  1. Yes, I've followed the Miners since 1998. That is usually true about them reloading most years, but this year it sounds (to me) like a rebuild. Sounds like way too many losses (player wise) this year. A big senior class is around 11 or 12, but 17? That's a lot!
  2. I'm not overthinking anything at all. It is you who are NOT thinking. You STILL ignore the fact how difficult it is to schedule games. Multiply that by 9 (games) by 22 (independent teams) and also the other teams it will effect because of dropping them. YOU have no clue. There is nothing simple to that at all. You think it is simple because it is your "cool" idea and it can just be zapped into existence? Delusions, delusions, delusions. I'll just say: enjoy whatever season there is.
  3. Thanks for the info Tut. Sounds like a rebuilding year. Those don't happen too often in Linton. Didn't realize there was so many seniors. I knew the QB was coming back because Coach Oliver told me.
  4. Your "bottom line" is totally unacceptable if it screws over even one school no matter how big or how small they are. "When things go bad"? What things are going bad? There is no way this type of thing would happen in Indiana . I don't care if Hitler is the commissioner no one is going to force 22 teams to join conferences. You seem to ignore the issue of trying to get schedules worked out. I think you don't have a clue how involved that would be. But hey, keep it delusional!
  5. Nope. Swing and a miss! You have no clue about changing schedules especially on a short notice. The schools already on a team's schedule would lose a game because of your "idea". Besides, if I was an AD and the commissioner told me my school HAD to join a conference, I'd tell him where he could go. But then again, he'd only have to go there for what? one year? It isn't easy scheduling for some schools as it is. Some smaller schools are already on a tight budget. As I've mentioned there's the logistics (gas money for buses, etc). Are you sure you understand what accomodate means?
  6. You got "simple" right. I don't think Cox is "simple". And keep in mind not everyone sees the world through your eyes. To give some teams the ultimatum of "either do it this way or you're out" sounds like something a simpleton would suggest. Football is a big money maker for most schools. I couldn't sleep at night knowing I would have a part in taking that away from some schools. I've already mentioned how the schedules (and the logistics) would be a nightmare for some. I have EVERY doubt they could NOT put something together especially at this late of a date. These kids already have the same opportunity to play without being in a conference. But of course if the commissioner goes all Nazi, then I suppose they won't. Some teams got out of conferences just so they wouldn't have to go 1 and 8 or 2 and 7 year after year. They were able to get a more winnable schedule being independent. And before someone calls out about "get better or get over it", some schools made the decision to do this so they could have a few winning seasons and get butts in the stands. And what do you know? Their revenue went up.
  7. So your "solution" is to force 22 teams to join a conference at the last minute just to play 7 conference games. What about conferences with less than 8 teams? I have seen some teams having to wait a couple of years just to join. The schedules have to be worked out and the logistics. If you think the commissioner can just snap his fingers and everything will be fine, you are totally delusional. There's no way this would happen especially at this late of a date. But hey, if that's what you want to think, enjoy yourself.
  8. So your "solution" is to force 22 teams to join a conference at the last minute. Do you honestly believe that is going to happen? If so, you are totally delusional. Sometimes it takes a couple of years for a team to get into a conference. Schedules have to be worked out and all of the logistics. Your suggestion is totally unreasonable. But hey, you think the commissioner can just snap his fingers and everything will be fine. Not to mention: "either do it our way or it's the highway for your football season. Yeah, whatever.
  9. Any word out of Linton? Haven't heard anything this year except for a 2 minute chat with Coach Oliver at a Miner basketball game last winter. King Tut? You got anything?
  10. There are 22 independent teams in Indiana. Please explain to me how they will play for a conference championship. Oh and keep in mind, one of those independents is Cathedral. So you are going to tell them they can't play football because they aren't in a conference? Your proposal seems to be a bit lacking and assumes all teams (your words not mine) play in a conference.
  11. Gotta love it. They wait until now to make masks mandatory, yet there will be no punishment if you are caught not wearing one. Wearing masks should have been mandatory from the beginning. They go 4 months before deciding this is the correct move. People are STILL going to ignore it even though it is one of the methods recommended to stop the spread of the disease. And why should they wear one if there are no consequences if they don't. I see this as contributing to more fights, etc in every day society. Indiana could have been a national leader in this months ago, but apparently someone was worried about hurting someone's feelings or taking someone's decision away from them. by making this mandatory. You reap what you sow. There is not going to be a season. . There could have been, but not now. Too late to close the barn door once the horse has escaped. One human life is too many to lose. They speak of a few hundred deaths being acceptable. How tragic and how shallow.
  12. Just saw on the morning news that the reason Roncalli is dropping it's nickname, "Rebels" is due to someone is claiming it is tied to the Confederacy in the civil war. Unless I am mistaken, rebels was the term applied to the colonists during the revolutionary by the British. So do we try to cover up the revolution and pretend like it never happened too? This is another fine example of how common sense is all but dead in our society today. What's next? I"m guessing Patriots will be the next banned nickname. What about animal activists demanding schools/programs dropping the animal nicknames because someone will claim it's offensive to dogs and cats everywhere??? I hope Roncalli sticks to their guns and keeps their nickname. Maybe they have other issues to work on, but their nickname is NOT one of them.
  13. Is this fake news? If it isn't, it must be some stupid kind of joke.
  14. Not a peep about the players and their safety. Just drivel about parent and teacher bashing. Vert enlightening, NOT!
  15. Everyone is talking about masks, social distancing, etc for the fans. What about the players? How can they stay 6 feet apart when they line up in a formation? Then what about when they tackle someone? Having players wear a shield or a mask isn't the end all be all for preventing this virus spread. Everyone is getting sweaty. When you tackle someone can't it be spread that way too? To require the fans to do this and NOT the players is totally hypocritical. There should be NO season until there is a vaccine. That way there is more certainty and would cut down on most of the BS speculation.
  16. On paper, it looks like the AFC South will be a fight between the Colts and the Titans. O'Brien has trashed the Texans and Jacksonville really hasn't done much to improve in the off season. The Colts have an easier schedule than most this year, so they look to be set up for double digit wins. As I see it their 3 toughest games are: the Vikings, the Packers, and the Ravens. However all 3 games are at home so there's that. They do have the Steelers late in the year (on the road) who usually has their number especially in Pittsburgh. All things being equal I see the Colts with a minimum of 10 wins.
  17. Second round of the draft tonight. Now the draft starts for the Colts. Unless they do a trade, they have picks 34, 44, and 75 in these next 2 rounds. With all of the quality players left, they should get a couple of starters out of it. I'd like to see 2 WR's get taken. Personally I like Pittman and Claypool. Both big guys and great targets for Rivers. Claypool is a WR with a TE body so he could play all over the field. Also like Hurts for a QB selection. Wouldn't be unhappy with Cleveland or Houston for a tackle either. Also like WInfield at Safety.
  18. Considering how Rogers was treated when he first went to the Packers, I'd say he wants to get some kind of "payback". Not defending him, cuz I could care less about the Packers and especially Rogers and his big ego. They could have used the pick for help at WR before another QB. Not too bright of a move.
  19. Several pundits are saying the Colts are the most improved team in the league after free agency. With all of the signings they have had, it's no wonder. They have signed quite a few of their own FA's besides the ones from other teams. Several needs have been met and depth has been addressed. I expect the draft to be offensive heavy this year. Probably see a couple of WR's and maybe a TE. I really like Pittman and Claypool. Although Claypool is a WR he has a TE body. He could be moved to TE quite easily.
  20. Yeah they did. Meh, no big whoop.
  21. The Colts have signed veteran fullback Roosevelt Nix. One year deal but no details yet. This is a good signing. The running game should now be improved and he'll come in handy in short yardage situations especially at the goal line. He was All Pro in 2017 with the Steelers. He's also very good on special teams. Dude weighs 243 pounds. Me likey.
  22. Not you TD. Just don't see calling someone a fool as fun. In fact it's junior high mentality.
  23. No desire to. Besides, that's YOUR playground.
  24. Since when is it "fun" to belittle someone and call them a fool? I am surprised this tread wasn't shut down for that comment.
