  1. Here are the results after the first round. Double check my results and let me know of any errors--Numbers have never been my strong suit. I'll post the choices for round 2 games in the next few days. 3. I'm using the same approach that scarab527 used last fall, so here goes . . . Sticking to the 100 game format just to keep things simple. First week will be 18 games, second 22, Sectional Championship week 24 games, Regional week 18 games, and then all 12 Semi-State games and all 6 State games. Round 1 Games: 1. Columbia City @ FW Dwenger 2. Culver Academy @ Lebanon 3. Danville @ Brebeuf Jesuit 4. Woodlan @ Tippecanoe Valley 5. Heritage @ Delta 6. Rushville @ Franklin County 7. 4. I think someone started it last year, but petered out around sectional championship or regional week, maybe? I can try to put something together in the next day or so and people would be able to enter picks Thursday night or during the day or Friday.
  5. I have no skin in this game whatsoever. I was just watching on ihsaatv, and I’ve never seen anything like this before. Leo is ahead 18-15 while Col. City drives to the 4 yard line with 3 seconds left to go and 4th down. Col. City attempts a field goal which is blocked and rolls to the 11 yard line where a Col. City player picks it up and runs into the end zone. The officials conference and somehow award Col. City a second attempt at 4th down from the 4 yard line. Col. City throws a touchdown pass to win the game. I’m not sure what the outcome should have been but I’m pretty sure how it turned out wasn’t correct. Anybody have more insight into this situation??
  6. Hasn’t New Pal’s schedule always been this weak? At least in the last decade or so. They’ve had some pretty good postseason success in spite of it.
  7. I think Tri-West is no longer on board with this. https://inpreps.com/2024/08/14/hoosier-legends-conference-embrace-exciting-new-era/
  8. Are you saying that at some point in their history, HSE was basically a guaranteed win? A good homecoming opponent?
  9. No they are the only Tippecanoe County team that didn’t get voted out.
  10. I agree. I think Jeff might possibly be on a bit of a slow downward trend. Their enrollment is shrinking, and they’re not going to improve much playing what’s left of the NCC.

  15. I'm pretty sure that track seeds individual events--giving preferential lane and heat assignments to the best times and field event marks. I'm pretty sure swimming does this, too. I don't think there's any way to seed teams, just individuals. For sectionals, there used to be qualifying marks way back in the old days, but for the last 30 years or so, I believe schools have been allotted 2 individuals per event and 1 relay team, unless they had 3 or more individuals meet the state meet qualifying standard.
  16. I respectfully withdraw my attempt to add to this thread my own poor attempt at an "Oh my". I didn't realize that there was a 1 perspective limit.
  17. Well, three of those are older than the 20 year parameter (2000, 2000, 2001), one of the has not happened yet (2023), and one of them, Mt. Vernon (Fortville) is actually about 45 miles north of Bargersville. So that puts the number squarely at 10 (out of about 110 championships I think). I think directly or indirectly we are both shining the spotlight on the Indy area and surrounding counties. That region's probably won 60 or more state championships in the last 20 years.
  18. Now do the same thing for schools south of Bargersville for the last 20 years. I don’t think the total championship count even reaches double digits. Oh my!
  19. As I recall (though I might be wrong) the HCC showed all three Lafayette teams the door out of the conference; it was not Jeff, McCutcheon, or Harrison wanting to leave. Though in hindsight, all three are probably better off for it.
  20. How about that group in 5A! All four teams in the top 10 of 5A in the Sagarin. A combined .750 winning percentage at this point in the season. By the end of the regular season, McCutcheon will likely have the worst record at 6-3. I gotta think that Harrison is the favorite at this point, but there don't seem to be any 'gimme' teams in that sectional.
  21. Yep. Logic seems to be absent in this situation. If I were one of those AD's I'd be hard pressed to renew any athletic contracts with Jeff. Interesting . . . What would that look like?
  22. Why would Jeff vote HHS and MHS out of the conference, then turn around and follow them out the door?
  23. The crazy part is that it appears that Jeff voted in favor of the ouster of HHS and MHS
  24. I think, though there were a few blips, Jeff has deep ties and long history with the NCC, and most of the NCC schools are clinging to that past glory. People I've talked to have said for all intents and purposes, this was a move to get Harrison out because they were becoming too dominant in most/all sports. Harrison and McCutcheon are basically joined at the hip so if Harrison got the boot so did McCutcheon. I think south makes more sense for MHS and HHS, but I think they'll be in a really tough spot finding a conference or a handful of schools willing to join them.
