2024 6A Who can win it all?
Boilernation replied to KmartGiant's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I was watching one of the CWS games over the weekend, possibly NC State vs. Kentucky, and the entire announcing crew took a deep dive into essesntially scolding parents and baseball coaches for not allowing today's athletes to play multiple sports. They said MLB scouts prefer to see multi-sport athletes. They mentioned that a lot of the great baseball players from Puerto Rico were also very good volleyball players. Especially Carlos Beltran. One of them claimed that Beltran was better at volleyball than baseball. -

Of course they'll get the attention as the best, but he's basically telling us water is wet and prove him wrong. -

Are you sure about that? Outside of contradicting yourself, it sounds like you only care about 4 teams. Everyone else is irrelevant or a chump. -
The best college baseball program in Indiana?

I think it was the 4th time. Not sure. Once again they bounce back get a must needed W. Today didn't go there way, but they could have just played the National Champion in Knoxville, -
The best college baseball program in Indiana?

I figured they got East Carolina's attention after beating them in the opener. The Pirates worked their way through the losers bracket and then pummeled Evansville last night. That's impressive of Evansville to bounce back and take the winner take all rematch today. That's not an easy atmosphere to go on the road and win in. -

Pretty wild that Evansville went down south and took the East Carolina Regional. Next up is Tennessee in Knoxville for the Super-Regional. -
Me too! Seems like it was more of a case of the NFL telling the Bears they are hosting Hard Knocks. In other news, the Illinois State Legislature won't be acting on the Bears funding request for a new stadium this Spring. Those talks are on hold at least until the Fall. I'll continue to hold out hope the Bears will end up moving to Arlington Heights.

Updates so far: DJ Moore says it's different with Williams, "When you turn around the all is just there." ESPN Chicago Bears Beat Reporter says Booker stands out on the field as very long. Phyically looks the part of a good Edge Rusher

Haha. I just noticed the pink finger nail polish. Nice touch. The high heal might be a little above the allowed length for cleats.

As his good friend Herm Edwards would say, "You play to win the game!"

Interesting. Albert Breer has a weekly segment on Kap & J.Hood and Kaplan had reported in the past few months some of what was listing in Breer's SI article: The Head of Scouting and West Coast scout told Poles he needed to get out to LA and he'd find out the smoke around Williams was BS Poles instructed all scouts interacting with Oklahoma, USC or DC bred players to find out what they knew about Williams and everything they heard was positive Kingsbury told Poles that Williams' dad was only seen once at USC facilities and he's not a distraction The Bears learned that Williams was loved by his teammates at OU and USC Williams has a very high football IQ Off topic, but it's still wild to think all of this started because Lovie won the last game of the year in Indy.

Gregg Doyel Antics With Caitlin Clark

The only fitting end to this story is for Doyel to publically cancel himself. -
Have you listened to any of the Williams or Odunze interviews? I hope they both play as well as the talk. Seems like 2 guys who just get it. Regarding Caleb, it makes sense that all the Bears heard about him is that his teammates and coaches love him. I loved the draft as well. The OL from Yale and Booker are both very high upside guys. That OL is a local guy. He played at Hinsdale Central. Not sure how I feel about taking the Aussie in the 4th round, but he was a beast at Iowa.

I'm counting 4 while looking through the draft trackers. Let me know if I missed anyone. Round 2 Pick 39: Braden Fiske, DL, Michigan City > Western Michigan > Florida State > Rams Round 2 Pick 59: Blake Fishers, OL, Avon > Notre Dame > Texans Round 4 Pick 129: Isaac Guerendo, RB, Avon > Wisconsin > Louisville > 49'ers Round 5 PIck 166: Tyrone Tracy Jr, RB, Decatur Central > Iowa > Purdue > Giants

Apparently there will be underground parking. Of course it will be limited and make tailgating impossible. I had suite tickets 2 years ago for the Lions game that came with an underground spot north of the stadium between Soldier Field and the Field Museum. It sucked. Felt like I was going to a mall and not a sporting event.
-
This really needs to go to a ballot. I think the $4B pricetag itself also includes some massive infrastructure changes around the stadium. Possibly diverting Lake Shore Drive underground near the stadium was one of the more drastic changes I've heard.

You'll love this. The tax payers of Cook County still owe over $600 Million in debt for the 2002 renovation of Soldier Field. I've heard a reliable source in Chicago say the Bears are having trouble receiving financing to develop their property in Arlington Heights because of the uncertainty surrounding the property tax rates of the former Arlington Race Track. There is an organization in Chicago called "Friends of the Park" who actually carry some weight and will likely protest the new stadium. They successfully blocked George Lucas from building (with his own money) a $750 Million George Lucas musuem near the lakefront. He's now building in Los Angeles. Based on renderings it looks like the new stadium will be where the Waldron parking deck and South lot currently are. They are basically the only public parking available for Soldier Field. It'll be interesting to see how much of a nightmare it'll be to actually get to games at the current Soldier Field with the new stadium under construction.
-
And less than 24 hours from the Bears announcing a new domed stadium on the lakefront. At this point i'm losing hope that the Bears are playing hardball to get a better tax rate in Arlington Heights and are actually considering a new lakefront stadium (likely owned by Chicago Parks Department) over controlling an entire entertainment complex in Arlington Heights. A lakefront stadium is appealing for sitelines, but it's a nightmare to get to for spectators because of Lake Shore Drive and the train lines.

And? I could never imagine feeling the need to point out a grammatical error in a message board post. You be you guy.
