I know he is a legendary broadcaster, having done so many IHSAA and Indy 500 events. (Although I always thought he heavily favored Indy teams) But, it's time to put the mic away. SO MANY mistakes, just in the 1st quarter of the 1A game.

4A: New Prairie vs East Central
gindie replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
If I recall correctly, wasn't New Prairie the home of Amzie Miller, who was one of the strongest proponents of the all-in football tournament? -
Determined by the location of the ball or the receiver?

IHSAATV.org streaming issue

Yeah, I got a little tired of that as well. It was inconsistent, it only happened about 60% of the time for me. -
IHSAATV.org streaming issue

The IHSAA has charged for all the Semi State games for at least 3 years now. I paid my $17 and had absolutely no problems switching back and forth between any game I wanted to watch. I was watching on a laptop. -

Free on areas that have access to Bally Sports Indiana on their cable systems. All others need to pay for streaming, $15 for one game, $20 for all. -
Adams Central at North Judson

Back in 1997 it was Bloomington South. It was the Penn three-peat and Rex Grossman was a junior. -
Using NCAA fields for high school games?
gindie replied to gindie's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That matches my memory. In Cincinnati, they used to have a "Skyline Chili Kickoff Classic" at the University of Cincinnati Nippert Stadium that was run by Kirk Herbstreit at some point. I remember seeing Warren Central, Carmel, and other states play in it at some points. But, they hold those at high school fields now. -
In some of the discussions in the forum regarding neutral fields, the subject of using college fields has come up. Is my memory failing me, or was there an edict a while back from the NCAA saying that their stadiums couldn't be used for high school? I seem to remember something about not allowing these early season invitationals to be played at college stadiums any longer.

Yes. No, it does not. Once the running clock begins it continues until end of the game. NFHS 2019 or 2018 rule change. In Ohio, if the score margin drops below the threshold (30?), normal timing resumes.

Hypothetical Neutral Site Regionals
gindie replied to HoopsCoach's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I currently live in Ohio, where the first 2 rounds are at the highest rated schools and the the remainder are at neutral sites (this coming week will be the first week of neutral). It is my understanding that before the season starts, all schools that are willing to be a neutral site make their wishes known to the OHSAA, so they are on notice that they could be "called" at any weekend of the tournament. Then on each Sunday during the tournament, the OHSAA assigns the neutral sites for the upcoming week based on trying to equate the distance traveled (and possibly capacity of the stadium). Approximately half of the neutral games are on Friday and half on Saturday. As for a team still being in the playoffs, but the school desiring to be a neutral site for another game, I think the OHSAA would have enough neutral site alternatives to prevent this from happening. At this point in the tournament, there are only 28 teams left (4 teams each in 7 divisions), so the supply of stadiums far outweighs the need/demand. -
Hypothetical Neutral Site Regionals

I think Warsaw would be the better site. The goal is to even out travel distance. According to Google Maps, Mishawaka to Warsaw is 43 miles, Snider to Warsaw is 42.9 miles. -
I watched the tail end of the Columbia City and Leo game, which went in to overtime. Then the meeting at midfield to discuss the OT rules and the coin flip was done with the coaches and not the captains. Is this something new?

Don't understand why this isn't intentional grounding
gindie replied to gindie's question in Officiating Forum
Didn't realize (or remember) that the rule changed just this year. -
Here's the video link. Start watching at about 1:59:45. I watched two different streams and it was funny who did/didn't know there's no "tackle box" rule in high school. In the other stream it was the former COACH commentator who knew the rule. Nonetheless, can't figure out why the refs picked up the flag here. https://www.ihsaatv.org/?B=451588

Why? It's a live ball.

If you took my comments as a complaint of some sort, you read way too much into it. Wasn't giving any opinion one way or the other. Just describing an exciting play for others on this board that may not have heard about it. I had no stake in the outcome. I was just sitting here in my chair in Ohio watching the WHME Facebook feed, enjoying a good game while also listening to Penn play New Prairie. Nothing more than that. -

Just describing the last play. Other than the "Bush Push", which was illegal at the time and from inside the 5 yard line, I've never seen that occur in OT to win a game, starting so far from the goal line. Why the nasty remark? Is it because you didn't get the last word on the game details?
