  1. Hope all is great with you, as well....but....daaaaaaamn, what a crazy page....at least recently. Yes, an interesting start for many of us....though not unexpected on my end (okay....there is Brebeuf...but, after watching them, the "preppies" are legit....much as I hate to admit). But Heck, that's why I enjoy it. I wont ever love the kids or coaches any less. That said, I have been wanting to see East play Chatard for the better part of 14 years. Regardless how this year turns out, I am hoping both schools keep each other on the schedule because, in my opinion, when these two teams are at their best, this is a game real Indiana HS football fans truly want to watch. Seriously, these two teams SHOULD play each other every year. From Chatard's perspective (speaking for myself), I'd love to see this game as much of a fixture as the Cathedral or Roncalli game on the schedule. East has an incredible tradition of excellence. Good luck to your kids.
  2. Can't disagree with that.
  3. Maybe so, but by most every appearance (including one actual game), they weren't winning 3A-5A last year. Aside from that, my sense was that they had a lot of players last year that might not have otherwise been there in a non-COVID world. Do they retain those players? Even if they do, does it matter at all once they face anyone from Central Indiana that is sent North?
  4. I'm assuming no less than "17 D1 players" since they are (reportedly) even better than last year. I wonder if they will also receive " 5 offers from army and navy" that "decided to go to marion (sic)" just like last year. With that, you can anticipate that if they lose to another team there will be "5" or "7" or "11" starters who didn't play (for a variety of reasons that only seem to exclude a mass kidnapping from ancient aliens)....regardless, the number of missing starters in any loss seems to be variable. But aside from that, they are the best team in the State of Indiana. I think I've covered it generally.
  5. I don’t think they’ve played in the last 10 years. The last time they played it was most likely that any Cathedral “Home” game would have been at Tech.
  6. That parcel was always problematic. RV Welch built that office building fronting Emerson (might have actually been his first office project) and the lower level and elevators in that building were always underwater. Add that most all of that parking lot was notorious for flooding back in the day.
  7. It appears that has been worked on somewhat. It does bear mentioning that Brebeuf and Warren Central’s defenses did have some say in causing those woes. No slouches there…
  8. Roncalli 28 Chatard 21 Chatard ball 7:20 in 4th
  9. Old Uncle Mark, Whatever our disagreement, I actually think you would be a fan of Chatard if you ever watched them. I'm not a Catholic but my wife and kids are and I adore the school.. I've often regretted not having attended there and felt some jealousy of my kids (even after writing the tuition check). These kids are quite often undersized but are fearless and will never back down. They will claw and scrape to the end...win or lose....most often winning. That ethos served my oldest well in college ball and, now, as an executive. I was fortunate enough to stumble into an athletic scholarship during college but my oldest son in 8th grade was a better football player than I ever was in HS because of CYO. In HS, he became even better.. Again, I think you would be a fan of our kids if you ever watched them Thank you. Bryan Miller
  10. Just one conversation prior to last years’ Merrillville/Chatard game on the GID. “Anyone know if Jr. Merrillville RB Lavarion Logan was at at Joliet Catholic last year? Name sounds familiar." Response: "Logan was at Merrillville as a freshman and Joliet Catholic as a sophomore...yes..you are right” A conversation from last year. I also recall hearing folks from Merrillville beating their chest about Morton kids playing for them last year. Not a single D1 kid last year played for Chatard in that Merrillville multi D1 kid curb stomp. Seriously, my sense was that NE Indiana kids moved between schools for Football pretty much on a daily basis…and often as not openly bragged about it....yet Catholic schools have some unfair advantage when the same kids play for them from 3rd to 12th grade and never leave the system. Also, for the record, there is a WORLD of difference between Cathedral and the Archdiocese schools like Chatard, Roncalli, Ritter and Scecina.
  11. “Yep”. I swear to God as well (still out of “thank you’s”) Merrillville could knock down Tampa Bay per Cody. Sadly, he and his ilk seem to dominate there. ……an even better reason to steer folks of reason to the GID.
  12. “Ouch!”, to some prior posters above. I’m all out of “Thank You’s” for the day….but I owe you. With that, the DAC folks on Facebook are, quite literally, out of their minds.
  13. Well played, sir. I’d give you a “laugh” but I’m all out of them today…but you will get them tomorrow.
  14. A modest Indianapolis Catholic with no D1 players vs. a DAC team roughly 3 X the size loaded up with Chicago region transfer players. A Region team with somewhere between 5 (seen posted here on the GID) to 15 D1 players. That chest beating was incessant last year. To no avail…apparently.
  15. Sounds right just last year…just before their beat down while visiting a Central Indiana 3A team late last Fall.
  16. Seriously, go check out the “Indiana HS Football Fans” Facebook page. Seems like 1/2 of those folks seem to think the DAC is the strongest football conference in the state. Never been a drug guy (Hell, I’ve never tried the whole “pot” thing) but do people still do LSD? Apparently they still do there.
  17. Thank you….and bless you. I can now stop searching for my vision of “Muda in the Wilderness”. You nailed my “high end” vision. That said, I was more inclined to “Naked and Afraid” Senior version but I couldn’t find a picture that I could post without getting me banned.
  18. Gotta be honest, despite the fact that I am damn proud that my kids had the opportunity to represent the Bishop Chatard Trojans on the field some years back, I have nothing but INCREDIBLE admiration for the Center Grove Trojans after watching this video. WOW.....just WOW!!!!
  19. I just hope it’s not a preview of Week One of Sectionals.
  20. “Fraud” being the operative word. With which IMG and ESPN are willing participants. Clearly IMG knew from the year prior what was going on…..and ESPN must have intentionally been averting their eyes.
  21. I understand your thinking and respect it.......and I don't get too hung up about rankings outside of the analytic rankings. My feeling about Chatard is about the same as it has been. They are a solid, solid group but have the misfortune of following a couple of teams that likely rank amongst some of the best Chatard teams (especially the 2019 group). They are a bit undersized vs traditional teams. Additionally, for whatever reason, they are also not seeming to be able to convert extra points or field goals...which is, hopefully, fixable. With all that, they are playing an even more challenging early schedule than these prior teams. I think upcoming Roncalli is a Top 10 All Classes group....and they are HUGE. Upcoming Cathedral last year essentially proved that the only team in all of Indiana or Ohio that was better than they were was Center Grove....and that game was lost in the final seconds. I expect them to again be at that level this year- No. 1 or No. 2 in all of Indiana. Warren Central remains to be seen but I think its quite likely they end up a Top 10 Team...especially with Kirschner at the helm. Brebeuf, by all rights appears to be legit....add that Chatard had 4 turnovers that game and, I believe, only 1 extra point on 3 TDs...still Brebeuf is for real by all appearances...I think they are damn good. In the Warren Central game, once again, I think Chatard only had 1 extra point conversion on 4 TDs. Otherwise, its a 28-36 game with Chatard having the ball in the last minute of the game (final score actually ending up 36-25). It remains to be seen just how Chatard fares playing Roncalli and Cathedral and that will tell me a lot more. But here is the question I'm asking myself following the Warren Central game (it's not a question I would have asked prior). Other than Roncalli, could any of the teams listed above prevent Warren Central from putting them on the wrong side of a running clock....let alone actually lead Warren a good part of the game?
  22. I’m hard pressed to say who is No. 1-3 specifically but I think your Top 3 ARE the top 3. Random thoughts. GIbson Southern’s big win over Columbus North looms larger to me with North’s win over Columbus East. I originally considered West Lafayette’s opening win over Lafayette Jeff significant but now am not so sure after Jeff’s last effort. Brebeuf is solid and their two wins seem strengthened even more in light of Chatard’s competitive game against Warren Central (as well as their dominating win v. New Pal). One other thought regarding the upcoming Culver Academy game v. Brebeuf. They always seem to inexplicably play tough v. Brebeuf. I generally have Brebeuf a +21 favorite in those games and they are seldom more than a 3-10 point spread. 3A could really be interesting…..again.
  23. Good point. Not sure ESPN cared.
