  1. Agreed. I was once a rabid Domer follower before embracing Purdue. The younger me was crushed when Boston College won that game in '93. I was actually at Ron Pawlus' first game against Northwestern in Soldier Field. I believe that was '94. Nonetheless, if I were still an ND fan, I would be thrilled to see the success they've had lately. Not everyone can be Alabama, Ohio State, or Clemson.
  2. Especially the ones who switch their jackets in the winter and wax poetic about Bobby, 5 Banners, and the tie Gordon was flipped from Illinois.
  3. Can't say I'm surprised that all of Notre Dame Subway Alums on my Facebook feed are already calling for Kelly to be fired. Granted, I would probably enjoy hanging out with the Taliban more than Bryan Kelly, but do true ND fans really want him out? Have they forgot about clamoring for a National Title contender during the Boob Davie, Willingham, Fat Charlie, etc. eras? They finally have a legit playoff contending team every year and that's not even good enough?
  4. It'll be interesting to see how their laissez fair approach to playing defense works in the SEC grind. It cost them in the Rose Bowl when they spoiled a solid offensive performance by letting Georgia get back in the game and eventually take over. I don't know how anyone could bet on Oklahoma and give points. No lead is safe for the Sooners regardless of who they're playing.
  5. Not sure why, but Noblesville played their backup QB the entire game against Fishers. Hard to tell if it even matters considering how much they run the ball. It would be nice to see Sharpe add at least 5-10 passing plays per game. There were 2 key drives in the 2nd half, i.e. when Noblesville had the ball and a chance to win in the final minutes, when the Millers relied on the run in a passing down. Fishers' coach is apprently not a big fan of kicking PAT's. I've checked all of their box scores and I believe they've only attempted 1 PAT. They succesfully completed 2 pt conversions after both of their TD's against Noblesville. I agree and think Brownsburg wins by at least 20. I'm going with Fishers at home by 6 in front of an overflow crowd. Noblesville at Westfield could get ugly. I have a feeling Brownsburg and Westfield are the two teams that will blow the game open against Noblesville. The secondary is the weakest link of the Noblesville D. Webster should have a field day throwing the ball to go along with running alongside Hauser. LIke you said, only shot is to control the ground game and keep Westfield's D on the field. No chance for the upset in Franklin Township? Feels like a trap game for Zionsville. I don't know much about FC this year other than West is their coach and they don't appear to be a complete pushover.
  6. The DAC is stuck in purgatory. Too small now to compete in football with the HCC and MIC. If they can make a run in 5A they fall victim to whichever team is annihilating Central Indiana (Cathedral/New Pal)
  7. Historically, the DAC has faired very well against the current day formation of the SAC. A lot of Semi State battles going back to the ‘80’s. Both Snider and Dwenger have been on the losing ends of the most recent ones. Zionsville is threat #1. Not the Fort Wayne schools. The best to come out of the Duneland are typically on par with whomever they face out of Fort Wayne.
  8. Yeah, I get the hyperbole from a few members of their fan base. Reality is they would fair very well in 5A. Especially, if Cathedral was absent.
  9. Depends on who gets sent North (i.e. Cathedral). A little silly to discredit them for losing to 2 teams that a majority of 5A and lower Central Indiana teams would lose to.
  10. My bad. I didn’t check the box score. Assumed he had another low carry game based on PH’s reply. You know what they say about assuming… Still though. I’m surprised he picked one dumpster fire after leaving another one in Troy. Sooner or later Helton is getting canned.
  11. Mertz was atrocious. And that’s putting it nicely. Feel like Wisconsin wins by at least 10 if he was on. These Week 1 matchups like Wisconsin/Penn State are tough. I would imagine both teams would have played exceptionally better had they played a mid major this week and then met in Madison next weekend. The QB’s in the Clemson/Georgia game looked pretty bad as well. As always Bama makes playing a P5 in week 1 look easy.
  12. What were his P5 options when leaving SC? He willingly joined the Scott Frost dumpster fire. Perhaps he should have went elsewhere if he wanted significant PT under a stable coach.
  13. The public Sycamore HS is in suburban Cincinnati.
  14. I was up your way over the weekend with a group of guys from Central Indiana. We rented a house in DeMotte and played 3 rounds at Sandy Pines. That is a gem of a golf course! A lot of nice houses in that area. Are people escaping the Lake County property taxes and commuting up to Crown Point/Merrillville or even Valpo?
  15. The red flags were there years prior and Warren Central still played them. I don't get it. As was stated in one of the articles, and was mentioned when Warren played them, they have guys playing for them that ran out of HS eligibility.
  16. Lake Central: Agree with the Andrean guy. Jury is still out. Munster and Morton are soft. I do think Good has the bones to turn Lake Central around. Noblesville: Very young team too. They play a lot of Sophomores and Juniors. The O-Line destroyed Mt. Vernon and THS. Looking forward to seeing how they fair against Fishers. The Millers play 7 OL in their Power Offense at the following sizes: 5'10 225 Sr, 5'11 315 Jr, 6'3 235 Sr, 6'3 325 Sr, 6'4 315 Jr, 6'6 285 Jr, 6'7 240 So. Lawrence Central: I have a feeling this is more of a case of Lafayette Jeff being way down. We shall see on Friday against LN. North Central: I am surprised they have been trending downwards. I would imagine coaching in blue blooded Washington Township can't be easy. My perception, which is often wrong, would be that Towship sends a lot of talent to Brebeuf, Chatard, and Cathedral. Warsaw: 2 years in a row that City has taken them to the woodshed. Coffman was routed by Division 2 Cincinnati Turpin last weekend. Maybe the Rocks just aren't that good this year. Knox: Radtke doesn't seem like the type who can adjust to mediocrity. I wouldn't be surprised if he went shopping for a new gig even though he's supposedly happy to be coaching back in rural Indiana. Hammond Morton: The 'Govs caught lightning in the bottle with Roydon Richards. They made their own bed when they forced him to resign even after the Department of Child Services cleared him of any wrong doing. He's rebounded nicely as Mason's DC in City. Meanwhile, Morton is cycling through coaches who can't replicate Roydon's success. Addition: Penn: Yikes. Just when you think the Kingsmen have hit rock bottom they go out and lose to LaPorte. The Slicers will be lucky to go .500 in an average Duneland Conference. This is the type of game that Penn used to win just by showing up. I wonder if Cathedral is now regretting putting Morton and Penn on their schedule. Both games should have Cathedral going to the bench by mid 2nd Quarter.
  17. I don't get Brownsburg. I watched the entire game and saw what I would consider a typical Brownsburg team in a game like this. They had the size and speed to match Ben Davis all over the field. IMO, it was clear Brownsburg didn't fear Ben Davis and was the aggressor. At some point the Bulldogs have to break through in the playoffs. How about the Millers? I watched all of that one as well. I won't put the cart in front of the horse as the road through the HCC will be a lot tougher than Mt. Vernon; however, it was nice to see the Millers dominate a solid Mt. Vernon team. Noblesville's secondary was swiss cheese early on as Mt. Vernon took 15-0 and 22-7 leads in the 1st Quarter. It was all Noblesville after that as the D tightened up and the enormous Miller O-Line was pancaking Marauders left and right. It was 50-22 late in the 3rd quarter when Noblesville started playing 2nd stringers in the secondary and Mt. Vernon put together 2 more nice drives. Noblesville racked up 588 rushing yards while tiny 5'5 Sophomore Logan Shoffner had 354 yards on the ground by bouncing behind the Noblesville O-Line and hitting the open field. My humble Power Rankings after Week 1: Brownsburg Westfield Hamilton Southeastern Avon Noblesville Fishers Zionsville Franklin Central
  18. I would expect Valpo and Michigan City to switch spots. Though Michigan City is probably more in the 7-10 range. Valpo has lost A LOT. Cathedral will obviously dominate the headlines in this group, but the interested storylines to me are: How does Columbus East fair in year 1 post Gaddis? Does New Pal return as a threat to Cathedral? Can Zionsville's D-1 laden O-Line stay healthy? Does Snider emerge as a threat to Cathedral?
  19. I would imagine that hatred runs deep into Business and Politics. Oklahoma will be interesting if OSU is left with no other options than to join up with Houston, Memphis, CIncinnati, etc. I could foresee a lot of new anomosity between those two schools. The OSU President already released a statement that slams OU.
  20. Yes. A lot of smoke around him. He has an awful reputation among college coaches as being dirty.
  21. Agreed regarding revenue share. I do think B1G schools take the academic accreditation seriously. The University of Chicago is still a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the Big Ten, ACC, and Pac 12 all stood firm.
  22. No and No. Two of the dirtiest coaches in College Basketball? Hard pass even if the new NIL rules make it easier for $elf.
  23. Oklahoma State is really the only leftover the B1G should consider. I think they have a great wrestling program as well. There's nothing to gain by adding Iowa State and the Kansas schools. At that point you're just adding for the purpose of adding. I'm targeting Notre Dame (obvious), Central Florida (largest Public school in Florida/access to Florida market), Georgia Tech (great academics/access to Atlanta market), A&M, and Missouri before trying to add Iowa State and the Kansas schools. I would extend feelers to the Virginia and Carolinas ACC schools before talking to Iowa State and the Kansas schools. The B1G payout per school dwarfs the ACC payout. One thing is for certain, the B1G could really use Delany right now to navigate the waters. Hopefully, Kevin Warren is consulting with him.
  24. That was a funny tweet from Brady. The Bucs defense is going to be phenomenal.
