  1. How was Frankfort different in 2001 when they went 10-3? A lucky run on talent? It looks like Brett Colby had a few teams that were pretty competitive.
  2. Valparaiso is my team of the week. When was the last time Penn got thumped by 20 from a team similar or smaller in enrollment? It looks like you have to go back to 2009 when they lost to Mishawaka by 16. Valpo is the real deal!
  3. So what is wrong with a kid who is born in Frankfort? How is it that they are shorter, weaker, and slower than a kid born anywhere else? A football program can be built anywhere. If a football team stinks, you can't blame the kids. It all starts at the top.
  4. Snider looked bored when they played and lost to Carroll last year. Very lethargic. If they do that again, they will get waxed by 24 again.
  5. 6a......................Carroll at #11 but no votes for Homestead. Carroll's 42-0 pasting of Luers was an eye opener, I get it, but watch out for Homestead this year. 5a......................Michigan City over Valpo? Michigan City is good, but I think Valpo fits somewhere in the Top 3.
  6. Same thing would have happened at any other stadium..............................but it makes Indianapolis a hick town I guess. This is one fan of PTI who will never watch it again. Hopefully there are others. Did not know that. Good info. Thanks.
  7. ESPN - Pardon The Interuption 8/26/19 Tony Kornheiser - "Indianapolis is a hick town" Tony Kornheiser - "when the Colts left Baltimore they must have run out of gas in Indianapolis" MIchael Wilbon - "I hope Indianapolis loses every game they ever play again"
  8. Seriously, half these "children" have beards. We're not talking about Pal football.
  9. I imagine Valpo would be battle tested by the time the tournament gets here. Penn + an improved Duneland = a pretty solid schedule..............I think.
  10. Half of those young men on the playing field are 18 years old. Referring to them as children is pretty demeaning. 97-0. Yes, I do believe you are referring to Dekalb. Coach Ron Kock took his team to the state finals and got waxed 35-0. Rules shouldn't be justified by what one coach did in 1994. For every one coach who runs up the score, you have 10 coaches who don't. One hundred points could be dropped on an opponent in Indiana at least 5 times per week if the coaches really wanted to. By and large, coaches just don't do that..............for two reasons. Reason number one is that they don't want to humiliate the other team. Reason number two is that they are smart enough to rest their starters and give valuable time to the younger players.
  11. Literally made me laugh.............thanks!
  12. I would fire a coach if he took the foot off the gas up 35 in the first half. Teams have come back from that far down. Up 35 half way through the 3rd quarter? I guess I could live with that. A good football coach goes for the jugular when up 35. Maybe take the foot off the gas when up 42 or 49. It really depends or whether or not you enjoy watching offense or defense. Everyone is entitled to their opinion with regard to what a good football game is. When Snider beat New Pal 64-61, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts stated that that may have been the most exciting game he's ever seen at any level.
  13. Wonders how good Lafayette Jeff is this year. Are they suppose to be better than last year? From what I hear, the team that beat them (Carmel) is also improved from last year. Snider.........better than last year. Homestead............better than last year. Where does that leave Penn? Fifth in the North? How good is Valpo (whipped Penn)? If Penn is the 5th best team in the north, that would be a first in several decades.
  14. So if this wasn't just the IHSAA and the coaches had something to do with it, I'm surprised they didn't set the number at 42 or 49.
  15. Lol, I have no problem leaving Bloomington South out of the pack. New Pal, Cathedral, Valpo, and Dwenger are in a league of thier own right now. Michigan City on the outside looking in.
  16. That would make it easier to justify. Or a mandatory meeting at midfield between the head coaches when the deficit reaches 42. Let the coach on the losing sideline decide.
  17. Twice the amount of snaps in the second half for the younger players without the mercy rule.
  18. So teaching your players that it's ok to give up after going down 35 points is ok? God help us.
  19. Is the mercy rule good for HS football? In the 2015 state championship game, New Pal scored 35 unanswered points against Snider in about a quarter and a half. What really bothers me about this rule is that good football programs...........I'm not talking about the wannabes who run up scores in an effort to gain respect......................but actual programs who use the second half to to give playing time to seniors who aren't starters, and underclassmen who need reps to get better. This rule is an absolute disservice to good football programs. Congrats to the wannabes for causing the IHSAA create this idiotic rule.
  20. Trinity by 21.......................after seeing what they did to Carmel. I'm rooting for the Warriors though.
  21. Michigan City, in my opinion, is just a notch below the Big 4. I could be wrong.............good luck to them!
  22. These four teams are on a collision course. All very impressive victories. Dwenger 41 Wayne 6 Valpo 34 Penn 14 Cathedral 42 Noblesville 14 New Pal 63 Kokomo 13
  23. It's never easy to predict an upset, that's why they are called "upsets" Robert. I was hoping Wayne would ride the momentum they've built by way of an excellent coaching staff. I still think Wayne has a good team, but Dwenger is a different beast.
