  1. All that matters is who won, which was Michigan City. YOU specifically said Michigan City couldn't win a Sectional with Valpo in it. Now you're trying to back track to deflect from another completely awful take. I'm sure you'll do it again if City finishes higher than 4th in the DAC. Please go back to Facebook.
  2. This is depressing. Based on enrollment and socio-economic/demographic factors I think a 6A Title is a complete and utter pipe dream for my alma mater. But, competing in the DAC, winning a Sectional Title here and there along with possibly a Regional are not unattainable aspirations. I would argue the current raw talent is far greater than what we had in the mid '90's when I was there. The gradual switch in demographics with Lake County move ins has made Portage bigger and faster. Yet, they continuously get worse in football. Portage has never recovered from the day Buzea was forced out for exposing the disfunction within the Portage Administration.
  3. Wow, that's an awful take. The guy has only accomplished something no coach in the entire history of Michigan City athletics has ever accomplished in football at City, Rogers, or Elston by winning more than 1 Regional. And he's won a Regional 3 times since 2017. Then, for extra measure, Mason has 6 Sectional, 3 Regional, 2 Semi-State, and 1 State Tile on his resume as HC at Andrean. I fear Cody Parkhurst has finally found The Gridiron Digest.
  4. I did not know that about Kansas. Based on Academic prestige, athletic success and location, I would think the Big Ten has their eyes set on North Carolina and Virginia. I'm cool with just about anyone from the PAC 12 other than UC Berkeley. Ground Zero of liberal elitism, no thanks. My personal preference from the Pac 12 would be:
  5. Haha...that would be great. They've always relished the idea of being unique with their standalone NBC deal and independent football schedule. Force them into the Big Ten, SEC, or a bandaged ACC for football and now they're just like everyone else.
  6. I could end up being wrong, but I think Kansas has no value. Their academics aren't Pac 12/ACC caliber, the only valuable TV market they provide is Kansas City, and they are basically just a men's basketball school. I don't see a place at mega conference table for them.
  7. The Big Ten, Pac 12, and ACC formed an alliance last summer that was just nuked up by the Big Ten. At this point you can't trust anything you think you know about college athletics.
  8. This all seems plausible, but I think plausibility is out the window at this point. The Big Ten is likely going to bring in somebody out of Oregon, Washington, Arizona State and Arizona. I'm sure they're still working on the white whales of North Carolina and Virginia. At some point Florida State, Miami, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and yes even Notre Dame will be forced into picking a side. Ultimately, I understand why it's assumed the ACC and left overs of the Big 12/Pac 12 will be the last 2 super conferences next to the Big Ten and SEC. But, is two watered down leagues a reality? The Big Ten and SEC will still hold all of the invitations and decide who gets into the party, which makes those leagues irrelevant. That's why I strongly feel we're heading towards two super conferences that just break away from everyone else.
  9. Yeah. Ratings and who is on BTN don’t matter. All that matters is BTN being added to cable packages.
  10. Agreed. Highly doubt just USC and UCLA are coming. At this point it seems those running the show are making strategic moves that seem odd on the surface as they strategize a new league. Oklahoma and Texas willingly making their lives harder? USC and UCLA of all teams to the Big Ten? The split is inevitable and at that point it’s just a matter of who gets invited to the super conferences of B1G and SEC. At that point I would expect them to disband into different cohorts that could mix teams from different historical conferences.
  11. The old adage applies: Is the juice worth the squeeze?
  12. The AD, Super, and Principal recommended the hire? Unreal. Who is running sports for the paper in Michigan City. Seems like a good story to pursue on why the four voted no.
  13. First they ran Tom Wells out of town and now this? WTF is happening in LaPorte? Wells is going to stick it to Laporte for as long as he’s coaching City. New Prairie has to be licking their chops for week 1. The amount of people within the coaching and ex Slicer community I’ve seen criticize LaPorte for not hiring James is damning.
  14. LaPorte’s school board voted 4-3 against the hiring of Bon James. That’ll create some more angst in LaPorte.
  15. I may be guilty of drinking the new GM Kook Aid but I like what was done in the draft. Appeared to have obtain instant help for Fields later in the draft while getting 2 quality DB's and a solid WR early on. I hope this means Eddie Jackson is out. I really like that Velus Jone is 25. He should be able to contribut immediately and will be a nice YAC option for Fields in the short passing options. Potentially Ebner as well. I'm also curious to know if not taking OL early is a statement of Poles opinion of the way Nagy / Pace treated the OL. Perhaps, he feels the talent returning isn't that bad and was more a reflection of Nagy's scheme that made the OL look awful.
  16. I read somewhere that 5 were drafted. Who is the 5th that I'm missing: George Karlaftis: 1st Round: Kansas City via Purdue and West Lafayette David Bell: 3rd Round: Cleveland via Purdue and Warren Central Russ Yeast: 7th Round: Los Angeles Rams via Kansas State, Louisville, and Center Grove Zander Horvath: 7th Round: Los Angeles Chargers via Purdue and Mishawaka Marian ?
  17. Interesting comment from Fole's agent. Feel that had to be a shot at Pace & Nagy.
  18. That's debatable. I'm sure there's the potential that schools will pass on him due to the proven false allegations regarding his exit from Morton; however, I would wager he has been approached for openings. I would wager these openings have been better than LaPorte based on the following: LaPorte is not a talent hotbed and they are on the verge of now having more difficult of a Sectional Is the LaPorte school board a problem for coaches? They recently gave into parent complaints and ran off a good basketball coach in Tom Wells.
  19. That '94 Portage team came out of nowhere. Bubba had just left for Valpo U and some offensive star power at QB and RB graduated after the '93 Sectional Title. I believe Wellman wasn't even named QB1 until a few weeks before the Jamboree. And Portage looked awful in the Jamboree. Lake Central came into the '94 opener with a lofty ranking and expectations of getting back to the RCA Dome. I don't think anyone in Portage expected that game to end the way it did. I think beating solid Rick Wimmer coached Merrillville 28-0 in Week 3 was when the belief set in that something special was really happening.
  20. Hate to be pessimistic, but I have to think it's going to be very difficult for LaPorte to attract a high level hire. Tough situation with presumably Chesterton, Michigan City, and Valpo in their Sectional. My guess is their only attracting assistants looking for their 1st gig or an experienced HC in it for the love of coaching. I can't fathom anyone as successful as Roy Richards being interested in that job. Maybe I'm completely off base. The Slicers have fallen well behind City and can no longer hide from Valpo in 5A. Chesterton has passed them as well.
  21. You've stated this a few times now Temp regarding Avon and FC. Why do you think they would rather be in the MIC over the HCC? All sports of course and not just football and basketball.
