  1. Snider was up on New Pal 42-14 in the second quarter before the Dragon's started chipping away. It's a lousy rule, plain and simple.
  2. Luers beat Wayne tonight. That makes Carroll's 42-0 thrashing of the Knights even more impressive. And then tonight against Snider, losing 21-20, difference being an extra point. Carroll finally looks like what a big suburban football program is suppose to look like tonight. Big and physical. Dwenger coming up September 20.
  3. SAC is a beast this year. Keep and eye on Snider, Dwenger, Carroll, and Homestead.
  4. New Pal solidifies their position as the team to beat in 5a. Dwenger and Valpo not far behind though.
  5. I would agree that Perry Township (Carroll) and Aboite Township (Homestead) have much in common. Both are very affluent areas. I would say the big difference between the two is that Homestead established themselves as a "program" back in the early 90's. Just so there is no confusion, my definition of a "program" is a team that is built for success year after year. Homestead has done that. They've been good for almost three decades now. They represented the North in 1998 and probably would have done so again in 2002 had Snider not had two weeks to prepare for them in sectionals. Just look back at their history and you will see plenty of 10 win seasons. I honestly think they could have gone toe to toe with Carmel two years ago. Carroll's success didn't really come until a couple years after Dinan took over. The turning point was about 2012. Sure they had a decent season here and there, but no consistency until 2012. The highlight of the Carroll program was upsetting Penn in 2014 and taking down Snider last year.
  6. They look like they could vie for 6a supremacy this year.
  7. How much better is Michigan City this year than last? The Carroll district of Fort Wayne is still exploding. All of the growth is to the north side of the city. I could see one day, maybe 10 years from now, when Carroll could be mentioned with the likes of Brownsburg, Avon, Carmel, ect. But they aren't ready for that just yet. For now and the foreseeable future, Snider and Dwenger will continue to own Fort Wayne. They have built programs that have sustained decades of success and their isn't any sign of a slowdown for either program. For those of you who don't know, Russ Isaacs still plays a major role at Snider as an assistant for Coach Tippmann. And Jason Garrett of Dwenger won a state championship in his first season. A Dwenger guy to the core. Both programs looked ridiculously good last week for it being the first week of the season. Carroll's victory against Luers, on paper, is quite impressive. No one expected them to paste them 42-0. But Luers isn't the same program they were when Kyle's father, Matt, was at the helm. I'm not saying Carroll can't beat Snider, it's just more than likely not going to happen if Snider brings their A game. For those of you who aren't from Fort Wayne, keep an eye on Homestead. That's the team that could be capable of overthrowing Snider and Dwenger this year.
  8. How was Frankfort different in 2001 when they went 10-3? A lucky run on talent? It looks like Brett Colby had a few teams that were pretty competitive.
  9. Valparaiso is my team of the week. When was the last time Penn got thumped by 20 from a team similar or smaller in enrollment? It looks like you have to go back to 2009 when they lost to Mishawaka by 16. Valpo is the real deal!
  10. So what is wrong with a kid who is born in Frankfort? How is it that they are shorter, weaker, and slower than a kid born anywhere else? A football program can be built anywhere. If a football team stinks, you can't blame the kids. It all starts at the top.
  11. Snider looked bored when they played and lost to Carroll last year. Very lethargic. If they do that again, they will get waxed by 24 again.
  12. 6a......................Carroll at #11 but no votes for Homestead. Carroll's 42-0 pasting of Luers was an eye opener, I get it, but watch out for Homestead this year. 5a......................Michigan City over Valpo? Michigan City is good, but I think Valpo fits somewhere in the Top 3.
  13. Same thing would have happened at any other stadium..............................but it makes Indianapolis a hick town I guess. This is one fan of PTI who will never watch it again. Hopefully there are others. Did not know that. Good info. Thanks.
  14. ESPN - Pardon The Interuption 8/26/19 Tony Kornheiser - "Indianapolis is a hick town" Tony Kornheiser - "when the Colts left Baltimore they must have run out of gas in Indianapolis" MIchael Wilbon - "I hope Indianapolis loses every game they ever play again"
  15. Seriously, half these "children" have beards. We're not talking about Pal football.
  16. I imagine Valpo would be battle tested by the time the tournament gets here. Penn + an improved Duneland = a pretty solid schedule..............I think.
  17. Half of those young men on the playing field are 18 years old. Referring to them as children is pretty demeaning. 97-0. Yes, I do believe you are referring to Dekalb. Coach Ron Kock took his team to the state finals and got waxed 35-0. Rules shouldn't be justified by what one coach did in 1994. For every one coach who runs up the score, you have 10 coaches who don't. One hundred points could be dropped on an opponent in Indiana at least 5 times per week if the coaches really wanted to. By and large, coaches just don't do that..............for two reasons. Reason number one is that they don't want to humiliate the other team. Reason number two is that they are smart enough to rest their starters and give valuable time to the younger players.
  18. Literally made me laugh.............thanks!
  19. I would fire a coach if he took the foot off the gas up 35 in the first half. Teams have come back from that far down. Up 35 half way through the 3rd quarter? I guess I could live with that. A good football coach goes for the jugular when up 35. Maybe take the foot off the gas when up 42 or 49. It really depends or whether or not you enjoy watching offense or defense. Everyone is entitled to their opinion with regard to what a good football game is. When Snider beat New Pal 64-61, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts stated that that may have been the most exciting game he's ever seen at any level.
  20. Wonders how good Lafayette Jeff is this year. Are they suppose to be better than last year? From what I hear, the team that beat them (Carmel) is also improved from last year. Snider.........better than last year. Homestead............better than last year. Where does that leave Penn? Fifth in the North? How good is Valpo (whipped Penn)? If Penn is the 5th best team in the north, that would be a first in several decades.
  21. So if this wasn't just the IHSAA and the coaches had something to do with it, I'm surprised they didn't set the number at 42 or 49.
  22. Lol, I have no problem leaving Bloomington South out of the pack. New Pal, Cathedral, Valpo, and Dwenger are in a league of thier own right now. Michigan City on the outside looking in.
  23. That would make it easier to justify. Or a mandatory meeting at midfield between the head coaches when the deficit reaches 42. Let the coach on the losing sideline decide.
