  1. I'm over it. Living in Central Indiana the past 14 years has ruined my ability to handle a late Fall/Winter breeze coming off of Lake Michigan. I'm interesting to see how this one shakes out. This is a monumental moment for the upstart Boone Grove football program. They're on the Porter County side of Lakes Of Four Seasons, which is typically prime real estate for Andrean. This is a great opportunity for the Wolves to send a message.
  2. You could have said the same thing when Pete took over at USC. The then Pac-10 was awful. Meyer has the same opportunity for a quick turnaround at USC. At FSU, it's going to take anyone a while to catch up, if possible, to the machine Sweeney has built in Clemson.
  3. I disagree. California is a top 5 recruiting ground and USC is the "it" program, especially to So Cal kids. I would wager Washington and Oregon's recruiting sucesses in Cali wouldn't come to an end, but would suffer if Meyer was leading USC. Plus, like Ohio State, USC can recruit nationally. The Chargers are failing miserably in LA while the Rams have a decent following, but USC will always be LA's football team.
  4. Does he owe you money too? I have a feeling Jeff wins, but by less than a 7 point margin.
  5. WJOB is covering this one, so it’ll be streamed live in ihsaatv.org
  6. That would be idiotic. USC or bust for Meyer. Why compete with the SEC/Clemson/Miami for Elite recruits as well as a well oiled Clemson machine for ACC Titles when you can control the Cali recruiting scene with USC and not have overwhelming Pac-12 threats to overcome. I would bet he could compete with Oregon/Washington/Utah for a Pac-12 Title within year 2 in Troy.
  7. The complete lack of talent across Purdue's older players is a direct result of Hazell's record breaking abysmal recruiting classes at the end of his run. His hire was a complete and utter failure on the part of Morgan Burke, who drove the football program into a massive hole. A good friend of mine once taught at an MIC school and routinely spoke with the Head Ball Coach, who is well respected among GID following. Anyways, when the topic of Hazel recruiting that schools players was brought up, the HC seemed skeptical of Purdue landing his players and referred to Hazell as one weird dude. I thought that was an interesting tid-bit regarding a coach who routinely relied on poaching MAC commits as recruiting "wins."
  8. Ha! The visitor side was quite the unique venue. You'll be hard-pressed to find another stadium where the visitor bleachers are built on top of a creek at the bottom of a hill that contains railroad tracks.
  9. That's my takeaway as well. I honestly can't decide if Nagy isn't as good as I thought or if he feels completely held hostage by a QB he can't trust to make a 10 yard throw. I'm sure the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Chicago sports radio should be interesting today. I'm sure Watson's performance from yesterday will be mentioned at least 5 times.
  10. I watched the Hobart/Morton game Friday night. The 'Govs had great size on the lines and some offensive firepower led by JoJo Johnson who just recently fielded an offer from Cincinnati. Morton just kept hurting themselves and Hobart punished them with TD's. The Bricks do look impressive. As someone who is old enough to have played in the Brickie Bowl while Hobart was still a member of the DAC, I'm still not used to the Bricks playing in a brand new stadium on the outskirts of town. Still two more weeks of play and quality teams in the way, but the last great player Howell had (Osika) coaching against Russ Radtke to get Hobart back into a Semi-State would be quite the story line.
  11. I would think it has to be West Vigo over Indian Creek. That’s a 1-4 West Division team bearing the Conference Champ.

  13. No hyperbole here, I once played a Frosh game at Wirt and there was dog crap on the field. You're right, Roosevelt's stadium is a large relic of a once great venue. Especially, the track. The Panthers once completely dominated Indiana HS track and 'Velt was the scene for a track Regional.

  16. Agreed. I'm hoping this season isn't a fluke and Seiss has the Pirates back to where we would expect them to be: In the hunt for a playoff run and some quality talent on the roster. Their Senior class has 2 D1 commits in 6'7 320 OT Martes Lewis (Minnesota) and 6'0 WR Jeremiah Howard (Northern Illinois). 5'6 JR WR Armani Glass is popping up in the 247 database as well as 6'4 335 SO DT Kenneth Grant. You would have to go back to the Zac Well's era of competing for Regional and Semi-State Titles for the last time the Pirates had multiple D1 prospects on their roster.
  17. I really like this idea, except for the Saturday games. It seems like an attendance nightmare, a.k.a, revenue killer. Long term, I cannot imagine the Lafayette schools are thrilled to be in the NCC. I would limit the Saturday idea to a once a season extravaganza that can push the needle.
  18. Interesting. Mt. Carmel may have bolted the Big 8 prematurely. Of course, their exit created the domino effect of the SIAC and Pocket absorbing what was left of the Big 8.

  21. Jamaal Williams was a dominating RB for Merrillville. He ended up starting at Safefy for one of the best college defenses of all time, the '94 or '95 Nebraska team that annihilated Florida. I think one of the DL on that Nebraska D was from Lake Central.
  22. Carmel would walk away with the 6A title if D1 prospects were the deciding factor.
  23. Is Prather coming back this year for Morton? Man, I think they had Highland beat in OT if they wouldn't have missed the PAT at the end of the 4th Quarter. Morton controlled that 2nd half and was pushing Highland around by the end of the 4th.
  24. Some renovations made sense like CG, Westfield, Brownsburg. They needed the capacity and fans show up. It’s not always a packed house, but the crowds are large. Ben Davis and Warren were cosmetic makeovers. The current visitor side (old home seating) at each stadium is more than enough to accommodate the crowds each school brings to home games. The funding may have been private, it it doesn’t change the fact there was no real value added by building new home seating at BD and Warren.
