  1. Which is probably fair. I just had to laugh at the idiots who thought someone from Pioneer, with an ND offer, couldn't play in the MIC. I just took a look at the 247 Top 10 from Indiana in that class: Karlaftis: Beast. Definitive NFL Draft Pick Bell: Same as above James: Major Bust. Likely never fully recovered from leg injury at Avon Beau Robbins: No idea how he's faired at IU without looking it up Cameron Williams: Same as Robbins Tippman: No idea how he's faired at Wisconsin Kiser
  2. Good for him! I foolishly assumed he was a Purdue lock and was disappointed when he committed to Notre Dame. I also remember folks around Indy complaining a kid from Pioneer won Mr. Football. Nice to see he's having success at ND.
  3. I should probably walk them back. Poor choice of words. I used to follow National and Purdue recruiting religiously. Can't recall who the player was, but I remember GBI getting a quote from Dullaghan complaining that Purdue wasn't offering the guy.
  4. That was when I left the game. Fealt bad for Mike White. Guy finally gets his shot as an NFL starter, looks good, and then damages his wrist on a Colts helmet. On the plus side, he probably secured another 10 years in the NFL as a backup. Jonathan Taylor is fun to watch live. Same for Michael Pittman. It's nice to see an offense actually function after watching Bears games every week.
  5. The degree pays the bills and keeps the wife happy. Counts for something after years and years of misery followed by heartache in sports.
  6. I know. Just saying DC can bring the flash, but Cathedral will bring the pain. I would have already picked Cathedral by 25+, but without Stevens it's going to get even uglier for DC.
  7. Meh, Nike jerseys, cool helmets, a hype video, and running out of an inflatable tunnel won't be enough to keep DC from being down by at least 14 at halftime and at least 25 in the 2nd half.
  8. I looked up Hanover’s boundaries with LC, Crown Point, and Lowell. I didn’t realize a portion of St. John is in Hanover’s district. Is the southern suburban push in Lake County projected to bump Hanover up to a 4A/5A school at some point?
  9. Ha..sorry! Just thought about Auburn. Are they an option because he wants to also play baseball in college?
  10. For some reason this post reminded me of the times Dullaghan used to complain that Purdue/IU weren't offering his unheralded Ben Davis recruits even though he did nothing to help steer his heralded recruits to those schools. Speaking of Steele, he's definately caught my attention. I figured he would be a LB in college. I woudl wager he doesn't spend 4 years in Muncie and will end up in the transfer portal at some point.
  11. Auburn? That seems random. Dare I say he's a lock for Notre Dame?
  12. Admittedly I don't follow Notre Dame too deeply. How has the kid from Pioneer faired? I believe I've seen him getting PT in the limited amount of games I watched.
  13. I'm sure there are a variety of factors. Some guys can be absolute beasts in HS when they can get by on talent alone, but don't have the mental capacity to read the game at the college level. Some guys are just late bloomers and forever whatever reason took major leaps from HS to College. Craig Terrill wasn't highly recruited out of Lebanon in 1999, but he turned into a force at Purdue and spent about 6 seasons in the NFL playing on the D Line for Seattle. I'm sure there are 4/5 star guys choosing to stay buried on the depth chart at an Alabama or Ohio State that could have developed into NFL talent had they opted to go somewhere they could get meaningful reps.
  14. My guess would be it's a combination of the following: Who do you have offers from? Have you attended National / Regional camps where the recruiting guru's have seen you? What schools have you visited and has a rivals/247 writer covering that school wrote about you? It's alot easier to say the kid with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oregon (i.e. National Recruit) is a 5 star and the kid with Indiana, Purdue, Kentucky, and Missouri offers is only a 3 star. Doesn't necessarily mean the 5 star will be better in college. A good local example is James Aldridge from Merrillville. He shot up to 5 star status when USC, LSU, Notre Dame, etc. wanted him. I don't even think he had 100 total rushing yards in his career at Notre Dame. Hypothetically, my guess would be that if the kid in question from Gibson Southern officially visited Purdue AND the visit was covered by Gold & Black Illustrated he would be added to the database as a 2 or 3 star recruit.
  15. Pardon? Trying to determine how having the opinion that Cathedral's 2021 Class could have easily went out as #1 in Cahedral's history had they opted into 6A has somehow transitioned into crying. Interesting.
  16. Asking the IHSAA to play up a class is the pre-requisite. Ha! Until I saw how much my wife spent.
  17. I don't know, that field hurt Cathedral just as much as Center Grove. For example, O'Neil looked sharp in the 1st half and could barely plant to throw the ball in the 2nd half. Cathedral's #2 (best DB?) slipped in the mud coming out of a break in a route when the Center Grove WR got behind him for the long TD reception. Cathedral has some sack. They'll schedule anyone. I'll admit I respect the heck out of their coaching and talent. I wouldn't expect them to win, but I could see them pulling off the upset in The Rematch.
  18. Which makes it a shame the Senior Class can't go out as 6A State Champs. Winning at the highest level could have really put a stamp on this highly talented and battle tested Senior Class. It's crazy, at least to me, they've played the following teams in the regular season (20-22): Cincinnati Moeller Cincinnati Elder ( X 2) Cincinnati St. Xavier ( X 2) Bishop Chatard ( X 3) Louisville Trinity Brefeuf Jesuit ( X 3) Center Grove ( X 3) Westfield ( X 2) Carmel Brownsburg Penn ( X 2) Cincinnati LaSalle ( X 2) Columbus North Yet, they have no idea what it's like to play in a 6A Playoff Game.
  19. Might need another fix. Tracy played QB last week. Is Stevens even playing against Cathedral?
  20. I get your joke regarding field conditions, but in reality it’s Zero chance. None. A Cathedral team this good will get zero competition in 5A. It’s a cakewalk to the trophy presentation. And I hate saying it because I despise definitive statements.
  21. Agreed on your last comment. I honestly think in a rematch Ohio State would beat Oregon now that Kerry Coombs has lost defensive play calling duties. He was awful in that Oregon game. Still, Oregon won, and should remain ahead of Ohio State in the rankings. I'm honestly surprised you have Wake Forest at 9. I haven't seen them play. Figured they're benefitting from a weak ACC. Are they really Top 10 material? I would go: 1. Georgia 2. Michigan State 3. Cincinnati . 4. Alabama (I would still pick them to beat anyone on a neutral field, but feel they should be punished in the rankings for losing to A&M and barely escaping Florida) 5. Oklahoma (lucky to beat Texas and struggled against Kansas. Have a feeling they have at least 1 or 2 losses coming) 6. Oregon 7. Ohio State 8. Notre Dame 9. Michigan 10. Oklahoma State
  22. This game reminds me of 1999 and a game I attended as a Junior at Purdue. Michigan State, under Nick Saban, was coming off a huge win over Michigan and rolled into West Lafayette with an undefeated record. Brees lit Michigan State up with 509 passing yards and 5 TD's while Purdue beat the Spartans 52-28. Let's hope Brohm can rekindle the Tiller / Cheney offensive magic and the Boilers can pull off another upset at home. Going to be tough keeping Walker out of the endzone.
  23. How did Craig T Nelson get the Cal Polytechnical and Minnesota State jobs? He should be blackballed for his clock management blunders at the end of the 1983 Ampipe / Walnut Heights game. Cost the Bulldogs a perfect season. The star players spiraled out of control after that devistating loss.
  24. Agreed. Though it would be nice to see South Carolina or Clemson put them on the schedule. Speaking of App State, I had a brief stop in Boone, NC, a few years ago on my way to a mountain bike ride on the Virgina / North Carolina / Tennessee border up in the mountains. Very nice college town completely immerged in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The bar I stopped at had a very nice memorabilia wall dedicated to their win at the Big House.
