  1. I just saw that Mockobee is the second leading rusher in the NATION! Man the Miner defense had better pack a lunch for this game. How many D-1 offers is this kid getting?
  2. Predictions of 1,000 to 2 and 88 to 6? C'mon man!
  3. Does Boonville have a passing game? Everyone knows they can run the ball and knows about Mockobee. Just wondering if they throw any.
  4. IT IS OFFICIAL! The Big Ten will play football beginning October 24th. The vote was unanimous. The vote to shut it down in August was 11 - 3 with Ohio State, Nebraska, and Iowa voting against it.
  5. It took them a while but they were building something there. It wasn't just the one year they played for the title. They started out at 5 and 5 and got better each year for a few years. Then in 2017 they were 14 and 1 and went to state. Right after that Coach Paridaen was forced to leave. It's going to take a coach to be there and sell the program to the kids all over again. I just hate to see people making fun of them now. Would like to see them get back to winning.
  6. Not so fast my friend. MD plays one of the tougher schedules in all of 2A every year. They play ZERO 1A or 2A teams. Their schedule is all 3, 4, and 5A teams and several of them are top programs. Even if it's a rebuilding year, I would never count them out especially in the tournament. Don't look at their record and assume they went "south".
  7. So who runs it? And my question still stands no matter who is in charge of it.
  8. People tend to forget that Eastern Greene played for a state championship just 3 years ago. They were good while Coach Paridaen was there. RHIT he was "run out of town" because of certain parents. Now Eastern's program is dog crap. Such a shame.
  9. Saw this morning that no vote was taken yesterday and it still a "wait and see" approach. Wish they'd make a dang decision! I don't see how the NCAA can have a championship playoff at the end of the year and leave some conferences out of it. As long as the vote isn't 7 - 7. One more vote, one way or the other decides. Like 8 - 6 and they will have a season or 6 - 8 they will not have a season.
  10. As I understand it, the vote last time wasn't unanimous. So I have a feeling if a few minds get changed, the rest will follow. Just a hunch.
  11. Linton has 4 different backs who can go for 100+ on any given night. I believe last week no one went over 100 but I believe everyone had 60 - 80 yards. So you just can't key on one back. The passing game is coming around now with Hunter Gennicks at QB. No 200 yard passing games yet, but enough to keep the defense honest. So I expect Linton will score and this could very well be a shootout. Last week Edney from North Vermillion had some nice runs but he only ended up with 90 yards unless I am mistaken. However, I get that Mockobee is a totally different animal. One thing about the Miner defense, there always seems to be more than one guy in on a lot of tackles. Sometimes the announcers have to wait to see who gets off the bottom of the pile to say who got credit for the tackle. Linton is a young team that still sometimes makes young player mistakes. My hope is that everyone stays at home and does their job this week. Every once in a while, someone will over pursue or get out of position and it usually costs the Miners a TD or a big play. If it turns into a shootout, sometimes those are really entertaining games. Good health to both teams.
  12. ESPN is reporting that the conference presidents are meeting today to hear the latest medical info towards playing football. There may or may not be another vote today to have a season. The proposal is to start the season mid to late October. Looks like all of that pressure from coaches, parents, players, and fans have made an impact. Keeping fingers crossed.
  13. Here we are at week 5. These 2 teams started this series last year with the Miners winning the initial contest, 27 - 13. Both teams have played one common foe in Southridge. Ironically, both teams lost by the same 28 - 0 score. Last week Boonville lost to Gibson Southern while Linton took care of North Vermillion. Harrell is predicting a 28 - 27 Boonville win. The teams are close in the Sagarin ratings this week. This game could come down to whoever protects the ball. I believe that Boonville running back (Mockobee?) had a monster game last week. Linton has always liked the challenge of defending against a good running back. I expect this to be a close, hard fought game. I'm sure Miner Pride will give us a good write up later in the week. Go Miners!!!
  14. This game was 19 - 0 at halftime. The Miner defense made stops in the red zone, twice. North Vermillion started turning over the ball in the second half giving the Miners short fields which they took advantage of. The Miners had 430+ yards of total offense. Edney is a good running back for the Falcons. He had some nice runs. The Falcons scored towards the end of the game against the JV. On to Boonville.
  15. This is an intriguing match up. 5A Cathedral is rated #2 in the state behind 6A Center Grove in the Sagarins this week. Center Grove is ranked #13 in the National Poll. I guess that must mean that Cathedral is pretty darn good. However, 3A Chatard is rated #6 in this week's Sagarins so they must be pretty good as well. As a casual observer and having no dog in this fight, I'll go with Cathedral, 24 - 14 on the road although I think it will be close at the half.
  16. I don't give a witches teeth where the numbers come from. If you got it the first time, why were you comparing the wrong 2 teams? My statement was that Mater Dei is much bigger than Perry Central. Why compare MD and Linton? Had nothing to do with what I said.
  17. It's all good, BD. Just wanted you to know I wasn't making light of the pandemic. No need to apolgize, just wanted to "clear the air"with you. We're good.
  18. The list I looked at said 2020 - 2021. But whatever. You just won't give it up will you? I've explained it to you twice. The comparison was between Perry Central and Mater Dei with Mater Dei being much bigger. If you are going to troll someone at least keep up.
  19. I was talking about the difference between Mater Dei and Perry Central with Mater Dei being much bigger. Back in 1A it was Perry Central in sectional 48 as the team to beat. Now it's Mater Dei in sectional 40 in 2A. I just looked up the enrollments for 20 - 21. Mater Dei is listed with 497 students. Linton has 391. That is a difference of 108. But since I was comparing Perry Central to Mater Dei, I was only saying Mater Dei is much bigger than Perry Central and wasn't talking about Linton.
  20. What you say about getting over the hump is probably true. It took a few years to figure out how to consistently win the sectional and then the rest followed. Back then it was Perry Central they had to beat. These days it's Mater Dei, but they are a much bigger and stronger program. Maybe the Miners will never make much noise in 2A, but I have a feeling this coaching staff won't let that happen. No matter what, I'll always support the Miners. Arguments or not, there was still a lot of good discussion in "the old days". And there have been several teams move up by the success factor and not do that well in the next higher class. The jury is still out on the Miners. I don't see where it would do them that much good to drop back into 1A. That is, if their enrollment dropped. I know they have a 2A enrollment now and it's not success factor.
  21. And my response was to NE8fan and their question of what would they do if they got to week 10 and had positives. I only reminded them of what happened during the basketball tournament. At the end of sectionals they cancelled the rest of the tournament. I was NOT belittling the dangers of this virus. Let me make that perfectly clear. The crack about participation trophies was said in jest and with sarcasm towards the ISHAA. In fact, my opinion was they should never have had a season until this thing got fixed and we get back to normal. If that meant no season, so be it. Better safe, than sorry.
  22. Terry! Good to see you on here, man! I've wondered if you would pop on here occasionally.
