  1. Nailed it. Embarrassing that the committee views a loss to a single player more damaging than an actual loss on the field. Basically told every single ACC team going forward that you don't control you own destiny and the only avenue to the CFP is hope and pray there are enough SEC/B10 teams with (several) losses in front of you.
  2. Bama LOST to Texas and beat LSU by a lesser margin than FSU did. Tennessee was good in name only this year.
  3. Patsy Central? They scheduled LSU and Florida in the non-conference. Name another P5 team in America that scheduled two SEC opponents in the non-conference. It’s not FSU’s fault Florida sucks. They went 13-0 in a P5 conference on top of playing LSU and Florida. That should get you in the CFP every damn year. The CFP has made it clear on-field results no longer matter. This is the end of the ACC is we know it. Clemson, Miami, FSU are on the first flight out.
  4. Florida State can’t control their schedule anymore than Alabama can and they won every game on it. Clearly the criteria is to guarantee an auto-bid for one SEC team and find 3 other teams to compete all while saying so and so metric was used when in reality it wasn’t.
  5. That isn’t how it has ever worked. Florida State was 2-0 against the SEC this year with both games being away from home. You’re basically saying results don’t matter. An undefeated P5 team has never been left out of the playoff until today…at the expense of an SEC for TV ratings.
  6. Serious question; if roles were reversed and Alabama was staring at a 13-0 season without its starting QB available for the CFP, is the committee leaving them out? Not a chance in hell. Wasn’t all that long ago Ohio State won the whole damn thing with their 3rd string QB. Anyone remember any discussion about leaving Ohio St out? I don’t. This is a pure money grab. Bama draws more eyeballs than Florida St, nothing more nothing less. You won’t convince me FSU would have been in WITH a healthy QB given the way this weekend played out. The committee would have just move their criteria goal posts from “FSU has no QB” to “Alabama played in a better conference”. Brett McMurphy reporting the ACC has entered into any bowl conversations with their partners. Total ACC bowl boycott would be an appropriate response given they’ve basically been labeled a G5 conference by thf committee.
  7. Why even play the games anymore? FSU should accept their NY6 invite and back out at the 11th hour.
  8. Yikes FSU down to -220 to make playoffs. They may be getting screwed after all. Why even play the games?
  9. If the opt outs are relatively low I agree.
  10. Lol. Florida State is -500 to make the playoffs. Hate to break it to you, but they’re getting in and deservedly so. They’re undefeated and 2-0 against the SEC.
  11. He said it in front of an IU crowd at Assembly Hall. What’s he supposed to say? We’re going 3-9 next year. Too many people looking way too far into this.
  12. He played this year as a 5th year and may have a 6th year available still with all the COVID madness.
  13. I've said this before, and David Bell was AWESOME, but you could seriously make a case that Romeir Elliott was the best player on that Warren team. At least the most impactful. He rushed for ~3100 yards, 38 TD's and had another 200 receiving yards and 3 TDs. You won't find many 6A backs who play on an undefeated state championship team with those kind of stats who didn't win Mr. Football. I'm not even sure he was considered.
  14. I can definitely see him being petty like that given his outspoken criticisms of not being named the FSU coach.
  15. He coached at IU as a GA from 2016-2018 and then found his way on staff at JMU in the last year or two. It's being widely speculated that he will join Cignetti in Bloomington.
  16. He'd be taking one of those jobs for the sole reason to spite Florida State. He's not happy they passed him over for Mike Norvell a few years back.
  17. 1. He's from Pittsburgh, played QB at West Viriginia and has spent the majority of his time coaching in PA and the colonial states outside his stint at Alabama with Saban. Looks like most of his JMU roster is from the DMV and surrounding areas with a fair amount of FL kids. There's a fair amount of talent on JMU that has the potential to follow him which isn't uncommon in this climate. 2. There's currently three coaches on his staff that all have IU ties; Pat Kuntz DL coach (Roncalli/ND/IU GA 16-18), Bryant Haines DC/LB coach (Ball State grad and former position coach at IU), and Marcus Hall-Oliver DB coach/recruiting coordinator (IU position coach under Allen). Expect most if not all those guys to follow him as they will all be receiving major pay raises. He resurrected that Indiana-Pennsylvania program that his father once built, went 14-9 in two seasons at Elon as they were coming off 8 consecutive losing seasons, and then obviously inherited a strong JMU program that he transitioned into FBS going 8-3, 11-1 the last two seasons. Think you're selling his resume a little short. Recruited Phillip Rivers and Russell Wilson to NC State during his time as their QB coach and responsible for recruiting guys like Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Donta Hightower, etc to Alabama.
  18. Cignetti the guy. On paper, might be the best coach IU has hired in a long damn time.
  19. *Candle not Campbell (would be dope if it were Matt) but sounds like Cignetti may be imminent. Honestly had never heard of him till this year and 62 seems like an odd reach, but have been watching different clips of him the last hour or so and his resume doesn’t lie. Probably the best outcome you could hope for as an IU fan.
  20. Who was going to invest in a lame duck coach?
  21. -Jason Candle--Head Coach Toledo -Paul Chryst--Current Texas analyst/former Wisconsin head coach -Justin Frye--Ohio State run game coordinator/OL coach (IU alum) -Mike Hart--RB coach Michigan Take your pick, death is not an option.
  22. Alabama needed to convert a 4th and 31 just for this weekend to mean anything. Alabama is being carried by their name only.
  23. Alabama LOST to Texas on their home field yet you're advocating their inclusion over Texas. Alabama and Florida State have one mutual opponent: LSU. FSU beat them by 28, Alabama 14. Yeah they aren't the same team without their QB but they've EARNED their way into the playoff more so than Alabama. Why play the season in the first place? Put Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan in every year and don't worry about anything else.
  24. Right because it's a money grab, not because they didn't deserve to get in. If you go undefeated in a P5 conference and don't get in over a team who didn't even win their own division there's nothing really else to say.
  25. Well that's just it, there's no set criteria. It seems to switch every season. One year it's about best wins and the next year it's about quality losses. And the year after that they value conference champions.
