Other than Marsh retiring, what do you think has caused such a dramatic change in Munster? Demographic shift? Chicago Catholic League raiding football talent? Football no longer an importance? I am surprised Munster can't remain competitive with a majority of their Lake County counterparts.
-
I hate to give credit to DT, but he could have been right about his Ridge Road rival. It's possible Munster's program was driven into the ground by letting a coaching legend stay on too long. Or, the end of the Marsh era showed that Munster was just not going to produce enough talent anymore for a good football program and he salvaged what he could with a lot of .500'ish seasons and no Sectional Titles.

Lake Central is one of the biggest underachievers there is in Indiana HS football. No doubt about it.
-
Frankfort has over a 50% hispanic enrollment the last time I looked, which is absolutely crazy for a small town.
-
Oh geez. I have You Tube TV and never even think about picking up red zone. I hear there are now since ESPN is involved. How does that work this year?
-
Nice. It appears Braxton was benched in the 2nd quarter and wasn't injured. Did Trapilo switch over to LT? I couldn't watch this week. The Indy CBS station went with Chiefs/Ravens and I was too busy to make it out to a pro Bears bar.

I love what Byard said to the team in terms of changing the culture.
-
And it's possible the Bears will come close to or outnumber Raiders fans in Vegas.
-
Love the intensity this guy has!

Great atmosphere. Complete domination by IU. I read last week that Mendoza could be the top QB prospect in the draft. He looks the part.

Johnson called out Jones to the media on Thursday or Friday. He was asked how he felt about Jones, paused, essentially said that Jones preps well, starts well, and fades away in the 2nd half and that has to change. Seems like the door is open for Ozzie to take the job if he can adjust from playing RT at BC to LT in the NFL.
-
Exactly. I had zero interest in listening to Flus' pressers. Just vanilla answers that never really go the point or gave you an idea of how Trus was handling the situation. Johnson is a breath of fresh air. I look forward to watching this team improve throughout the year. I do wonder who he was calling out on offense for they way they play when the play isn't going their way. My money would be on Moore.

That's really surprising!!! The penalties create a negative perception, at least for me they did. Going back to Poles, does it not bother you that he hasn't drafted a single Pro Bowl player? I'm not throwing the towel in, but it doesn't feel like we currently have one of the better GM's in the league. Still penty of time left on the clock though for him to build a winner in Chicago with the extension.

Is New Pal a Lock in 5A?

Is New Pal a Lock in 5A?

The times have certainly changed. I was at Purdue from '97 to '01 and knew a decent amount of Geist area kids who went to LC. I'm guessing nowadays it's those neighborhoods who are now going out of district to Mt. Vernon unless they go to Chatard / Cathedral. -

Then throw in Ralph was an All ACC OL at North Carolina and clearly knows how to build a dominating OL. -
C'mon Coach, how many NFL GM's draft a Punter in the 4th round when they have many more pressing needs on the DL and OL? I'm all for waiting and seeing how this turns out and I'm still positive, but criticizing Poles is certainly fair game. He's had a lot of misses in the draft and in free agency. Unfortunately, key defensive injuries are starting to pileup and Johnson is possibly now out for the year. It's going to be hard for Allen to run his scheme when going man in the secondary will be tough to do.
-
What's even funnier is the Bears still don't have a reliable RB and Bucky Irving was taken less than 5 picks after Taylor.

Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 4)
Boilernation replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
1. C'mon Temp, ignore the records and get Crown Point out of the 5 spot. Somewhere around 10-15 is more accruate based on their complete lack of skill talent. 2. Bring back the weekly HCC and MIC predictions. Thanks! -
Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 4)

Hobart is VERY good this year. Big, tough, and not reliant on running the ball. 4A north should be very entertaining with Hobart, Mishawaka, Leo, East Noble, etc. Maybe Lowell sneaks in with the new coach from New Prairie. We'll see how they fair soon against Andrean and Hobart. Possibly South Bend St. Joe as well. -

What's the story on him this year? He's not even listed in Elkhart's WR stats on Maxpreps. -
Duneland predictions week 5?
Boilernation replied to Flyingangel's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I hope Buz goes easy on his former team but there's only so much you can do when you're playing a JV team. Crown Point by whatever they want the score to be. Agreed. Week 9 is likely the only chance for LaPorte or Portage to get a DAC W. 42-14 sounds fair. LC's offense will relish the not seeing Crown Point on the other side of the field. Big Porter County rivarly game. Valpo doesn't have a lot of talent is going through a down year. Not sure that's enough for Cheese Town to take advantage of. I'll take Valpo by 6. City's D was torn apart by Jeff so i would expect Merrillville to do the same. Not sure what to think about the City offense here. They showed up late against Jeff and late again last week against Valpo. They still have some playmakers and speed at WR even though they lost that D1 prospect to the portal and Chicago. QB is up and down. Can make big throws here and there. I really like your 35-17 prediction. Great chance though for French to get. statement win in the Duneland and finish 7-2. -
Is New Pal a Lock in 5A?

Slightly changing topicc, any chance Warren Township talent starts heading accross the county line and not to the neighborhoods that feed into Mt. Vernon. I don't know much about the housing developments and population trends down there. It's clear Brownsburg really took off when demographics started changing and Wayne Township type of talent started moving west of Raceway Road. -
Is New Pal a Lock in 5A?

I don't see it. Let's just celebrate the Pirates if they can break their O'fer string in Semi-State. The Bulldog lines of Crown Point completely manhandled and abused Merrillville. What do you think will happen if they ran into a Kyle Ralph coached line? Complete domination. 2019 Valpo showed The Region what you need on the lines talent wise and skill wise to compete with an elite Kyle Ralph team. This Merrillville team doesn't have it and having some speed at the skill positions won't do much. I would LOVE to be wrong and see the Pirates win state, but I'm afraid Temp is correct and 5A is a lock for New Pal at this point. Kyle Ralph is THE man. -
I think I underestimated how good Green Bay is and how much Detroit's offense would love to run the score up on Johnson. Word out of Detroit is they got sick of hearing about how they would decline without Johnson. I definately didn't underestimate how much of a liability Braxton Jones is at LT. Apparently, Darnell Wright is becoming one as well at RT. Both lines pretty much suck. Good thing Poles used his first 2 draft picks on guys that get basically zero targets. At least he drafted a RT that can't beat out Wright and isn't capable of switching to LT. Like a sucker I'll be dialed in on Sunday hoping it's the start of the turnaround.
