  1. I'm hearing Johnson will be around the 7th highest paid coach in the league. Not sure about accuracy. Regardless, the McCaskey's have never opened up the pocket book like this before. I finally listed to the presser. I really liked his comment about the playbook. He said he won't be dropping Detroit's playbook on the table and saying let's go. He said he'll be stripping the playbook down to the studs and rebuilding it around what works for CW. One of Waldron's biggest flaws was not developing a playbook around CW and forcing CW to embrace Waldron's playbook, which a lot of people said was too complicated for a rookie QB.
  2. Gotta give George credit as well for be willing to pay the bag while still paying Flus. Johnson is getting paid. And credit to Poles for moving quickly. I believe they conducted a zoom call on Saturday morning and then locked in a contract on Monday before Johnson even visited Halas Hall.
  3. He's a headcase and was way before Burfict crushed him in Cincinnati. A stud HS WR out of Florida doesn't end up at Central Michigan for no reason.
  4. Agree 1000% on cutting Edmonds. He is not worth the money! Sounds crazy , but I wouldn't mind seeing what they could get in return for Jaylon Johnson. He got his way by getting Flus fired and basically quit at the end of the year. I can't respect that.
  5. Speaking of AM Radio, I was listening to Waddle and Silvy from yesterday and they had on a beat guy from Detroit. I thought he provided some good info. Said that he thinks Johnson is perfect for Chicago. He's an analytics guy, but not in the geeky mold like McDaniel. He said Johnson is very intense and will rip into players to hold them accountable. He also said Johnson is very demanding of the players to play within his structure.
  6. Roschon could be a good comp even though Jeanty is a little shorter. Both physical type of backs. Agreed, nothing like the lightning quick speed of Gibbs.
  7. Very girly Luis Vitton jacket. He should be wearing Carhartt.
  8. 5-12 (as New Gipper keeps throwing out) is a 42% winning percentage, which is on par with Kingsbury win % as HC of Arizona. BUT, becuase he had ONE good year at Washington as an OC Bears fans are delusional if they don't want him as their HC? It's illogical.
  9. That 2nd line is the selling point for me. Why go back to the that life if you can walkaway with a National Title and get an NFL gig?
  10. Waldron would go an entire game without scheming Kmet into the passing game.
  11. NFL? Go out on a high note and not deal with pressure at OSU anymore? That seems to be a popular take. Herbstreit broke down in tears talking about how much crap Day and his family have taken this year in Columbus.
  12. Great message. I genuinely believe George wants the Bears to be good, but he just doesn't know enough about football to make it happen on his own. It's not like he's just sitting in an old money mansion up in some prestine older North Shore suburb and counting his cash like Reinsdorf probably does. The guy is fairly down to earth. He lives way out by DeKalb and volunteers as an ump for Illinois HS sports. Supposedly, he even walks the tailgates before games and talks to fans. Bears fans celebrated when they finally hired a President of Football Operations that wasn't a McCaskey or a career Financial Accountant (Phillips). Hopefully, hiring Johnson AND freaking building an OL is what finally turns the franchise around.
  13. Chris Morgan. Run game Coordinator and OL coach.
  14. How about articulate a better sentence than "months ago" and maybe you won't leave people guessing how to comprehend whatever your point is. And lighten up, geez.
  15. That is hilarious. I know Day is an easy guy to dislike, but I thought his comments immediately after the game were solid.
  16. I think the Titanic sinking was much more of a historical footnote than knowing whether or not the GM of the NY Giants is from Indiana. Why are you so salty?
  17. Careful, Coach. I don't know if you've read through all of the GM dossier's, but New Gipper doesn't like it when old news (to him) is mentioned.
  18. C-MO out? Agreed. OL and DL will be addressed heavily. I just glanced at 4 mocks and 2 of them had Bears going Edge, 1 OL, and the other Jeanty. I think I may break something if Poles drafts a RB in the 1st round. I'm fine with Edge or OL in a best available scenario.
  19. Well, in fairness to Johnson, Nagy didn't actually call plays in Kansas City.
  20. Agreed on all accounts. It's clear the 12 team playoff will help teams like Ohio State (i.e. enough talent to beat anyone but stumbled a few times in the regular season). I'm sure ND's coaches will kick themselves for allowing Smith to get into man coverage with no help over the top on a key 3rd and long. Day said after the game they had a few options on that play and were hoping to get Smith in man coverage. I'm not a big "moral victory" type of guy. But, IMO, to come back from 28-7 to make a game of it late tells me the culture is VERY good at ND. Stating the obvious here, but they need to do anything possible to keep Freeman in South Bend.
  21. Within weeks of Gippers last activity.
  22. Correct. This afternoon. Around 2:20 PM to be exact. Why did you drop the Gipper name and come back as a saltier version of Gipper?
  23. Lol..I love how the kid says you only get this job once, try to win. I did a wiki search of the Giants GM. Turns out he played at Elkhart Memorial and DePauw.
  24. Hot take culture. It's wild. Look at these 2 guys from their rookie years: Player A: 63.8 completion %, 3,725 passing yards, 27 TD's, 14 INT's Player B: 52.8 completion %, 2,074 passing yards, 10 TD's, 12 INT's No GM in the League would currently take Player A over Player B and it's been that way for years.
