Like I said, the conference is down this year. Still think you're being a little unfair though, the past 3 years before this you could make a strong case that the DAC was a top-3 (AT WORST 4th) conference in the state. The DAC lacks depth this year but I'm still not convinced it doesn't have the top 2 out of the Mid-State, SIAC, and SAC (side note, I think you're underrating the Circle City here). We'll see as I think there's a good shot the top 2 in the DAC and SAC will meet in the playoffs.

Would love to see Carroll and Crown Point match up head to head, but Penn and Elkhart might have something to say about that. Barring any upsets, Snider and Merrillville appear to be on a collision course. I'll be pulling for an SAC vs DAC in the 6a & 5a semi-state. For now I'll just stick with Temp's ranking of CP, Carroll, Snider, then Merrillville. Time will tell.

He only likes boring class rankings with little controversy where his favorite team is #1.

Boring? What's boring about seeing Homestead ranked ahead of Westfield in the coaches poll? What's boring about Huntington North being ranked 12th in 4a. *That's exciting stuff!

    *But not necessarily reality.

If ND's front 7 can get to Maye and keep this from becoming a shootout I like ND's chances. But ND will be in trouble if this game is played in the high 30's/low 40's.

The D will step up in this one for the Irish and the North Carolina D is pitiful. Notre Dame 31, North Carolina 24.

It amazed me how they beat CG two years in a row with the amount of players going both ways. It hit me this year after realizing that this is a normal thing for NP.

I think Ralph knows that the recipe for success against enrollments twice that of New Pal is to take your best athletes and keep them on the field the entire time. I don't think New Pal could play 22 different players and expect to compete with 6A schools.

Didn’t read thru this thread, but did something happen to Drayk Bowen?

Curious why anyone thinks the defending champs with the best player returning can be dismissed.

Apparently, y’all didn’t see the clip titled “Angry Drayk” from the other night.

    Good luck 2A

I don't think anyone is dismissing Andrean. How many did they return from last year? Bowen is just one guy.

Well technically not yet, but not feeling good.

Haven't been wrong about ND and Marcus Freeman though. Nice to get the first win off his back but he just looked uncomfortable on the sideline the entire afternoon. I don't see him making it more than 3 years.

I hope you're wrong just for the sake of him coming across as a good guy. Ryan Day made it, why not Freeman?

Should have been able to score on OSU, Marshall and Cal too...

All three of those teams have a better defense than North Carolina. I think Pyne will feel less pressure playing away from home. Whatever, I'm normally wrong anyway.

  8. Concordia could give Dwenger fits, but I like the Saints by 21.

    Luers by 35 over Northrop.

North Side by 7 over Homestead. The Spartans offense will have to be sharp to keep up with the Redskins.

Running clock in the Snider game, but not until the second half.

This score could be very ugly, but I don't think Carroll will take it there.

I like smart football so both of those are acceptable to me.

I also like seeing basketball players actually use the glass.

    Other peoples opinions may vary.

Unless it's a 3 pointer. That should be negative 3 since we all know the shooter missed the rim by 2 feet.

They have quite a few guys going both ways. Coach Ralph does a good job of keeping the OL from getting too many defensive reps, but I have never seen a team so well conditioned for Iron Man football like I have seen New Pal's. Outside the first game of the season where cramps set in against Westfield, the team runs pretty deep and seems to not be phased about going both ways. I would say that about 5 or 6 right now go both ways regularly.

Ralph always seems too get the most out of his best athletes. It's pretty impressive that they can play the whole game without running out of gas.

I’m sure that Eastside team is not offended by this one bit since they were the ones representing the northeast against Andrean last season. They were awful happy to be a line item on that Luers’ team’s resume last year, which ended in an early loss in what the Knights were hoping would be a deep playoff run.

Totally agree with the disappointment in the lack of respect for northeastern teams in 2A. There’s a lot of good football being played without the same attention that schools in other regions receive.

Them boys in Butler can play some football. I could see them meeting up with Luers again this year in yet another game decided by a touchdown or less.

    Nah, closer to top 5.

He barely got drafted though…wasn’t “VERY good” I guess.

(BTW:  Book had a higher career win percentage at ND than Brady did at Michigan.)

You're the one who follows Michigan football, you tell us. I don't remember this college playing days. Was he Book good, better, or worse? Book was the ninth quarterback drafted in his class. Brady was sixth.

Umm just so you know… Andrean has played a harder schedule last few years than luers. And it’s not close. I think right now they are ranked 25-30 spots apart on the schedule??? But 2A starts with Andrean. They right now look like a clear walkthrough ti me to state again. Once they put drayk in that backfield I don’t see much of anyone slowing him down!

When you failed to mention any Fort Wayne teams as contenders in 5a, I knew right off the bat that you didn't know much about football in Northeast Indiana. I'm guessing it has something to do with your age, 18-22 if I'm guessing right. But your "it's not close" comment really takes the cake here. I would argue that Luers has the harder schedule and it's not close.

Andrean is a great program and it's a compliment to say that 2a starts with them. But to Luers credit, they do have 11 state titles in that class. In 2020 they somehow allowed two scores in the final 1:30 that prevented them from number twelve. I'd also argue that they had the best team in 2a last year, but were the victim of an upset early in the tournament. No offense to the Eastside team that beat them last year, but Luers defeated Carroll, Dwenger, Homestead, and North Side. You won't find a better resume than that for a 2a program going back any number of years.
