  1. I just looked at the boxscore. Here was his production against LaVille: Offense: 14 carries for 99 yards (7.1 Avg) and 3 TD's 1 Reception for 7 Yards Defense: 4 Total Tackles 1 TFL 1 INT that he returned 30 Yards You must be hard to impress. He's only a Junior. Were you expecting to see someone who is already a starting LB at ND?
  2. I remember going to game there as a kid when Portage played Michigan City Rogers. I can't remember what it actually looked like though. I believe it was tore down in the mid '90's when they constructed the current Ames Field for the consolidation of Elston and Rogers.
  3. You are correct. Andrean came into that game thinking they already won the State Title. The '59'ers jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and it looked they were going to cruise. Tri-West took the early punches and fought back. The game went into the half tied at 21. It was all Tri-West in the 2nd half. Wesley Cook returned the 2nd half kickoff 89 yards for a TD and followed that up with TD runs of 2 and 59 yards to extend the Tri West lead to 42-21. Final was 49-27.
  4. Nah. He didn’t predict any W’s. Just said he thinks City and Ville have the athletes to make it interesting this year and is looking forward to the possibility of both winning. Seems fair. Cody would have called for a running clock in at least one of the games and the other to be 2 TD Region win. Parkhurst’s hyperbole doesn’t really bother me. What gets me is his inability to provide factual information regarding historical results. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s just a parody account attempting to troll.
  5. I like the pictures from last week. Talk about a tale of two different eras as the the turfless Inferno looked like a mud pit in the New Prairie picture. I've seen both of these teams play a little bit this year and can't imagine this game not ending in dramatic fashion in the 4th quarter. I would probably give NP a 3 point edge just becasue of Hunter Whitenack. The 6'7 300 pount future OL at Illinois is a monster. Good luck to whomever gets to line up across from him on Northridge.
  6. Absolutely! But, I'm a firm believer that it's more difficult to correct the future if you don't acknowledge mistakes in the past.
  7. Michigan City would have been sent home last week had they played anyone better than Valpo. Some really, really, bad TO's kept them from handidly beating the Vikings. They gave Valpo every chance possible to stay in the game and eventually tie it. Could have likely won it in regulation with a FG had they not thrown an INT with under a minute to go.
  8. This is the game I'm most looking forward to watching next week. Phil Mason is further cementing his legacy as he leads the City Wolves into the Semi-State round for the 3rd time in the past 5 years. This time beautiful Ames Field gets it's turn to host a Semi-State as the Wolves previously traveled to Kokomo and New Palestine. Looks like game time temp will be around 31 degrees with winds coming off the Lake at 5-10 mph. That should't be bad enough weather to create too much discomfort for Zionsville. Looking at the game from City's perspective, the Wolves will need to clean up the mistakes on offense if they want any chance of pulling off the upset. Some sloppy play in th 2nd half and a poorly timed INT with under a minute to go in the 4th really helped Valpo keep it close and force OT. Sophomore QB Tyler Bush has a thrown a few INT's the past two weeks. Those INT's are at least easier to overcome against Mishwawka / Valpo than a Zionsville team that will likely flip turnovers into points. To the Wolves beneift they do have a full arsenal of playmakers to throw at the Eagles defense. 6'1 Sr WR Giovani Laurent has great hands and can stretch the secondary. 5'8 Sr. O'Marion Hatch is the speedster that MC will try to get the ball to in the open field. He can move is a threat to take it to the EZ on any play. City has a good thunder and lightning combo in the running game with 5'9 210 Sr. Racion Anderson and 6'0 180 Soph Jaden Hart. Hart is the most talented of the group and already has reported offers from Iowa State, Minnesota, Purdue, and Syracuse. The defensive line faired well against a much bigger Valpo O-Line last week; however, Zionsville will present their biggest test of the season when Joey Tanona and Joe Cannedy take the field. Unfortunately, I can envision a scenario in which City holds Zionsville to under 30 points. I was caught off guard when saw Harrell picking this as a 1 point City win. Logically, I just can't see a HCC battle tested Zionsville team losing to Michigan City. I'm hoping City's offense can keep them in the game and pull out a 31-28 type of game, but my head is thinking Zionsville will take this one by about 42-28. Either way, I'm excited to see Phil Mason's offense and Ames Field showcased in the Semi-State round.
  9. Mark Smith, known on here as Old Uncle Mark, passed away yesterday after a 4 year battle with prostate cancer. Those of us from The Region are well aware of the work Mark put in to showcase Indiana HS sports in Northwest Indiana. His Thursday night and Friday post game shows on Channel 56 with Joe Arredondo were must watch TV for me as a youth. RIP Mark.
  10. Is Aurelio's consider good up there? I know they started in Homewood in 1959 and are big across the South Burbs and into the Region. They opened up a place in Fishers a few years ago that seems to be thriving. I don't remember eating Aurelios. I was always a Gelsosomo's guy.
  11. Is it true Hobart had the ball 1st and Goal at the 1 on TWO different occasions and Lowell kept them from putting a point up? I believe I saw that written somewhere.
  12. I've been following your interviews on Facebook. Your best work yet DT. Congrats. Top Notch! Bobref working the field in Avon. Was that during the Shelbourne era? If so, two Region legends on the field at the same time in Hendricks County.
  13. I'm going to give the kid of the benefit of the doubt that he's a True Freshman and was playing against a team whose D-Line was far superior to the IU OL. But, it just seemed like McCulley was completely lost if he wasn't running the ball. Man, talk about baptism by fire.
  14. Looks fairly one sided in favor of Northridge. According to Sagarin, Northridge has played the much tougher schedule. Not much of a surprise to me that Leo lost this one.
  15. I don't think it would be a Lowell Regional without that type of weather. I haven't followed Lowell this year, but that beating they gave the Brickies caught my attention. I've read they've sustained some injuries this year and are finally playing with a healthy team. The Inferno is a very tough place to win at. I'll take the Red Devils 16-13 in the rematch.
  16. Good points. My thoughts: I am surprised in Year 5 that he still is shuffling QB's. Looking at this year, I think he really wanted Plummer to be the guy with his athleticism and finally gave in to the realization that AOC can throw the ball around despite having the mobility of a stone statute. I think Brady Allen is a litmus test type of recruit. At some point Brohm needs to bring a good QB in and develop him into the program QB. Allen is 6'5. I beieve he has some athletic ability. A lot of well established programs wanted him. It's time for Brohm to put his mark on the QB position. I don't see any possible way he makes the jump to the NFL as a HC. Not succesfull enough at the college level and doesn't have the knowledge of an innovative offense (Cliff Kingsbury) that an NFL team wants to tap into. So, if his transition is as a QB Coach or maybe even an OC, I have really have no idea how those positions payout vs. a Big Ten HC job. This. I'm hopeful he truly has turned the corner and the program is up and running. And I'm hoping he has no interest in leaving West Lafayette. As I said before, he and his family supposedly love West Lafayette. Brohm has been on record before saying he likes the challenge of trying to win big at Purdue and it would be more special than at a powerhouse program that's accustomed to winning big.
  17. I'm going for a PAT as well with those odds. What was the final yardage and TOP for the game? Curious regarding the comment "Leo lost the game as much as Northridge won the game."
  18. Haha. Even while enjoying that offensive explosion and big W, the classic Boiler in me was still getting salty about that Minnesota game. This team is it's frustrated moments, but they are fun to watch when they're on. I'm really looking forward to seeing how high Bell goes in the NFL Draft. Is a potential 1st rounder? I can't tell if I'm being a homer or it's a legit possibility. I think some of you guys might be more bullish on Brohm that I am. I don't see how he can do better than Purdue. It's going to be tough sledding for an AD at a school like USC, LSU, etc., to sell their rabid doners on a coach with an average at best record at Purdue. I can't see him leaving Purdue just to go to a 2nd Tier School in another Conference. I've always thought the threat to Purdue would be if left to take a QB Coaching job in the NFL. That seems like it would be an ideal NFL job for him. He does have 2 kids who are in either the Harrison or West Lafayette School District. All stories indicate his family really loves it in West Lafayette. Maybe he would hold off on the NFL until his kids are at least out of school.
  19. Can't help but feel bad for Chesterton. The Trojans have never won a Sectional Title in football and it seemed like the stars aligned for this year to be the year. I know you can never look past the opponent staring you in the face, but I just don't see how Penn can beat Merrillville. I would start working in a little bit of prep for Westfield / Carroll this week if I were Merrillville.
  20. Sophomore RB Jaden Hart, Sophomore QB Tyler Bush, Senior WR Giovani Laurent, and Senior RB Raci'on Anderson are impressive to watch for the Wolves. Hart already has some P5 Conference Offers. They got off to a very slow start against Mishawaka with 2 INTS and a kick return for a TD that helps the Cavemen jump out to an 18-6 lead. Then the MC offense just exploded. Is Mason the offensive play caller? Man, if so, he's an impressive play caller. Guy has 9 Sectional TItles, 5 Regional (maybe 6), 2 Semi-State, and 1 State Title since 2008. At some point (if he hasn't already) I'm assuming he'll at least flirt with an HCC or MIC job.
  21. #62 from Miss shouldn’t play another down of football this year. I would like to see the IHSAA thoroughly investigate this weekend with the officials to see if Wayne fan/players comments regarding the use of racial slurs is accurate. Multiple supporters of Wayne are claiming they asked the officials to put a stop to it. If the officials validate the claims, no damn reason Miss should be allowed to play next week. No Place for that garbage in the game!
  22. Unreal playmaking and “onions” by both sides in the 4th quarter. HSE sets the table by converting multiple 4th down attempts on their final drive to finally get in the end zone with less than a minute left to make it a 21-20 ballgame. Credit to Coach Kelly for dialing up a 2 pt conversion instead of settling for OT. It looked like HSE went back to the same pass play that picked up yardage on the previous 4th down attempt. Westfield snuffed it out, HSE’s QB scrambled and found an open man in the EZ to make it 22-21 HSE with about 40 seconds left. I can’t say I’m surprised that Maximus Webster and Micah Hauser drove Westfield downfield and into a manageable FG attempt. Kudos to Westfield kicker Caleb King for splitting the uprights on the 25 yard game winner. it feels like Webster and Hauser have been at Westfield for 5 years. Those 2 are going to leave major voids to fill in the Westfield offense next year.
  23. Leo couldn’t even get out of Sectionals. Leo may have been the favorite on paper, but playoff W’s in places like Northridge, Lowell, etc. don’t come easy.
  24. Which is probably fair. I just had to laugh at the idiots who thought someone from Pioneer, with an ND offer, couldn't play in the MIC. I just took a look at the 247 Top 10 from Indiana in that class: Karlaftis: Beast. Definitive NFL Draft Pick Bell: Same as above James: Major Bust. Likely never fully recovered from leg injury at Avon Beau Robbins: No idea how he's faired at IU without looking it up Cameron Williams: Same as Robbins Tippman: No idea how he's faired at Wisconsin Kiser
