling Dwenger on Dwenger's home field. Interesting to say the least.
  2. Homestead 17, Dwenger 15 Final Homestead has a very good football team, but Dwenger shot themselves in the foot with the roughing the passer penalty that lead to a Homestead TD. Then fumbling at the Homestead 25....................two game changers in this one.
  3. Wayne over North Carroll over Northrop Snider over South Homestead 28 Dwenger 21 Concordia 35 Luers 21
  4. Four major weaknesses to be exact. Snider knows what they are and will most certainly work on them. Get better or finish 3rd in the SAC.
  5. Unfortunately the State of Indiana somehow believes that an Interstate Highway between Indianapolis and Evansville is more important than an interstate between Fort Wayne and Chicago.....................now you can get out of Indianapolis via interstate to the N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, & NW. In the meantime, US 30 from FW to Chicago is an ABSOLUTE nightmare.................and dangerous!
  6. I would agree that there has never been a "legitimate" discussion. After losing Harding and Elmhurst..............which created some very interesting out of conference match-ups that I miss...............the SAC immediately had their sights set on Homestead and Carroll. It made the most sense. Huntington and Warsaw was just an opinion, a back option, an idea that someone from the media suggested...............nothing more, nothing less. In the end, the SAC got what they wanted..............Homestead and Carroll.
  7. Lol. I don't disagree with you admitting anything. I do disagree that Warren is ranked too high.
  8. Arguably the marquee game in the state this week. Dwenger is just as good today as they were when the season started. Homestead might be better than what I felt was an already good team to start the season. I can't pick against Homestead as well as they are playing on both sides of the ball. I can't pick against Dwenger in what is sure to be a raucous home environment. I guess I'm just not going to pick. The outcome will be determined on the field.
  9. Warsaw..............that's what I was thinking. I think I heard that scenario with Warsaw and HN before Homestead and Carroll came on board.
  10. I'm torn. The opponents so far, for the most part, are teams that these three teams faces last year and won. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do against some of the teams that beat them last year. I guess I'll go with Merrillville. I would like to see 3-0 turn into 6-0 turn into 9-0. Now that would be good for 6a northern football. They just make the tournament more exciting when they are playing well. I still have memories of the 1992 game in Fort Wayne against Snider. Snider won 14-7 in a game that was VERY competitive and could have gone either way. Snider went on to defeat Ben Davis.
  11. Seriously? That's kinda harsh. This is actually a good topic. If Luers and Concordia were to leave, the SAC would go after Huntington North and someone else. The ease of scheduling with a 10 team conference will trump the exciting out-of-conference match-ups. Agree. Concordia and Luers have had more success than those 4. But they could still make a case for leaving based on enrollment. Conclusion: Luers is having a bad year. They beat both Homestead and Carroll last year. Both the Spartans and the Chargers have really good teams this year, but I'm not sold that those two programs are built for year in year out dominance like Snider and Dwenger. So yeah, I think Luers will be back and will beat those two schools again. Regardless of Luers size, there has been many years where they had more talent then the likes of Snider and the other larger schools.
  12. Homestead's student section will fill up the entire bleachers. Needless to say extra bleachers will brought in. I will be on the Dwenger side...............lots of Dwenger fans will be standing I'm sure. I too like Homestead as the front runner right now. But if they lose a game it's because the other team was better............won't have anything to do with them not "showing up." As I said in many posts this year. Dwenger, Homestead, Carroll, and Snider are all good. Although I'm predicting the Spartans to run the table, I wouldn't be shocked if they finish the year 6-4...................competition will be fierce.
  13. Don't go to sleep on Carroll, it will result in a loss. Trust me.
  14. Lol, no no no. None of those overrated programs. That's just foolish...............................I was thinking Homestead.
  15. I concede. Dwenger and Valpo just aren't in the same league as New Pal and Cathedral. Congrats to the New Pal/Cathedral winner on their state championship trophy.
  16. Thanks for the answer. I do think the Irish will be a tough out this year, but i think they are going to have some competition along the way.
  17. Thanks. And good luck the the Irish..............it's good to see them "back".
  18. That's pretty much all I was trying to say. I simply stated that some 6A teams "could", not "would" beat them. And I said some 5A teams "can" play with them. I didn't realize that by implying the Irish were beatable that there would be an all out assault on my post....................geeeeesh. I'm sorry to anyone I offended. I recant my statement. No one has a chance against the Irish. But tell me this. What makes this years team any different from last years team? They've done a great job this year against the Cincinnati schools, I get it. But they did well last year too..........................then lost to Brownsburg by two scores, lost to Chatard, got blown out by Center Grove, then lost to Decatur Central.
  19. That's a bold statement. By saying "not a team in 5A who can play with Cathedral", you are implying that no one can come within a couple of touchdowns. For one, New Pal is still the team to beat until proven otherwise. Secondly, I guarantee both Valpo and Dwenger can "play with" your Irish. And 3rd, I can name four 6a teams who could not only "play with" Cathedral, but also beat them. That being said, kudos to Cathedral and how they are playing this early in the season, they will be a tough out for sure.
