Great message. I genuinely believe George wants the Bears to be good, but he just doesn't know enough about football to make it happen on his own. It's not like he's just sitting in an old money mansion up in some prestine older North Shore suburb and counting his cash like Reinsdorf probably does. The guy is fairly down to earth. He lives way out by DeKalb and volunteers as an ump for Illinois HS sports. Supposedly, he even walks the tailgates before games and talks to fans. Bears fans celebrated when they finally hired a President of Football Operations that wasn't a McCaskey or a career Financial Accountant (Phillips). Hopefully, hiring Johnson AND freaking building an OL is what finally turns the franchise around.

Agreed on all accounts. It's clear the 12 team playoff will help teams like Ohio State (i.e. enough talent to beat anyone but stumbled a few times in the regular season). I'm sure ND's coaches will kick themselves for allowing Smith to get into man coverage with no help over the top on a key 3rd and long. Day said after the game they had a few options on that play and were hoping to get Smith in man coverage. I'm not a big "moral victory" type of guy. But, IMO, to come back from 28-7 to make a game of it late tells me the culture is VERY good at ND. Stating the obvious here, but they need to do anything possible to keep Freeman in South Bend.

Daniel's is a solid QB. And as you said a replacement in ownership brought in a good HC and a good OC. Daniel's also has a solid OL blocking for him. Caleb played behind a garbage OL, had an OC who grossly overcomplicated the offense for a rookie QB and then another OC who didn't change the offense. To try comparing the 2 at this point is about as pointless as when people compared RG3 to Luck after their rookie years. They're both very good QB's and have a lot of ball left to be played. Ironically, that same HC is who the Bears infamously flew middle seat coach to Chicago when he was up against 'Flus for the job.

Dare I saw Kingsbury has a lot of Wade Phillip in him? i.e. Great as a Coordinator. Not great as a HC. I am definately intrigued by Brady and Monken. Monken is a "Chicago" guy as well. He's from Wheaton.

I heard a brief clip of him talking about the NFL on someone's podcast (possibly RG3). He didn't sound like someone interested in the NFL. Mentioned he only spent 1 year in that world and what he knows is College ball. I'm assuming money will never be an issue at Notre Dame, but you never know when a coach will grow tired of NIL + Portal + Recruiting and decide to embrace the challenge of the NFL.

Meh. I'm sure he'll be good. Just not believing he would be "wow" good. High winning percentage and high amount of 10+ win seasons. Everything I'm hearing from the talking heads indicates he's a perfect fit based on the following: Demands accountability in the locker room while still being an easy guy to get a long with Players love him Works well with QB's and helping them understand the right reads pre-snap (i.e. get ball out quick) Plays nice with ownership It seems like he is the safe pick for Poles. Personally, I prefer to go the unknown route with someone like Ben Johnson and hope you have the next McVeigh. That's if Johnson wanted the job.
