  1. Agree on helping Fields, but, I just randomly looked at 2 Mock Drafts. Both had the Bears taking DL at 2 (Carter in one and Anderson in the other). Neither mock had a WR going in the Top 10. The 6'4 WR from TCU was the first WR being taken in both mocks. I don't know much about him. Jordan Addison was next and he's projecting at mid 1st round. You want the Bears to take a WR at 2 if the player isn't even a top 10-20 pick on most boards? IMO, that's very risky when you have the luxury of picking between Carter or Anderson.
  2. Now that the dust had settled I feel better about the situation. I wish Allen well and I look forward to watching him wherever he ends up; however, it's clear he wasn't going to be anointed QB1 by Brohm or Walters/Harrell wihtout a competition. At the end of the day Walters has to make the tough decisions that he feals are necessary to win. And as Coach alluded above, the odds were likely stacked against Allen at Purdue considering he's not the prototypical QB for Harrell's offense. Still, IMO, the Twitter video was cringe. I'll accept that this stuff is the norm for some coaches in modern day college athletics, but I'll never enjoy it. Seems childish.
  3. This would be incredible. I'm sure there a few teams desperate enough for a QB that would give up a lot to get ahead of Houston in the draft order. Every mock I've seen has the Bears taking either the DT from Georgia or Alabama. I know the Bears badly need a Tier 1 WR; however, can they really pass on of those DT's? The DL was gutted this year and either one of those guys should be an instant impact player.
  4. Look at Michigan. It's amazing. They don't have a single Top 100 HS Recruit. BUT, they have the #2 rated Transfer Portal Class (still unreal to me this is our reality) with at least 5 guys that can start right away. Has Harbaugh cracked the secret code to recruiting? Why waste time sweating out committments to stupid hat ceremonies and the likes of Nick Saban coming in on signing day with a sales pitch and NIL deal too good to pass up. Just bring in guys who you know can peform at a level you need from playing against them or watching them on tape.
  5. Major cringe. Ugh. I don't like the look this entire situation sends to potential recruits from Indiana as well as coaches.
  6. I hope he makes Purdue regret losing him as well just not while in the Big Ten. I only watched him play 1 HS football game and I came away thoroughly sold that he wasn't just showing the difference between a BIg 10 and MAC recruit, moreso that he was showing the difference between a high end to low end Big Ten recruit. The throws he was making in that game against Brebeuf were elite. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do at Purdue when given the chance.
  7. Whether it was his discussions on his age or ability at the College level, I feel like this guy was such a controversial player coming out of HS. Hope he does well at Ball State, even though I'm convinced he was at least 20 by the time he came to IU.
  8. It really is. I couldn't imaging getting paid that much money to coach FB and then complaining that another coach is negatively recruiting against me. That's something you keep in house. It could be worse. At least he's not pulling a Dabo and claiming that he builds his programs NIL in God's name, image, and likeliness.
  9. Yep. He's not going to sit the bench. The musical chairs of QB's is pretty wild to see. I can't believe I just saw Slovis and JT Daniel's were back in the portal and have found new schools.....AGAIN.
  10. Spot on! Honestly, they could be sending a message to Allen that if you want the job you're going to face adversity and earn it in the Spring against some real competition. But, if they strikeout in the portal and/or a portal transfer doesn't produce, they're going to look foolish if Allen does end up transferring somewhere. On the flip side, maybe this is Allen's move to force Walters/Harrell into proving that their plan for an offensive scheme is good enough for Allen to stay. You see Fleck is already accusing Fickell of negative recruiting against Minnesota? That could be a nice littler rivalry brewing in the West.
  11. Supposedly Purdue is the leader to land Hudson Card who is a former Top 100 recruit that lost the Texas job to Ewers. It's possible Allen wasn't too happy that Harrell/Walters were looking at the portal for a QB. Card played a few games this year when Ewers was hurt and put up very solid numbers. It's entirely possible he could be an upgrade considering Allen has never started a Big Ten game.
  12. Well this just F'n sucks. I've been excited for this kid to be QB1. Have to wonder if he and Harrell didn't gel or Harrell wasn't sold on Allen and wanted to work the portal himself. Or, the the last of the Brohm clan that was allowed to stay in WL for some idiotic reason is in his hear about going to Louisville or wherever Brian Brohm may land.
  13. Unreal. Wake Forest is going to let him play in their Bowl Game even though it's likely he's going to transfer to ND after the season? This and the North Carolina QB reportedly receiving multi-million dollar offers to leave Chapel Hill when he's not even in the transfer portal is absolutelycrazy.
  14. These kids are still doing the stupid hat tricks? And then he didn't even sign with Oregon? What a joke. lol. 100%. All day. Oklahoma came in at the last minute with a better offer than Oregon. End of story. And this kid will be a signing day punch line for the rest of his life even if he doesn't see the NFL.
  15. I'm surprised Johnson wants out considering Walters was hired. To me that says he may want to play at a bigger progrom for a season.
  16. To clarify, I think he'll be good. But legitimately competing for Big Ten titles good on a consistant basis, I'll wait and see.
  17. I would say Nebraska since their coach has already proved his worth at Baylor after rebuilding Temple. Fickell had the benefit of coaching an NFL laden roster when running Ohio State. I'm not 100% sold he's going to succeed at Wisconsin. I think he can, but time will tell.
  18. This is another reason I'm excited for the expanded CFP. Most Bowl games just don't push the needle for me anymore once all of NFL talent calls it quits.
  19. I'm definately optimistic about the hire. Just as a Purdue fan accustomed to not having nice things I'm convinced this will be a stepping stone for him if he does succeed. IF that becomes a possibility, I would like to see if Purdue goes all in financially to keep the wolves at bay.
  20. That's awesome. Love the way technology can give us a glimpse behind the curtain from time to time.
  21. Likely. My guess is it either doesn't work or he's wildly succesful and moves on to a better program or goes back home to Colorado once Deion uses the Buffs for a better gig.
  22. Agreed, but is this kind of expected? I would think most Coordinators don't want to wait around to see if the new boss will keep them. Has it been reported that they're going after Beamer or do you have good sources? Seems like it could just be a cash grab by him and his agent to float his name for South Carolina to pay him more. I do like Walters even though he's a defensive oriented coach. I like that he has experience building a very solid defense without 4 and 5 star recruits.
  23. I would be highly in favor of this. I rather Purdue hire someone that isn't going to use Purdue as a stepping stone. Monken is mid '50's with a lot of experience as an OC in college and the NFL. I would like to think he would pull a Joe Tiller and just ride a HC job out to retirement.
  24. This. Same with Orgeron. I would hire him every day to coach my DL and recruit, but I dont want him as the CEO of the program. I do wonder if Leonard's celing is DC and there's nothing wrong with that if it is his celing.
  25. I hope they pass on Leonhard. Could be Brohm 2.0. My fear is he would use Purdue as a stepping stone to prove to Wisconsin he can run a B1G program. Plus, he's defensive minded. I much rather Purdue find an offensive minded HC. Honestly, I just hope whoever they hire doesn't view Purdue as a stepping stone and is committed to the long haul.
