  1. They will probably cancel the rest of the tournament just like they did in basketball last spring. Of course to make it "fair", they will give everyone a participation trophy and a juice box.
  2. Don't remember which poll, but last week they were rated 18th. Couple more wins and they will probably crack the top ten. They are really good. Shutting out Carmel was big.
  3. Hopefully things get back to "normal". I think both the boys and girls basketball teams have a good shot to win state this year (if they get to play). I know the girls will probably be #1 preseason in the polls since they had no seniors on the team and won state. It's too bad the boys didn't get a chance last year, too. As far as football goes, I know you always liked your spot up in in the bleachers. Maybe next season.
  4. I resigned myself at the beginning of the season to listening to games on the radio or live steam this year. I can't take a chance on catching the virus since I am in a high risk category. It stinks, but it is what it is. At least they are playing the games. I miss the discussions and even some of the smack talk we used to have on here. Miss seeing the fans at the games too. I watched the games either in the South or sometimes the North endzone. When the track was open, I used to walk up and down the track following the Line of Scrimmage. The North endzone wasn't as crowded as the South was. I've seen that South endzone be 10 people deep. And it was loud and boisterous. LOL Just crazy. Of course in the North Endzone you had about 50 kids playng "football". Every once in a while you had to watch that you didn't get run over. It was still fun. I know some of the Miners players over the years started out in that North Endzone.
  5. Yeah the conference seems to be down this year. It seemed to be heading that way a couple of years ago. Not that long ago, it was Fountain Central, North Vermillion, and Rockville battling for the conference title and all of them solid teams in class 1A. I know Rockville consolidated so PH has more or less taken their place. But to see Fountain Central AND North Vermillion both be winless after 3 games tells me something. There will be times when you have several teams in a rebuild not to mention this crazy year with the virus affecting teams. I get that. Maybe after this year it will get better. But this year, by all appearances, it is down. South Vermillion and PH are the 2 teams carrying the conference this year. Everyone else is just along for the ride.
  6. Man I miss the "old days". A Linton game thread would generate pages of discussion. These days you are lucky to get one. Is it posters have left this website or people just don't care now?
  7. Hard to believe it's week 4 already. It seems these 2 teams are going in opposite directions. The Miners have a 2 game winning streak and North Vermillion is on a 3 game losing streak. After 2 weeks of great defensive play, the Miners were mostly all offense last week as the defense game up 36 points. I believe the offense had over 400 yards total offense and 2 rushers had 100+ yards rushing against Monrovia. Harrell has predicted this game a 42 - 14 win for the Miners. Hard to believe that North Vermillion is winless so far this season. I guess it must be a rebuilding year and/or the virus has done some damage to the team. It is STILL North Vermillion but I expect a win by the Miners.
  8. What might have been could be said for a lot of teams. The first polls came out and Ohio State was ranked #2 and only 16 points behind #1 Clemson. There is a rumor now that the Big Ten is discussing starting their season in November. That will mess with the national title playoffs. The drama continues.
  9. Not making excuses for the Miners but they only have 5 seniors on the team and 2 of them are injured and haven't got to play yet. Add to that Linton's numbers are down this year (somewhere around 35 dressing) several sophomores and a few freshmen are on the varsity. In more normal years Linton would have 45 - 55 on the team. We weren't kidding when we said the Miners are very young this year. And having to use so many underclassmen on the varsity takes away from the JV. Not too surprised the Bulldogs won. A little surprised they got a shutout.
  10. Yes Monrovia has a proud football tradition. It's one of the reasons I like playing the Bulldogs. And their fans are loyal and knowledgeable. Good people. About on the same level as the Ritter fans. Looking forward to a good game as always between these 2. I am not going to any games this year due to the virus. On the flip side I get to hear Darren and Dan do the broadcasts every week. I agree the Miners probably grew up a little last week, and I also like the fact they won that on the road.
  11. Thanks for the info, Irish. Sorry this thank you is late.
  12. Obviously a tale of two halves. Congrats to Brownsburg. Way to represent!
  13. Dang, what's going on with North Vermillion? Is it the virus, or are they in a rebuild year?
  14. Both teams got their first wins of the season last week. Monrovia beat Edgewood, 20 - 8 and Linton winning at Sullivan in overtime, 22 - 16. Monrovia will be coming into Roy Williams Field with some confidence. Last year's season was winless for them so they have to feel good about getting a win this early in the season. This will be the 12th time these 2 teams have played with the Bulldogs holding a 6 - 5 edge. I'm glad they started this series. The program is a good one and the fans have always been great. The last 2 games between these 2 teams have been shutouts. The Miners won 35 - 0 last year and in 2018 the Bulldogs won 23 - 0. I don't expect this game will be a shutout for either team this year. Harrell's website is predicting the Miners to win 31 - 7. I'm thinking the first team to 20 points will win this game. Safe travels for our Bulldog friends.
  15. This game is a final. 24 - 7 Whiteland. Is anyone following the St X/Brownsburg game?
  16. So? They STILL beat a 6A team who is ranked 21st in the Sags.
  17. So I guess this elevates Pioneer to the poser child position for small schools everywhere. They are a 2A school even though they may have a 1A enrollment. Still it's impressive to beat a top 25 6A team. They'd get my vote now for #1 in the 2A polls. Congrats.
  18. The Miners had to work for it, but at least they won. LOL @ too short to pass effectively.
  19. Linton 8 Sullivan 0. 9 seconds left in the half. Linton scored on a short pass. 2 point conversion good.
  20. A game of this magnitude should be on ESPN. They show high school games every now and then.
  21. In the past 25 years, I can only think of 3 QB's at Linton who gave the Miners a legitimate passing game. (off the top of my head) They were: Jake Gennicks, Austin K., and Tyler Muerer. The Miners have usually been a run first type of offense. The only exception was the Austin K. years and even then they still ran the ball quite a bit. This year isn't much different than a lot of other years. The passing game just isn't there. But with only 88 yards of total offense last week, the running game wasn't there either. You have to give credit to Southridge. Other than the first drive of the game, their defense shut down what the Miners tried to do. The Miner offensive line was returning the most starters from last year. They were supposed to be decent. It looked to me like Southridge pretty much dominated them. That will have to improve this week and going forward. I agree the defense played pretty well last week. Yeah they gave up 28 points but mostly due to the offense turning the ball over and giving Southridge short fields. Plus they had a pick 6. I can't recall that Southridge had any long sustained drives. So the defense showed up.
  22. You are being generous with the 22 points. If the Miners don't stop turning the ball over and find some type of an offense, they'll probably get shut out again. Don't see the Arrows putting up 34 on the Miner defense either. Southridge put up 28 and none the the TD's were sustained drives. Most all were on short fields due to turnovers. Goodman is the QB and Smith played RB. The game will be on the radio, 93.3 WQTY. Miner Pride does a great job with the broadcast. Not sure if it will be live streamed.
  23. There are people who still refuse to wear masks, social distance, and wash their hands. How hard is that for people to understand? Ohio State suspended 228 students due to corona virus contact violations. Something to do with having parties and gatherings. Here in Indiana Holcomb was is was mandatory to wear masks in public but you won[t get fined or arrested if you are caught not wearing one. So what's the point then gov?
  24. I have lymphoma cancer. I was diagnosed with it 5 years ago. There is no cure. It has come back 3 times and as recently as December 2019. The frustrating part is it can come back at any time. I've had chemo, radiation, and medicine to put me in remission. Sorry for your loss TrojanDad. In 1998 we lost my mother-in-law and my mother to cancer within 3 months of each other. It was a rough year.
