  1. Watched a few of their games, just don’t think they have the talent to beat Westfield. They had a better chance last year
  2. I would be very shocked if they upset the Shamrocks. I will take Westfield by 20+ if it comes down to this matchup. Much more battle tested
  3. Chatards defense is just too good for Merrillville. MV has their most hyped/talented team in a long time and can’t come through. Them or Jeff will come out of sectional 1 but just don’t have the teams this year to beat a Westfield caliber team.
  4. Lafayette Jeff 77 Richmond 6 Final Bishop Chatard takes over on downs up 38-21 with 5:30 left in the 4th. Chatard makes up for what could be considered a talent difference between the teams with consistent, disciplined football. A disappointing game for the Pirates. Makes me feel like as long as Westfield beats HSE again, they’ve got a pretty clear path to the title game.

  7. Just saw this one was scheduled on Twitter, has to be the best matchup of the year that Covid has brought us so far. Huge opportunity for Merrillville here to cement themselves as state title contenders with a win next week. Praying this one will be streamed

  15. He didn’t play last week which is gonna hurt his stats. Gonna be tough for him to overcome the weak conference competition since he probably won’t play in most second halves the rest of the season. They would need a deep tourney run for him to have a chance.
  16. Merrillville has a date with HSE or Westfield at semi-state IMO
  17. They were asked to leave. I think the Circle City would be a good spot for them for football. Play all 4 of those schools, 3 local non-conference games with West Lafayette, Harrison and McCutcheon. That leaves them 2 more games to play some other big boys across the state. Duneland would be a trek but still has to be worth not having 6 gimme-wins every year. But have to keep in mind this would affect all sports which would make it more difficult on sports like baseball and basketball to have to find a lot of more opponents to schedule
  18. I agree, but just speaking theoretically where else would they even fit in at? They would at least be another competitive team in the HCC and it’s a 45-60 minute drive to all those schools which isn’t ideal but also not terrible. I know it’s most likely not going to happen but they need to go somewhere Lack of competitiveness had to be the main reason
  19. Really wish Jeff could join a new conference because they need stronger competition badly, but i really just don’t see any options. The past 3 years they would probably fit right in the 4-5 spot in the HCC. They’ve taken down Westfield and Noblesville in sectionals recently and also played Carmel good 2 years ago, were even up 14-0 on them. Would be hard for them to be the only Lafayette school to leave the NCC. Harrison would probably be the the second worst HCC team this year ahead of Franklin Central (could maybe beat Noblesville but i doubt it) and McCutcheon is just a lost cause at this point. Really nowhere for them to go, but they have surely made themselves a reputable opponent in the past 5 years
