  1. That would be my fear as a USC coach. A lot of distractions in LA with celebrities, agents, etc. I think Carroll was too lose and it cost him.
  2. Not sure he's ready for the bigtime as a playcaller. Tennessee's offense hasn't been too special this year against their better competition, though he doesn't have the greatest of QB's either. Also not sure about his strength as a recruiter. One other name I wouldn't be surprised to see in the mix is Venerables. The tiders are changing in Norman. IMO, it would be there best interest to either hire a defensive minded coach or open the checkbook for a big name DC. The days of just needing to rely on the offensive to win high scoring shootouts are coming to an end.
  3. They are Dead On Arrival. And Sark could be gone by the time they're playing an SEC schedule. Is Oklahoma this delusional? You don't give up an NFL job with Kyler Murray as your QB to live in Norman, recruit, and play against the SEC. I wouldn't be surprised if Bob makes a permanent comeback after the Bowl game he's coaching or if he convinces Oklahoma to hire is brother. They should be targeting a defensive oriented guy with SEC experience like Arranda. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/oklahoma-coaching-candidates-kliff-kingsbury-of-nfls-cardinals-on-list-to-replace-lincoln-riley-per-report/
  4. So, the Sooners lose Riley to the friendlier PAC 12 and Texas would be one of the worst teams in the SEC if the move was next season. Both of these schools are getting a hard dose of reality for giving up bullying the Big 12 for a massive cash grab.
  5. I missed the 6A game. Did Popeye outplay Curry this time? His stats on D were impressive.
  6. Allen definitely has the size and arm strength of a P5 QB. That was the first time I’ve seen him play. I was really impressed by his ability to throw to such small windows. At times the Brebeuf DB’s couldn’t have had better coverage and Allen still found the window. It also doesn’t hurt when you have a 6’4 WR capable of catching every dime you through his way.
  7. Bowen is also good enough to play baseball at ND. Not sure though if he actually will.
  8. I looked at the athletes Merrillville and City had on offense and figured they would keep them in the game for a while. For MC, the speedster Hatch had about 250 yards rushing and receiving. Unfortunately, Hart didn’t play as he hurt his knee in Thursday’s practice. Hopefully it’s not too serious. For Merrillville, Logan had a few moments and Marshall looked electric when he did get in space. Ultimately, I lost track of the reality that having some playmakers on offense wasn’t enough. All it took was a few minutes of each game to remember how huge of a difference the line play is from the HCC to the Duneland as well as the defensive front 7’s. The Ville and City more resemble a Decatur Central than a threat to the HCC. Too many big and talented dudes all over the field for Westfield and Zionsville. I watch the HCC all year and and forget just how overwhelmingly big and talented they are compared to the Duneland and SAC until the matchups materialize in front of me. Oh well. In a little bit I’ll be passing by Noblesville’s new football facility that includes 2 100 yard turf practice fields and a brand new football stadium that sort of resembles Center Grove’s. Hopefully the Millers can join the party at some point.
  9. I saw some cutup highlites of Davis on Maxpreps. The kid can throw the ball around the field and run with it. Andrean better be ready from the opening kickoff. Hate to be cliche, but Eastside has never won a Regional until this year and is playing at home for a trip to State. I can imagine they are going to come out hungry for blood. Andrean has been notorious the past few years for coming out looking unprepared and sloppy in their playoff losses. Andrean will likely need their A game just to have a chance at winning this one. I would hope Andrean brings their A game after losing on the road to Pioneer and Eastbrook the past 2 years.
  10. Haha. Food sucks unless you're roaming Clark Street and wasted at night. The billboards and attitudes of their staff are funny though.
  11. Biggest ruse in the history of Wisconsin! 😀 No monetary value, non transferable, and I heard you even have to pay a processing fee for them!
  12. I've seen some Youtube videos of him throwing down dunks as well on the hardcourt for HH. Cutty is the man. He's a frequent guest on an ESPN Chicago talkshow that I listen to. Jayis genuinely funny and truly doesn't care what anyone thinks of him.
  13. That's cool. Happy for the Michigan City community. I watched the Regional via Michigan City's livestream and the guys doing play by play and color summed it up perfectly when commenting on how long time Michigan City football fans like themselves can't believe they're now mentioning their program as Championship winners in the playoffs.
  14. Yes. Definately. He'll be lucky to see Special Teams at Notre Dame. If the past is any indication of the future, he should probably just join former Andrean baseball stars Sean Manaea and Mike Brosseau and trade in football for a MLB career.
  15. Any I can't imagine Lowell ever purchasing field turf. That picture is just the way they want the field to look for playoff football.
  16. I'm sure it would have been close regardless of who one. Unless the opponent is Chatard, I'll give HH a fighter's chance against anyone in the Tournament. Chatard just has everyone's number in 3A.
  17. He's probably a 5 star because of who is offering him scholarships. LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, etc. generally don't care about the 5th best player at Andrean...
  18. Noblesville blew the game open and was up by 30+ in the second half. Noblesville has a massive O-Line and runs power formations (7 downed OL) and Mt. Vernon's front 7 couldn't handle it. Noblesville probably only attempted 2-3 pass the entire game, so I'm sure Memorial will present an entirely different offensive game plan. Offensive, Mt. Vernon spread the field and had a really good passing attack to go along with their running game. Noblesville couldn't stop it when Mt. Vernon was on. Self inflicted mistakes by Mt. Vernon really held their offense back in that game. Looking at last weeks box score, Mt. Vernon ran for 234 yards (6.2 avg) against a really good Roncalli defense. That's extremely impressive. So, you know they can run the ball and their QB can throw it. He's 6'2 with good ball placement. Averaging 198 passing yards/game.
  19. His production against LaVille on both side of the ball looked dominating to me, but what do I know? You sound bitter. Are you a disgruntled LaVille fan? That's a nice definitieve statement you ended with. Any logicial reasoning you care to share for your opinion? I know you're not on the ND staff since he's going to Notre Dame. What have you seen about him that you think the coaches at Notre Dame, Clemson, Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, etc. are all missing?
  20. I think Merillville is actually much better than last year, which I wasn't expecting considering they lost JoJo to Notre Dame. That said, I just think the timing is bad for them. It's going to be very hard for Westfield to replace Maximus Webster, Micah Hauser, Popeye Williams (ironically from Merrillville), etc., from their Senior class. That group is ridiculously battle tested from getting years of varsity reps in the HCC and I think their end game is giving Center Grove one heckuva battle in Lucas Oil. I can see the Pirates putting up a fight, but I just can't envision them winning. I've been so impressed by Westfield 2 weeks in a row now. They took every knockout punch HSE could deliver and still came through in the clutch at the end of the 4th quarter. They completely knocked Carroll out of the game just when it looked like the Charrgers were creaping back in with a TD and 2 pt. conversion. I'm not worried about Merrillville playing the weaker schdule because I believe this game has been in their minds all off season and during this season. They knew what every off season workout and conditioning session was for. Everything they've done has been for this game. I think they'll be ready and give the Rocks a match. Regarding the two conferences as a whole, there's just no comparison. The bottom feeders of the DAC would be lucky to win a single game in the HCC. I think it says alot about the HCC that winless Noblesville was able to beat Mt. Vernon with complete ease. It was a 30 point game at one point in the 2nd half. And Noblesville really didn't do anything in that game that they haven't done all year. They just lined up in power formations and ran the ball down the throats of the Marauders. Realistically, only Merrillville, Valpo, and City could compete in the HCC. Crown Point can get there as long as Buzea's health remains good. LC should be there. Time will tell if Good is the guy to turn it around. Crown Point and LC really need to keep their talent out of Andrean's halls.
  21. Interesting story line at least to me is Vince Lidy making the return to Evansville as a 1st time HC. I'm sure there will be some sentimental emotion for him. He can follow in his fathers footsteps and win a Semi-State in Evansville. He's the only QB I've ever seen who was tough enough to also be a dominate LB on the defensive side of the ball.
  22. I'm always impressed when a HS kicker boots a game winner. I expect it at the college and NFL level, but for some reason I just assume it's much harder at the HS level.
  23. No. None. For some reason I believe the old baseball stadium looked similiar to League Stadium in Huntingburg, but I could be completely wrong. Maybe the original Loeb Stadium in Lafayette would be a better comparison. IDK. I've never been able to find old pictures on the net. I do remember the visitor side for football at the old Ames baseball stadium was bleachers going across Right and Center field.
  24. Andrean completely fell apart in the 2nd half of the Tri West game. Mainly because the speed of Cook on the carpet breaking a kick return and long TD run. Completely has no bearing on how HH would have faired against Andrean. Reminds me of when many on the GID predicted HH to beat Andrean when the Patriots finally got over the Chatard hump in 2004.
  25. Random observation after watching some of the Scecina/ Central Catholic game: Scenina has the blandest uniform / helmet combo I've ever seen. Reminds me of a generic combo from a 1995 Eastbay magazine.
