    38-20, 35-21, not bad.

6A football is better when Penn is a player.  This was a big step forward.

Agree. The big question is.............are they the best in the north? They have Elkhart in two weeks. Carroll continues to look good. Crown Point looking good. HSE/Fishers will come calling.

  2. Did ESPN really refer to Friday night's games as Friday Night Lights? It's bad enough that they are even playing on Friday nights, therefore competing with high schools for attendance. Now referring to their games as Friday Night Lights? It's one thing for the NCAA to be greedy, but not at the expense of high school football.

I believe because they have coach buzz, his all star coaching staff and his GUTS philosophy. And they’re still a fairly young team. Future is bright for CP

As I said...........6A north will be brutal. Sectional 2 might be the most competitive in the state with Penn, Carroll, Elkhart, and Warsaw. Then you have Crown Point, Fishers, and Hamilton Southeastern. Much love for Homestead, but I don't think this is the year of the Spartan. Don't sleep on Lafayette Jeff. Not much talk about Elkhart.........judgement day in two weeks.

Wasn't able to follow last nights game, looks like Snider was able do what they wanted to do., Anyone have any observations they can share?

Mercy rule in place toward the beginning of the second period. Apparently they were able to throw and run at will. No points in the second half. Kudos for calling off the dogs.

It's beginning to look like a purple team on the Westside of Indianapolis might be making some noise before this thing is over again. Cautiously optimistic here. Ben Davis is only allowing 11.3 ppg. We know the offense is potent. We'll see this upcoming week where they measure up against the defending champs.

With the emergence of suburban schools in the bigger markets, schools like Ben Davis, Warren Central, and Snider have been dismissed in recent conversations with regard to who the better teams in the state are. All those programs are relevant and will go a long way in deciding this years state champion.

New Pal's enrollment tipped 1200 for the first time this year and the freshman class is 325ish, so at that rate, it'll be 1300+ in a few years. Several new neighborhoods are under construction. I wouldn't be shocked if New Pal is a 5A by enrollment by the end of the decade.

Amen to that.............5a would love to have them. The more competition the merrier.

I think you're representing the school and the program in an embarrassing way. I'm uncertain about what you're trying to prove, I am certain you are not succeeding, and I wish you would cut it out. It's not like you've come out and said who you are anyway, so what's the difference?

I disagree. Goldrush has been a long time advocate on this forum for the Penn program. Sometimes fans have spouts. Most of us have been there.

Yes, but Covid was the overarching citation.  Player opt outs and a lack of attendance affected MANY teams in 2020...in both directions.

Many OSU slappies have been citing the flu and snow as the reason Michigan got "lucky" on Thanksgiving weekend in 2021.

Just busting your balls. I agree that the best teams were affected by lack of attendance. I think it was felt at the high school level as well. Bad teams are used to playing in front of no one. Good teams feed off the noise and excitement of their fans.

    He's 34-4?

He's been at OSU 3 whole years.

Lol, just three years? Sorry, my mind is focused on work right now. It seems longer than that.

I get the good record. And I do think he's a good coach. Maybe I'm being slightly unfair to him. But when I think of Day, I think of the best talent in the country losing at home to Oregon and getting blasted in the playoffs by Clemson and Alabama.

2004 Snider team was the best I ever seen, and I’ve seen nearly every team since the mid 80’s. They matched up with Warren athletically with half the enrollment, incredible. Always mad respect for Snider.

The Snider fan base feels the same about Penn. I was truly hoping to see that rivalry renewed when the SAC restructured and allowed for two non-conference games. Not a singe Fort Wayne team picked up Penn, which tells me that the first two weeks of their schedule is booked up for the foreseeable future. In my opinion, from a fans perspective, Snider vs Penn needs to happen again.

Side note: Snider/Penn was arguably one of the best non-conference rivalries in the state for two decades.

Forgot to mention Ohio State has the best QB, and the best RB, and the best WR all in the country.

    They're offense is a machine.

I guess I'm still up in the air as to how good of a coach Ryan Day is. He has top three talent year after year and he's yet to have a national championship to show for it. Oregon coming into Columbus last year and winning was an eye opener for me. I'll buy into the hype and acknowledge a multiple score game mainly because I think the Buckeyes will be as jacked up for this game as they have for any game in recent memory. There's just been that type of buildup leading into Saturday night. And after what happened last year in the home opener, they'll be ready to go.

  12. I can understand the point spread:

Ohio State blew their home opener a year ago. They don't want to make it two in a row.

The Buckeyes will play lights out not wanting Freeman's return to be with a W.

The game is at Ohio State.

Freeman is unproven as a head coach.

I don’t understand how that Warren team lost a game, let alone two during the regular season. Chatard had a great team. But speed kills, and Warren had it in abundance.

Speed came in handy back then when opportunities to play on turf were far and few between. The Snider 2004 team was right there with WC in the midst of their dynasty. It's just a shame that Quale Lewis wasn't able to showcase himself that game.
