  1. Here we are again: Linton/Sullivan week. This is the second oldest series in the entire state. Opening week saw these teams going in opposite directions. Sullivan with an easy win over North Knox and Linton who was beat up pretty bad in the second half by a good Southridge team. Harrell's website is predicting the Miners will win, 35 - 17 in spite of the fact the Golden Arrows are ranked several spots ahead of them in the Sagarin rankings. The Miners looked rather bleak on offense last week. 3 picks and a turnover on downs gave the Pirates several short fields which they took advantage of and won easily 28 - 0. If the Miners are to win at Sullivan, they MUST take care of the ball, otherwise it could be another long night. Safe travels for everyone.
  2. FInal Southridge 28 :Linton 0 Southridge showed a lot of class at the end. They had first and goal at the 3 yard line with less than 2 minutes left but took a few knees to run out the clock. Linton self destructed in the second half. The Linton defense actually played pretty well. The offense has a LOT of work to do.
  3. 6:11 left in the game. Second half has been ALL Southridge They just scored on a pick 6. Southridge up 28 to 0. The Miner offense has been non existent. 3 picks and nothing running the ball either.
  4. Congrats to you Tut! I am not from Linton and moved there in 1995. So I have been following the Miners for 25 years. My son played for Coach Weber his first 3 years at Linton as head coach. In just my 25 years there have been highs and lows and in betweens also. So for a non native, 25 years is pretty good. I usually get to games in person but this year will probably different. But then again, it isn't bad listening to Dan and Darren on the radio. Enjoy, my friend!
  5. Great write up as always MP. Look forward to hearing the broadcast tonight. Considering what's going on with the virus I'll probably have to listen to all of the games on the radio this year since I am in a high risk category. Is Darren doing the broadcast with you or will it be Keith? I know the secondary is all "rookies" but I thought they made a pretty good showing against Bosse in the scrimmage. I guess we'll find out tonight. Doesn't look like the Raiders are favored by too much, maybe 4 points. Looking forward to a good game. Safe travels for everyone!
  6. Is that Bare Naked Ladies? They are a pretty good group. Never seen any naked ladies on here before. Apparently that is only shared with the people who donate $1,000.
  7. But this game isn't until next week according to the schedule. Hobart is at Chesterton this week and Pioneer plays Cass. Or are these games that have been changed?
  8. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Miner Pride. I know I have heard Southridge fans say if you want to beat the Raiders, you had better do it early in the season. They usually get stronger as the season goes on and are hard to beat. That 2017 game the Miners were close and had their chances. The Raiders won state by beating Woodlan 15 - 14. So the Raiders started and ended the 2017 season with one point wins. I can only imagine how exciting and nerve wracking it must have been for Raider fans. Can't wait to read your write up on this game, Miner Pride. The Miners looked fast on both sides of the ball against Bosse in the scrimmage. Hope that speed remains consistent for them this season.
  9. Not much chatter on this topic. For what it's worth: Southridge is ranked #10 in the 3A poll and Linton is ranked #11 in the 2A poll. How times have changed to be playing a ranked opponent the first game of the year. Good luck and good health to both teams.
  10. Scrimmages were last weekend. Now it's just regular season games.
  11. Woo Hoo! Miner Pride sighting! Now the season has officially started. LOL Good to see you MP. Did you see the scrimmage Saturday? The Miners seem to have a lot of speed this year on both sides of the ball. I was impressed by what I saw. Eslinger had a monster type game. He looked like a mini Darius Leonard. I also thought the secondary played very well for having to replace so many players. Lots of batted passes and I believe 3 picks as well. If you didn't go to the scrimmage, there is a link listed in the scrimmages thread and you could go there and watch it. The commentators aren't very good, but at least you can see the Miners in action if you haven't already. Look forward to hearing you on the broadcast Friday night. Will Darren be with you?
  12. Actually I think he got blood on it so he had to change. However Boyd took a few snaps with the varsity so there was 3 different qb's that played. Boyd is the JV qb this year.
  13. I thought Boyd took a couple of snaps with the varsity. So I DID see 3 QB's. I am with ya on from feeling more confident. Just hope as young as they are they done get over confident in themselves. Yeah it was scrimmage, but I was impressed with the team speed AND the good tackling I saw.
  14. Oh yeah! Pulled pork and corn on the cob!!!
  15. I was thinking the Linton roster has a lot of juniors and sophomores this year. And with only 5 seniors, that means they should be very good next year. Congrats to the JV for their big win! And yes, the JV looked good against Bosse also and scored a few times on offense and gave up no scores on defense. I was surprised at how fast the Miners looked on both sides of the ball. I think we are going to see some long TD runs this year and by more than one running back. Was also surprised they used 3 different QB's on offense. Isn't Goodman the starter?
  16. Adding Southridge to the schedule a few years ago was a good move for Linton. Starting the season against a quality program like Southridge is a good test the very first week of a season. 2 out of the three years they have played have been good games. (17 - 16 and 28 - 20 Southridge wins). i don't know anything about Southridge this year. Hopefully some fans will post about them on here. I thought I had heard that Southridge lost most of their skill guys to graduation. Not sure about that. The Miners are a young team but seem to have a good bit of speed on both sides of the ball. The defense looked good against Bosse in their scrimmage last Saturday. and gave up no scores. I believe most of the Miner secondary graduated, but the guys who have stepped in to play there played well in the scrimmage. Most of the receivers for Bosse were well covered most of the game. Plus I think the Miners had 3 picks in the game and several passes were batted away. As I said, Southridge is a quality program and always reloads. As much as I'd like to pick the Miners I'll say Southridge will win but I think it will be another close game. If fans are permitted at the game, I hope everyone has safe travels. Let the season commence!!!
  17. Just finished watching the Bosse/Linton scrimmage (thanks again sr1). The Miner defense pitched a shutout. The only score that Bosse got was a pick 6. The Miner offense scored 8 times according to what I saw. They scored through the air and on the ground. The Miners are a young team but there is some good speed on both sides of the ball. I'd say the "star of the game" was #2 for the Miners n defense. He is a linebakcer for the Miners and was all over the field making plays. I believe it is Eslinger. Maybe I spelled his name wrong. Sorry if I did. He had a fantastic game and kicked butt in the tradition of Miner LB's. Other than throwing 3 picks, the Miner offense looked good. The running game is a typical Miner running game. They were getting yards in chunks from the Wing T. I thought the secondary played well also. I thought the D line could stand to get more pressure on the QB. It wasn't bad, but not as good as past Miner teams. Something to work on I guess. Overall, it looks like the Miners have reloaded and can look forward to another good season. Next Friday they start to count.
  18. Do any Linton fans know how the scrimmage went between Linton and Bosse yesterday? It was scheduled to be played at 5:30 in Linton. I didn't see that fans were not permitted or that it was cancelled. Man I miss Terry. Too bad he moved away. Haven't seen Miner Pride on here in a while either.
  19. Isn't Chicago a democratic city? Asking for a friend.
  20. Now Nebraska is saying they won't jump to another conference this year. I wish someone would make up their mind already.
  21. Saw a report that said Ohio State is looking to change conferences for this season so it can still play football. Wonder how that will impact the Big Ten network and contract? Can they actually do that?
  22. Yeah the schedule is much tougher than it used to be. Not many "easy" games on there like there used to be. But those were days when the Miners could go 8 - 1 or 9 - 0 but not get far in the tournament some years. I like the tougher schedule. They aren't getting out of the sectional yet, but they are no longer in 1A either so the competition is tougher in the tournament, too.
