  1. Not only have they competed in 4A, they’ve thrived.
  2. 2 SIAC AND 1 PAC Team in Semi-State. Congrats to SW Indiana!
  3. Scratch that. Got it on 89.1.
  4. I’m listening to 89.1. All I’m hearing is hippie music. Can’t believe there’s no video.
  5. 4A is now wide open. Bit of a shocker.
  6. So sorry to hear. I had noted his absence from here for the last few weeks.
  7. I have a Dead Drop PO Box that you might wish to shunt off some certain illegal substances to before the Feds close in.
  8. Additionally, I’m totally confused about the Success Factor this year. My take on it is that if it were consistent is that there is NO WAY Cathedral should move up next year regardless of this season’s results….same goes for Roncalli. This is Year 1 of the cycle…which is not a rolling cycle (which it likely should be….except it’s NOT).
  9. Tango - no disrespect intended. You guys absolutely kicked the @ss of an AWFULLY good team. In no way shape or form I can’t and won’t diminish that “whoopin” (stated as a Franklin County person with a certain crimson neck). Jeez, whatever folks might want to say about Chatard, they’ve never went up to the next class (4A) and won the Blue ring….only Evansville Memorial has pulled that off as regards 3A moving to 4A….and it’s a damn small number of teams they have joined in doing so in any class (Cathedral, Columbus East and New Palestine). I think we also need to recognize that Memorial is just barely a 3A team to start with as regards enrollment.
  10. First, I agree that the Success Factor has achieved some of its goals. But, as in most all legislation, there is the “law of unintended consequences”. Unexpectedly, I would call the result the “law of unintended excellence” which resulted in the various successes of Columbus East and New Palestine in both their class of origin and their “bumped” class (for the record, only Cathedral and Evansville Memorial have also accomplished that same level of success). I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching their various successes as a fan. I agree, personally, with your thoughts of parochials/privates playing one class above enrollment with no limits on “bumps” (perhaps inferred by you - if not stated). With that, the problem is that not every parochial/private is Cathedral, Chatard, Evansville Memorial, Evansville Matre Dei, Ft. Wayne Dwenger, Ft Wayne Luers, Lafayette Central Catholic, or Roncalli. There are probably another 25 plus parochial/privates that should NOT be penalized by the success of the 8 teams I listed. Believe me, I’d personally like nothing more than to see Chatard a permanent feature in 4A. Even so, I’m not sure the success of the few merits penalizing the majority…..that’s the worry I have. Aside from that, outside of any personal feeling I might have about another private/parochial school, their regular season schedule should not dictate the class they play in. Neither should they be expected to ask the IHSAA to move them up a class.
  11. That particular “noun” or “designation” regardless of context, can no longer be spoken of openly in polite society these days….apparently. No doubt the “verb” may soon be removed from the lexicon as well.
  12. Not as good as last year’s Chatard team (by quite some distance) and I’m not sure I can fairly rank them against Marian and Concordia since I only saw each of those teams once. In my opinion, though, they are the best Brebeuf team I’ve seen since they started playing Chatard consistently again around 12-13 years ago. They flatly beat Chatard first game of the season. It got close near the end but Brebeuf was the definitively better team that night. Think they lost to Andrean that year (2013). 1st year of the SF, btw, if I recall correctly.
  13. I’d argue that 2018 Chatard was “individually” better than 2019 Chatard BUT 2019 Chatard was a much better “team” (as was 2020)…..if that makes sense. I think this year is GS’s year…and I couldn’t be happier for them. They are long overdue for their shot at the Blue. IB. That loss against WL was, regardless of outcome, one of the all time classics and both teams should be proud to have been part of it. Epic game.
  14. I think this is the toughest game GS faces until Thanksgiving weekend, and even then, I think GS is a pretty clear favorite.
  15. @ImparcialObserverJR and @tango, Mrs Lysander has instructed me that I will be in Chicago on Saturday……and I never disobey Mrs. Lysander. Good luck to both squads on Saturday. Hoping I’ll be able to watch online. Stay warm folks.
  16. Good to see you back….it’s been some time.
  17. 1. Errr….thinking you already own “obnoxious” here. 2. I’d add “loathsome” if it wasn’t already reserved for Cathedral simply in general. 3. “Gushing” clearly belongs to PBJ. But he’s a bit elderly and I’m down with that. A Cathedral trifecta. Good for you guys. I’m an import to Indy post college and law school, btw. Growing up poor but honest I refused to allow my kids to be exposed to Cathedral. Chatard was an easy call. Do you really want to do this? Seriously, you tried to ban “Temptation”….are you misguided enough to actually believe the rest of us don’t detest you and Cathedral in general far more than any threat you would impose on “Temptation”. We tolerate you simply based on manners….but we all know you break every rule and flaunt it. What makes the rest of the Catholic schools most angry is that we get associated with it.
  18. I’m hoping it’s a “helluva” game but am more than worried that Chatard is in the crosshairs of a Roncalli team committed to two consecutive dominating State Championship runs. Roncalli has been a special group these last two years faltering only to Chatard last year. That said, most everyone is back at Roncalli….and older, bigger and more physical. Is there any way I can make a Chatard more of an underdog? Regardless how this game plays out, I think it’s interesting to look at the coaches. For those unaware, Roncalli’s head coach, John Rodenberg, now has State Championship rings in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana….which is amazing. There is no coach in Indiana with those credentials. Actually, there is likely no coach in the country with those credentials. Chatard’s head coach is Rob Doyle. He inherited a program from the legendary Vince Lorenzano who won 7 State Championships at Chatard. Coach Doyle was for many years a CYO and later a Freshman Coach at Chatard. Prior to that, he was a quarterback who ended up in both the Andrean HS and Depauw University Hall of Fame. He is also a partner in a law firm that features his name. He has won 2 State Championships in 4 years so far at the helm of Chatard and totally converted the Trojans to a team that will attack you both from the ground and the air. Aside from the game, I simply can’t imagine two coaching staffs that quite match these two teams.
  19. Okay, first, I'll put it out there. This is "kind" of a legit game....despite Chatard being a huge underdog (and I think the only distant threat to Roncalli...outside of East Central). I was reluctant to post it because I generally refuse to call attention to my team of favor (Sorry, Chatard folks are just not like Cathedral fans....we have some modicum of self-awareness and humility...looking forward to the upcoming contretemp that "We are the MOST humble" from Cathedral folks....thinking the subtlety will escape their ego...it's why I love them). Still, this, if it goes down like the first game, it's between the number 1 and 3 teams in 4A (per Sags and CalPreps...although I think it's actually between #1 and #2 in 4A). I consider this the 4A Game of the Week although I also consider Chatard the HUGE underdog in this game.....kind of like last year against Merrillville with their 10+ D1 players. That said, Roncalli isn't Merrillville. Roncalli isn't soft (like Merrillville last year) and they know how dangerous Chatard can be. Roncalli is well coached and simply a BEAST of a team. Chatard was the last team to beat Roncalli which was last year (28-7....which really didn't reflect the closeness of the game in my opinion). This year they played Roncalli closer than anyone else has so far. For anyone who has seen game film, Chatard looks like a Freshman team lining up against the varsity in that game vs. Roncalli (which says a lot more about the HUGE size of Roncalli than the size of Chatard). I'm hoping this game is as good as it can be but it is clearly Roncalli's game to lose. In my opinion, they are literally a Top 5 team All Classes this year. I would have loved to have seen them play some of the teams Chatard did this year like Warren Central and Cathedral. I think it would have secured their spot in the Top 5 if they had. Also, as an aside, to address some of the recent posts I have seen on other threads. The 2019 Chatard team was a Top 5 team All Classes (CalPreps had them as #3 All Classes/Sagarin Predictor had them as #5 All Classes). The 2020 team wasn't a Top 5 team in my opinion but certainly Top 10 All Classes (CalPreps had them as #6 All Classes/#9 Sagarin Predictor/#6 Sagarin Golden Mean). I’m hoping it is as good a game as it can be. Honestly, I think it’s the State Championship…outside of East Central. We’ll see. Go Trojans.
  20. Tango (and TigerFan20 it appears), seems I’ve heard this before……to my eternal regret. Should we just change your avatar to this and be done with it?
  21. Gotta be honest. East Central looked like a force of nature last night. I was SHOCKED at their dominance even though I had picked them to win. About every bad break hit them at the outset yet they just kept doing what they do. There was a kickoff return for a TD that went viral from last week nationally for EC. More than a few plays last night fairly well reflected that same play as regards dominant blocking and line player….total domination. The 4A Champ is coming out of the South..sorry guys, no disrespect. I think it’s already happened 17 of the last 20 years (could be wrong). Unless an absolutely young, undersized, underdog Chatard team or a rising East Central team can pull off the massive upset, Roncalli will roll past Mt. Vernon and cruise versus the proverbial lamb to slaughter from the North at Lucas Oil. Roncalli is one of the best 10 teams in the State and second only to Westfield in the North - All Classes.
  22. Be careful what you wish for……some things are better left undone.
