  1. Fair points. I guess I view Merrillville the same way @temptation and many others view Brownsburg in the playoffs: I don't trust the Pirates.
  2. Non football related, but I read yesterday that Memphis basketball player Tyreek Smith has hit the portal before playing a single game for Memphis. And he was already paid $175K in NIL since committing to Memphis. Supposedly, he didn't like the way the rest of his NIL agreement was going to be handled. Yikes. As far as I can tell this guy isn't a legit NBA prospect. I can't help buy wonder how these cash grab decisions will impact college players in the real world. No F'n way would I hire someone with a track record of jumping schools for the highest NIL deal.
  3. Good point. Outside of the move in from Tennessee who is going to Ball State, I believe all of their top talent were starters last season. I'm fairly certain the QB going to Miami(OH) has been a starter since his Freshman year at Hobart. He's solid. I really like the way Crown Point plays offensively. A good mix of power running out of jumbo sets and efficient passing plays with Ehrling. The TE going to Indiana State and the 6'2 220'ish ATH who is a Junior and already has power conference offers are very nice options in the passing game. Buzea and Co. know how to scheme offense. I wouldn't be surprised if Penn hung around for a while. The Kingsmen are arguably the toughest team Crown Point will have played all year. Might take a while to get into a good rhythm. Penn's passing attack kept this game from turning into a blowout last year. They tore apart the CP secondary. No idea if Penn can still throw the ball around this year.
  4. IF Flus is let go then Ben Johnson has to be priority number one, correct? The only other hot OC at the moment is you know who in Washington. IDK, seems like OC should be the ceiling for KK in the NFL or College. Personally, I would prefer an offensive minded HC if Flus can't figure out how to right the ship.
  5. OL still sucks. Kmet is apparently just a pass blocker and long snapper now. Defense is banged up. Waldron sucks. Flus is probably out. Poles has some tough decisions to make. Warren won't stop talking about putting cranes in the sky on the lakefront. Shame on me for thinking this year would be any different. I think CW will be fine. Downfield accuracy is an issue, but he's clearly a rhythm passer and he can't get into a rhythm with that joke of an OL or Waldron's play calling. Hard to really judge him until he's playing in a competent system. It is clear at this point he has the ability to be great.
  6. Oh, for F's sake. Does he have any idea what Brian Flores would have done to Richardson? Doyel should stick to writing heartworming fluff pieces about people he encounters across the state. Those are about all he is good for as a journalist.
  7. And those big plays were on poorly thrown jump balls. I just don't understand why a team would go spread and try to throw the ball around the field when accuracy is a major issue.
  8. Snider rolled into the '94 5A Semi State at Portage with multiple charter busses and completely packed the visitor side, which was before Portage replaced their bleachers and had a fairly large visitor side. No chance that happens in 2024. To easy to avoid the long drive west on 30 and just watch the game on Summit City Sports.
  9. That's not really saying much. From a 6A standpoint Elkhart had the worst offense I've personally seen this year. Nice! His sister lives or at least used to live in Carmel. I randomly met his parents in Carmel a year or so ago. VERY nice people. Mom was proudly wearing a vintage Steelers shirt.
  10. Technically, 4 teams with a winning record if you count the team from Arizona. Crown Point is essentially a HCC team stuck playing a schedule beneath their ability. I think it would be wise of them to drop Lowell, but that may never happen considering that is a very long standing south Lake County rivalry game. No idea what they have planned for Week 2 next year. And the DAC is a 5A Conference until Lake Central and Portage figure out how to play football again or Penn and Elkhart get brought in. I wouldn't count them out against Westfield or one of the HSE schools just becuase of their schedule. They have talent everywhere including high end talent (5 D1 recruits, 4 if you don't count Indiana State), very good line play, and elite coaching. They've steamrolled their entire schedule, which is what I would expect from a potential Top 5 team not playing an HCC or MIC caliber schedule.
  11. Oh, I agree that Elkhart had a lot of athletes and the WR's were winning the jump balls like you said. They just didn't have the passing ability to run the offense they tried throwing at Snider, IMO.
  12. I get what you're saying. Kind of of impossible to sugar coat it. Neither QB was was capable of throwing the ball last night. I thought Sndier handled the situation better in the 2nd half by dialing up what appeared to be a few simple single read plays that fooled the Elkhart D. To cue Denny Green, Elkhart was who we thought they are. They have a huge, athletic and talented DL and that's about it. A majority of their passing yards came on poorly thrown jump balls. I don't get why they continued to try forcing the ball downfield in the passing game. Especially when the QB kept going Will Levis and not just taking a sack when nothing is there. Elkhart was very lucky the 2nd INT wasn't a pick 6 as well. That ball can't be thrown.
  13. Personally ,I don't think the timezone difference is that big of a game changer. It wasn't a roadblock that couldn't be cleared years ago when Penn was ready to accept an invitation. Worst case scenario they can limit games against Crown Point, Merrillville and Lake Central to Friday / Saturday. Looking at Penn's basketball schedule for this year and I see 5 DAC opponents on the schedule. It's fairly common now for DAC foes to be on Penn athletic schedules.
  14. There you go! Book a few of the jets that fly out of Indy Exec Airport on SR 32, fly into Gary International or Porter County Regional in Valpo and then charter some busses to Crown Point.
  15. Jurko is awesome. I work in Finance and crunch numbers all day in front of a computer so I probably listen to at least 6-8 hours per day of Chicago sports talk while working. Byard, Johnson, Kmet and Moore all publically criticized the following coaching decisions yesterday to the media: Kramer time Fade pass on 1st and goal when Washington only had 1 TO left Not defending the sideline when Washington still needed about 15 yards to get into range for Daniel's to reach the EZ Not calling TO before the Hail Mary pass. If I were Kmet I would corner Waldron and ask him why I wasn't more involved in the passing game. Nonetheless, do you think that aligns with your previous belief that the Bears should be player led? Man, this team badly needs a W in the desert to put the stench of Washington past them.
  16. Pure hunch on my part, but I have a feeling Snider rolls Elkhart by double digits. I'll take the coach/program with a history of success over the upstart with a 1st year coach and an offense that has failed to show up against any team with a pulse.
  17. Interesting. I haven't heard about that. Whitestown gets their water from Citizens and has no issues that I'm aware of. I'm in Whitestown daily. I can see the infrastructure being put in all over the place to support new development as well as new neighborhoods getting built. This is all within the Lebanon district around Gold Club of Indiana (West of I-65 and West of Indianapolis Road) as well as to the east / north / near south of the old town of Whitestown. The neighborhoods that line Indianapolis Road feed into Zionsville as well as the neighborhoods east of I-65 and south of 500 South. Here's a recent article about a new development proposal that mentions Whitestown is planning on going from 13-14K in population to 26-30K within 10 years. A huge percent of that growth has to come form the Lebanon district. There's not much left to develop in the Zionsville district. I have no idea how much that will increase Lebanon's enrollment. https://fox59.com/news/110-million-retail-and-housing-development-proposed-in-whitestown/
  18. I hear yeah, but the growth isn't in Lebanon. It's in Whitestown and that town is booming with construction. Only a small portion of the south end of Whitestown feeds into Zionsville. The rest of Whitestown, where the growth is planned, feeds into Lebanon. I think it'll become a reality. The infrastructure is already being added North and West of Whitestown for more growth. Whether that moves the needle on Lebanon's enrollment will remain to be seen.

  20. lol...blood thirst is correct! Do you listen to Carmen & Jurko at all? Jurko is a Region guy from Cal City and he had a lengthy NFL career at DT. He usually has good insight. He agreed with you that there's no way Flus was going to go public with reprimanding Stevenson. IDK, it just really pisses me off that he stood by the stance the D was set and they didn't need a TO. Just admit you didn't see what Stevenson was doing. Everything I've heard from Chicago media is that Poles loves Flus and he's not on the hot seat. At the very least I hope they don't bring Waldron back if the offense remains shakey the rest of the season.
  21. Whatever Stevenson's punishment is for the situation should be kept in house. But, I don't see anything wrong with calling out a player in the media. Players need to be held accountable. Stevenson is a walking flag waiting to happen every game. He was also hit with a 15 yard unsportsman like conduct call in this game. I'm glad you brought up the Steelers. I 100% agree with you regarding them staying consistent. But, I really don't think Tomlin would have brushed off reporters after the game or a day later and said they didn't need to call a TO because everyone was in their correct position even though one guy is completely out of hte play and engaging fans. That's just tone deaf. The Steelers have a long history of winning because of good leadership. The Bears have finally figured out the McCaskey's can't be in charge of the ship. They made the right choice by bringing in Warren as President. Warren is the first President of Football Ops the McCaskey's have hired that wasn't a McCaskey or wasn't a career Accountant with no football experience (Phillips). At this point the Bears need to make sure they have the correct HC before trying to venture down the path of building longevity at the HC position. And if someone like Ben Johnson is available in the offseason the Bears should really consider getting into that market if the Bears finish out 9-8 with shaky offensive play. Otherwise, they better cut ties with Waldron quickly. They have CW and Odunze on very friendly contracts and Moore locked up for years. Starting next year the offense should be a finely tuned machine. So far Waldron is just not cutting it.
  22. Nope. And the Fridge was used with a few minutes left in the 4th quarter and the Bears had clearly already won the game. The brilliant decision to put in an OL to carry the ball at the GL came while trailing Washington in the 4th quarter.
  23. Lebanon and possibly Danville would likely outgrow that conference very quickly. Whitestown is planning on doubling their current population. A majority of that will fall inside of the Lebanon district as the area that feeds into Zionsville doesn’t have much room for more housing. Danville is supposedly expecting large growth as well.
  24. Dupe post.
