  1. Ha! Purdue will flip a MAC recruit on signing day as retribution.
  2. 6'5 210. QB or WR doesn't matter. Dez Tardy is an awful comp.
  3. Haha! I didn't even see "Onion" in the link and just saw "florida-state-joins" before opening the link. I thought this was a groundbreaking announcement that I somehow missed yesterday. Too funny!
  4. You don't say. A simple 30 second content search for "DT" and "leave" produced the screenshot below. You're allowed to have this opinion, but some of us who prefer not to see threads hijacked by easily refutable drivel can't share the same opinion? Sounds like rules for thee don't apply to DT.
  5. Not really. A lot of the more successful people I know have the self awareness to realize when they’ve errored and hold themselves accountable to do better. Seems like such a simple concept.
  6. Got it. 2 personal stories. Painting a VERY large fanbase of Carmel and CG fans based on the actions of 2 bad apples. Unfortunately, bad apples ruin it for everyone. I'm sure 99% of Carmel's fans have no problem playing WC or BD, but the few bad apples allow the stereotype to continue.
  7. The best part is that it's limited to the Merrillville fan who likely hasn't done his (still assuming it's Parkhurst) homework. If my math is correct, Mason is 7-5 against Merrillville from his time at Andrean and City. Not a good look for the Pirates to have a losing record against a guy who supposedly can't coach!
  8. How many times have you personally been told by a Carmel or CG fan that they weren't fond of playing urban Marion County schools?
  9. I would be willing to bet your ability to hold herself accountable and having the self awareness to know when you should played a large role in the length of your career. Congrats to Coach Smith. My mom worked with his wife way back in the day at the Porter County Government center in Valpo. My parents both spoke very highly of Brad.
  10. Wish you all the luck in the world as you search for another gig. But, if I were you, I would be prepared to answer why you job hop so much. Whiting needs someone committed to a re-build that could take some time.
  11. No offense, but I tend to ignore the hybperbole and overly emotional reactions that are common place in our world today. I'm a Finance guy. Unfortunately, I'm always skeptical until I have data to sway my opinion. Considering WC has no fan presence on road trips and averages about 200 people for home games, I seriously question the seriousness of your claims. Sounds more like deep rooted stereotypes that at worst were fulfilled by a few bad apples from CG or Carmel faithful.
  12. I could be wrong. I haven't watched a Portage game in person since the late 1990's. Just my assumption when I watch them live streamed or when I see a roster that they look bigger and faster than we were. We were probably better coached in the mid '90's. Buzea was very demanding on conditioning and discipline. Dave Turpa was also a great D Coordinator who could have been a HC elsewhere if he wanted the role.
  13. All that matters is who won, which was Michigan City. YOU specifically said Michigan City couldn't win a Sectional with Valpo in it. Now you're trying to back track to deflect from another completely awful take. I'm sure you'll do it again if City finishes higher than 4th in the DAC. Please go back to Facebook.
  14. This is depressing. Based on enrollment and socio-economic/demographic factors I think a 6A Title is a complete and utter pipe dream for my alma mater. But, competing in the DAC, winning a Sectional Title here and there along with possibly a Regional are not unattainable aspirations. I would argue the current raw talent is far greater than what we had in the mid '90's when I was there. The gradual switch in demographics with Lake County move ins has made Portage bigger and faster. Yet, they continuously get worse in football. Portage has never recovered from the day Buzea was forced out for exposing the disfunction within the Portage Administration.
  15. Wow, that's an awful take. The guy has only accomplished something no coach in the entire history of Michigan City athletics has ever accomplished in football at City, Rogers, or Elston by winning more than 1 Regional. And he's won a Regional 3 times since 2017. Then, for extra measure, Mason has 6 Sectional, 3 Regional, 2 Semi-State, and 1 State Tile on his resume as HC at Andrean. I fear Cody Parkhurst has finally found The Gridiron Digest.
  16. Washington Arizona Oregon Utah Colorado
  17. I did not know that about Kansas. Based on Academic prestige, athletic success and location, I would think the Big Ten has their eyes set on North Carolina and Virginia. I'm cool with just about anyone from the PAC 12 other than UC Berkeley. Ground Zero of liberal elitism, no thanks. My personal preference from the Pac 12 would be:
  18. Haha...that would be great. They've always relished the idea of being unique with their standalone NBC deal and independent football schedule. Force them into the Big Ten, SEC, or a bandaged ACC for football and now they're just like everyone else.
  19. I could end up being wrong, but I think Kansas has no value. Their academics aren't Pac 12/ACC caliber, the only valuable TV market they provide is Kansas City, and they are basically just a men's basketball school. I don't see a place at mega conference table for them.
  20. The Big Ten, Pac 12, and ACC formed an alliance last summer that was just nuked up by the Big Ten. At this point you can't trust anything you think you know about college athletics.
  21. This all seems plausible, but I think plausibility is out the window at this point. The Big Ten is likely going to bring in somebody out of Oregon, Washington, Arizona State and Arizona. I'm sure they're still working on the white whales of North Carolina and Virginia. At some point Florida State, Miami, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and yes even Notre Dame will be forced into picking a side. Ultimately, I understand why it's assumed the ACC and left overs of the Big 12/Pac 12 will be the last 2 super conferences next to the Big Ten and SEC. But, is two watered down leagues a reality? The Big Ten and SEC will still hold all of the invitations and decide who gets into the party, which makes those leagues irrelevant. That's why I strongly feel we're heading towards two super conferences that just break away from everyone else.
  22. Yeah. Ratings and who is on BTN don’t matter. All that matters is BTN being added to cable packages.
  23. Agreed. Highly doubt just USC and UCLA are coming. At this point it seems those running the show are making strategic moves that seem odd on the surface as they strategize a new league. Oklahoma and Texas willingly making their lives harder? USC and UCLA of all teams to the Big Ten? The split is inevitable and at that point it’s just a matter of who gets invited to the super conferences of B1G and SEC. At that point I would expect them to disband into different cohorts that could mix teams from different historical conferences.
  24. The old adage applies: Is the juice worth the squeeze?
  25. The AD, Super, and Principal recommended the hire? Unreal. Who is running sports for the paper in Michigan City. Seems like a good story to pursue on why the four voted no.
