  1. I admit to giving them short shrift and assuming their record was solely a result of a weak schedule. Their win over a quality Jasper team was clearly the biggest surprise of Week 1 of the playoffs.
  2. If you’re referencing the 2015 Semi-State, for the most part, Chatard was already playing most of their “home” games at LN that season. I could be wrong but I’m not sure there were any games played at Broad Ripple that season (except by Broad Ripple themselves). The IHSAA had been been pressuring a move away from Broad Ripple for post Sectional games even back prior to 2010. Again, I may be recalling incorrectly but I think that’s accurate.
  3. Yep. Pretty sure that happened more than once. I still chuckle at the image of Elder and St. Louis DeSmet playing (and losing) at Broad Ripple in 2006-7. I often wondered what they made of the place.
  4. You buying this action?
  5. I’m just praying that the Cody dude from Facebook doesn’t discover us here.
  6. Maybe so, and I won’t contest the quality of GS’s ground game but my guess is that in playing both Cathedral and Roncalli, Brebeuf has played against the biggest and most highly regarded O-lines (and running games) in the state outside of Center Grove. Roncalli’s offensive line could easily be mistaken for a MAC team’s line when you see them match up. In watching the Brebeuf/WL game it seemed that when WL came out in the 2nd half and tried to (conservatively) establish a ground game that Brebeuf was able to handle that fairly easily and WL lost all their momentum. I still think that in a prospective State Championship game between GS and Brebeuf the difference is going to be whether Brebeuf can contain Allen and his receivers.
  7. Evansville Memorial might have an argument with that….a pretty legit one having relatively recently played in 3 championship games and walking off with a 3A and 4A title. As regards Gibson Southern, I’d wager they’re ready for the challenge. The last time they played an Indy power was in 2015 in horrific conditions in a game that really could have gone either way. Even so, I think the assumed title game between GS and Brebeuf would be a great game. Like @fenderbender stated, Brebeuf will need to get pressure on GS because I don’t think they’ve faced a QB quite like him.
  8. This should NEVER happen. That said, they’re 2 of the Top 3 likely….but GS is in that 1-3 mix. Still one of the Top 3 teams was likely eliminated tonight.
  9. Sorry, I misspoke calling them the SAC rather than the SIAC. Well, not exactly my conference either but I do try to follow the conference because it’s a solid one. It doesn’t feature some of the 5A and 6A teams of the SAC but the SIAC has some solid 2-4A teams.
  10. Brebeuf. 24 W. Lafayette 14 Final W. Lafayette seemed to play conservatively in the 2nd half and Brebeuf essentially stuffed them. As good as these teams were it was not a pretty game. Lots of miscues, mistakes, etc.
  11. Yeah….the SAC may take a hit on Sagarin. Still, I think this is an upset. The SAC isn’t “down” as this would imply. No way you go undefeated in the SAC and lose this game normally, in my opinion.
  12. Yep. No idea about where the SAC and SIAC stand. Looks like we are figuring it out, though.
  13. Stunned at this one. Clear shocker of the evening.
  14. I was worried this was going to end up on the Muda Wall of Shame. Fortunately not.
  15. !?!?!?!? Sounds like a whale of a game.
  16. Brebeuf. 24 W. Lafayette. 14 Late 3rd Q
  17. Chatard. 41 Frankfort. 7 Final
  18. Brebeuf. 17 W. Lafayette. 14 6:52 in 3rd
  19. Chatard 41 Frankfort 0 Half
  20. West Lafayette. 14 Brebeuf. 10 Quick TD by Brebeuf :35 left in 2nd Q
  21. West Lafayette 14 Brebeuf 3 :48 seconds left in 2nd Q
  22. West Lafayette. 7 Brebeuf. 3 2nd Q
  23. Chatard 27 Franfort 0 End of 1st Q West Lafayette 7 Brebeuf 0 Early 1st Q
  24. GS, to me, is clearly the favorite coming out of the South. I just think their Regional v. Lawrenceburg likely offers more challenge than their SemiState against either Danville or TriWest (their “preset” opponents). As an aside, I have missed the banter of the EIAC folks around here this year.
  25. As much as it pains me (given the Merrilville lunacy over on Facebook) I think that for the reasons you and BTF have cited, they are more credible than last year. They saw the elephant a couple of times last year so that might suffice in terms of them being more prepared in what they likely face v. Westfield (assuming no upset occurs in the case of Westfield). Even so, I think they are still very much the underdog.
