I think they are the best team in the state regardless of class .
They can certainly make a legitimate case. I'd like to see how 5a North would compete with them. But as a fan of the game, it'll be more fun to see how New Pal stacks up against the 6a mega schools.

If we wanna keep this short and sweet the winner of Roncalli and New Pal will be the 4A state champ and likely ranked #1 in the state in the multi-class power rankings after the dust is settled up at 6A.
Your opinion is that, currently, those are the top two teams in the state?
Roncalli 17, Chatard 14
Cathedral 38, Chatard 0
I think you could make a case for New Pal, but not Roncalli. I'll defer to what some of the Indy area guys have to say if they want to chime in.

New Pal would run over Northwood like there not even there , game would get ugly .
You are probably more familiar with Northwood than I am. I guess we'll see what happens. Personally, I'd love to see New Pal in 5a this year.

I am going with Brownsburg @ Ben Davis.
I honestly can't see a Carroll team that is dealing with a 'traditional' offensive scheme losing this contest. Now the 2nd Round (perhaps against Warsaw at Gorsuch?....that's a different story).
Sectional #1 - Crown Point..is my choice.
Sectional #3 has Fishers v. HSE written all over it.
Sectional # 4 - Carmel/Westfield pick em
Ben Davis/Brownsburg was the other game that caught my attention.
HSE and Fishers drew a favorable road to the sectional championship.

Arguably the most intriguing first round game state wide. It's ok to start this thread early since both teams will win their Week 9 games and rest their starters in the second half. Penn is on an upswing this year and is looking like what a Penn team is supposed to look like. Unfortunately they drew a Carroll team that appears to be on a mission. I've got the Kingsman bowing out in the first round, but Carroll will have to give them their best shot on the road. Anything less and the Chargers will be cleaning their lockers. Coach Dinan knows this. He was coaching at Snider in 2003 when the 12-1 Panthers took the trip to Freed Field and got waxed 62-27.

Lol, still doesn't make a bit of sense to me. But whatever.

Last week of closed conference.
Carroll at Wayne
Concordia at North Side
Luers at Snider
Northrop at Dwenger
Homestead at South Side
All games should be blow outs. Maybe this is why the SAC is going to out of conference play.
Carroll, Dwenger, and Homestead went all out by scheduling some mammoth programs. Luers loads up with 4A schools. Kudos.
I agree that none of these games will come down to the end. Snider/Luers is always worth a visit though. Concordia could make it interesting for awhile vs the Legends.

Michael Mayer is, by far, the best tight end in ND history, and the best in the Country now.
By far? Geeeesh! I think there are some other guys who could argue that. Mayer is great, don't get me wrong, but other Notre Dame greats had better receivers working along side them to throw the ball to. Cole Kmet, Tyler Eifert, and Kyle Rudolf could all make a case.

Friday night will tell a lot.
Cathedral @ CG
Brownsburg @ HSE
Should be good!
Can't ask for a better lineup than that.

I think you are under selling Snider. Yes, their long history of dumb flags always makes me anxious. That "team" can show up any time. any place with no warning.
Snider has the personnel to win state. I'm just not sure they can beat North Side again or Merrillville with 10+ penalties.
With regard to the rankings, Carroll in my opinion has earned their way to #1. The next four teams could fall in any order. The next four after that are more than capable. It's just an opinion poll. The only poll that counts is the one after Thanksgiving. Then the only teams anyone will remember are the six hoisting the championship trophy and the other six that said "at least we made it there."

I don’t want to be right about North Side possibly beating Snider, but I think you are vastly underrating them. Snider will have their hands full should they play again.
I agree that North has a good shot at taking Snider out of sectionals. I just didn't agree with Snider "should have lost" the first time around.

They’ll definitely play their way in if they can beat Columbia City this Friday.
Both of those teams are on the fringe.
A game worth going to if you live in Northeast Indiana. I've got the Knights by 14.

Pyne looked good in the 1st half. Hel looks a lot more comfortable. Love seeing Mayer getting the looks he is.
This is the Pyne I remember from last year's Wisconsin game.
I honestly don't think Buchner has much of a future. He's too injury prone.

Bold to say they’ll have the last word on Thanksgiving weekend.
Lol, does that surprise you? Sincerely though, I think this Norwell team is really good. I'd have no problem dropping money that they'll win it all.

Why does Notre Dame continue to go for 2pt conversions so early in the game?

Looks pretty good, but I’d have to put Center Grove #1. 3 seasons unbeaten in the toughest conference in the state. Only loss to a tough Trinity team on a miserably humid night in double OT. Not to mention the environment was unbelievable!
I get why you have Brownsburg #1 but I don’t think their resume is quite as good.
Barely beat BD who didn’t have their starting QB, and a good Cathedral team that hasn’t really played anyone.I think Brownsburg is as deserving as anyone to be ranked #1, but I have a hard time believing any team will finish undefeated in 6A. There's just too many good teams. Someone other than Brownsburg will take it. I'll stick with what I said a few days ago.............Cathedral.

Snider and North Side are both too low, especially North Side. Carroll is very good, but if Snider has their RB1 in that game, it is very likely Snider beats Carroll. North Side probably should have beaten Snider, losing 20-18. Penn is too high and so is Crown Point. Carry on…
Who would win in a Snider/Carroll rematch is debatable. With RB1 in the game, these teams are dead even. Maybe a slight advantage to Carroll.
North Side was playing catch up the entire game. Not sure how you came up with "should have beaten." They'll get their chance again in the tournament and possibly prove you right.

What if this happens? 2022 State Champions
6a Brownsburg or Center Grove
5a Whiteland or Bloomington South
4a New Palestine
3a Chatard or West Lafayette
2a Evansville Mater Dei
1a Indy Lutheran
Fort Wayne could be shut out again, just like last year. I think only 3 teams north of Logansport have won state in the last 4 years, Andrean in 2021 and in 2018 Pioneer and FW Dwenger
Could very well happen.

Was he #87? Looking at their stats, it’s amazing they had 3 1100+ yard rushers in the 2015 season
I don't remember his number, only that he was scary.

Michigan State was overrated dating back to last year.

Tailback. The stats are just what I remember seeing, not necessarily fact. He was a beast to bring down.

Interesting point. The IHSAA is damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they implemented a qualifier and eliminated half the teams from the field, there would be an uproar. And you'd have loss of athletic department revenue. The only solution in my opinion is to seed the tournament with an all-in format. Sure there'll be lots of blowouts, but like they say, get better or get used to it. I just don't like to see good programs like Penn, Carroll, Brownsburg, and Ben Davis pack their bags after the first week. Those hard working programs earned their way to a deeper run.
