I was thinking that Snider seems more disciplined this year. Not seeing the 8-10 flags per game that we seemed to see most games a few years ago. That is a positive IMO. Don't want to take next few weeks for granted, but looking forward to see how they progress and work on things the next two weeks.

They'll be fine. They went into a tough environment last night. The outcome came down to one or two plays that could have affected the score differently. They have the tools for another SAC title (with a bit of help) and a deep run in 5a.

Woulda lost my 4th rb bet..kept waiting for a speedster to appear..Panthers did a better job of keeping their emotions in check 2nite..they will be fine if they can bottle that lightning..I'll chip in on sum meditation classes..

Snider is good. There's no debating that. The problem is that there is four other good teams in the SAC. Lot's of competition left.

    refs aren't perfect

Lol, ya think? Overall I thought they did pretty well tonight. But that missed holding that led to Carroll's second touchdown? Wow. That Carroll linemen looked like he was sumo wrestling in keeping that Snider defender from the sack.

Tough loss for the Panthers, actually kept it closer than I thought they would. Offensive line got consistently beat by Carroll’s defensive line, no time for Haupert to throw, and the defense just didn’t get stops like they needed to. On the positive side, Carroll looks like the best team in SAC and is a 6A team that could make some noise in the tourney.

I saw the game a little differently. I think both teams are evenly matched and one had to lose. I think Carroll will give Penn fits, then Indy comes calling. Snider has the tools to make a deep run if they can get out of their own sectional. They just need to get a passing game going that features a third year quarterback, a D1 receiver, and and D3 receiver. They're deep in the run game, wow.

I'll continue to say it. All bets are off when Snider, Dwenger, Homestead, Carroll, and North Side play one another. Those are five very good football teams.

  5. The facemask penalty in the first period allowing Carroll to continue their 95 yard touchdown drive to start the game was crucial. That being said, kudos to the Chargers and getting it done for their fallen teammate. When it's all said and done with, I think Carroll could be very tough to beat until they get to semi-state. Then they get the luxury of facing off with Indy. I won't hold my breath on that one.  And if Snider can hold of Dwenger and North Side, then they can be competitive with Merrillville. Two good football teams went at it tonight and someone had to lose. And by the way...........that truck with the #36 on it? He's just a sophomore :).

Probably the biggest game in the regular season for the Fort this year? Obviously going to be imbued with a lot of emotion. Wish I could be at this one. That being said I'm going to take Carroll.

Possibly. They were saying the same thing last week with North Side and Snider. The Fort is still kind of a crapshoot. No one really knows what to expect when Snider, North Side, Dwenger, Homestead, and Carroll play each other at this point.

  7. This is a big game tonight in Fort Wayne for more than one reason. Not only do you have two teams squaring off that many are calling the best two in NE Indiana, but the game is being dedicated to the late Owen Scheele. For those who don't already know, this young man passed away suddenly on June 7 due to chronic myeloid leukemia.

"Scheele would likely have been Carroll’s starting quarterback this fall. In his only prior start, he filled in for star quarterback Jeff Becker last year in week two, leading Carroll to a 29-28 win over Snider at Spuller Stadium. That victory helped Carroll in earning a share of its first SAC title, while keeping Snider from winning the Victory Bell outright." (Curtesy of Wane.com)

There might not be a bigger ticket gate in the entire state tonight. I would venture to say that 6000+ may be on hand tonight.

There’s not a team (in my opinion) that can match the collection of talent in the skill department than that of Cathedral, hence my far superior comment. It is quite a statement. And I stand by it, and it’s certainly not without merit. You can make a legitimate case that O’Neil, Tibbs, and Wooten are the three best at their position this year.

To be fair, 24/7 doesn't have any of them at the top of their position group. An impressive collection of three, for sure.

Skill players are nothing without their OL.

Heck there are three D1 players on New Pals team, and I say they are some of the best in the state too, but two of those players are OL.

I am happy for them and they are good, but far superior? That may be a stretch.

Sad that an offensive lineman will never win the Heisman.

Two D1 linemen from a school of 1400 students? That's impressive.

I think FBKing might be willing to admit that he overstated the "far superior" bit.

You don’t need a full set of fingers on one hand to count the number of teams in the state that have two D1 commits at the skill positions, let alone 3. It’s not a knock on anyone else, you’re just not going to find another team this year with that many weapons at multiple positions.

Got it. Good luck to your Irish this year, they appear to have a special team.
