  1. Considering there's only 2 other teams on "their side of the bracket", your statement doesn't say much, does it? South Spencer? The same South Spencer that lost at home to Boonville 49 - 13? The same Boonville team that North Knox beat on the road, 34 - 20? You can try to spin it any way you want, but North Knox is the team to beat in the bottom half of 40. All things being equal and no injuries, I don't see any teams in that half of the bracket stopping the Warriors ground and pound. They got some BIG boys toting that rock!
  2. I do know this: whoever is at QB, they have a ton of good receivers to throw to. IMO this is one of the best receiving groups that IU has ever had. From the WR's to the TE's to the backs, they are all very good. Not so sure about Penix not having any respect or trust from the team. And yes, Ramsey doesn't make mistakes with the ball. He sees the field really well, but I think Penix does also. Penix's play reminds me of a "poor man's" version of Fields (QB from Ohio State) in that he is a dual threat without really being considered a dual threat per se.
  3. The Warriors have to be pretty happy with their draw! It would appear they will be in the sectional final. Best of luck!
  4. If the IU defense ever gets consistent, then IU could be a "dangerous" team for others to play. But it seems to be that way the past few years with the defense. For several years, IU has an offense who is top 5 in the conference, but the defense isn't strong enough to put them totally in the top 5 best teams. They'll play well for a few downs and then give up the big play. I half expected Maryland to pull that game out especially when they got the ball with time winding down. But the defense did make a play at a critical time and sealed the win. It shouldn't have come to that. The game should have been decided before then.
  5. Since this is a football site, I was only talking about their football futility. Their closest conference game this year was with Tell City (48 - 14). Their 2 non conference games were against 1A Tecumseh (39 - 3) and 3A Brown County (41 - 19). Against the three 3A schools (Gibson Southern, Soutridge, and Heritage Hills) in their conference they were massacred 69 - 6, 74 - 0, and 70 - 3. Against the four 2A schools in their conference they didn't fare too much better and lost 48 - 14, 69 - 12, 61 - 7, and 42 - 0. That was just this year, but you can check on Harrell's and find that is pretty much typical of most years going back to 1994. I'm wondering what their attendance is like at their games? Maybe a few parents and that's it? That's just a guess but I don't see much support for a program like that. It's just hard for me to wrap my mind around a program that has been bad for so long and still dresses a team every week. I get that teams have down years, but this one has been down for decades. I still say they don't belong in the PAC (in football at least). I applaud the young men still suiting up and playing, but it shouldn't have to be that way year after year. Maybe a young coach with a lot of fire and motivation? Don't misunderstand me here. I am not posting this to belittle a program. I would love to see them be able to see them have some winning seasons. I just have a hard time understanding programs who seem to accept their fate instead of things getting changed/improved. Good grief! 25 years?
  6. I just don't get how a team with 25 years of futility, gets a pass and Shelbyville doesn't. Socioeconomics aren't great in Greene County either, but the Miners still win year after year. A lot of folks in Greene County have to commute to either Terre Haute, Bloomington, or the Naval Base at Crane. PC can't even win games in the smaller division in the Pocket and they are a 3A school. Maybe it's like you've suggested: the admins don't care about football. It's a shame that a school of that size (3A) is a doormat for even 1A schools. On the outside it looks like they have no pride in their program. I guess if they don't care, then there isn't much use in a discussion.
  7. Houston went all in to stop the run, which they pretty much did. However, with their banged up secondary, it was on Reich to take advantage of it with the play calling. He did and Jacoby delivered. Houston has a good defense but they are undisciplined, thus all of the penalties which was helpful here and there. The Colts have been looking for that WR2 to pair with TY. I think they found him in Pascal (at least for one game). When we get Funchess and Campbell back, this WR group is going to be scary good. Jacoby passed to 8 different receivers yesterday. That sounds strangely familiar.
  8. Appreciate the "love" for the Miners. However, they still have to get through sectional 40. I've already posted I believe the sectional 40 winner will at least get to semi-state if not state. At this point that will be either Mater Dei or Linton since they are the top 2 teams in 40 and I can't see any of the other 6 teams taking both of them out. I'm thinking the title game will be North Knox against Mater Dei/Linton winner.
  9. Maryland tried to be physical, but I agree. Nebraska will be more physical than those 2 teams you named. I would have to say that Michigan State was probably the most physical team that IU has played, even more so than the Buckeyes. I still think the Buckeyes are the best team in the country. They still have Wisconsin and Penn State to play (the Buckeyes that is). I'm thinking IU will probably win 7 games this year.
  10. Gotcha. Wasn't considering Ramsey as the starter. I see what you did there you rascal. I don't know who the backup would be. Let's hope they don't have to worry about that.
  11. Almost called that one! Southridge ends their season the same way it started with late fourth quarter games. They won that opening game in the fourth quarter and then lost the last one in the fourth quarter. Football is a crazy game sometimes.
  12. Huh??? If Penix can't play then Ramsey is the backup. I don't get your question.
  13. I know some people have been talking about Shelbyville and how bad they are, but what about Pike Central? I checked and I believe in the past 25 years they have only won 31 games! They need to get out of the Pocket Conference, go independent and schedule some easier teams and learn how to win. That's a LONG time to deal with losing. Their best record was 4 - 8 in that 25 year span. Wow.
  14. I'm hoping that last week's first half is an indication the Miners are tournament ready. They came out and pretty much controlled the line of scrimmage. Everything looked sharp and everyone looked focused. I raise my glass to the Miners and their journey in the tournament!
  15. Don't know about that, but I do know their SOS isn't that much higher than Linton's. So the Miners had better not take them lightly. They (North Posey) lost 4 games in the middle of the season to 4 really good 3A teams.
  16. Yep, I agree. Was a bit concerned they were going to give it away there at the end, but got the pick to seal it. Ramsey or Penix, pick your poison. Penix is a little more athletic and that's about all the difference between the 2.
  17. What a game! The Colts actually showed up after a bye week. Team win today. All three phases of the game contributed. Brissett just keeps proving the doubters wrong! Love it! First place in the AFC South! Now the Texans have to play catch up this year. The next 3 games are winnable: home games against the Broncos and Dolphins and a road game at Pittsburgh.
  18. Meanwhile back at the game, IU picks up a needed road win. One more win and they should go bowling. Allen has a luxury having 2 starting qb's on the team.
  19. Congrats to the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds for winning and getting rid of the goose egg.
  20. True but nicer if one of them (Mater Dei or Linton) would have been in the bottom half of the bracket. That way the 2 best teams in 40 would have had a better shot at meeting in the final. But like my screen name: it is what it is. I'll pick Linton, Mater Dei, Tell City, and North Knox to advance out of round one.
  21. That was no slam at you, Gipper. Just an observation about how things are going in society. At my work, the break room can be full of people. All of them (except me) are looking at their cell phones and NOT talking. Really weird. If you say something to one of them, they give you a look like, "don't bother me I'm playing a game or I'm texting or I'm watching a stupid cat video". I've often wondered what would happen if cell phone service was lost for just 24 hours. I think some people's heads would explode because they wouldn't know what to do.
  22. Too funny Gipper! I almost choked on my beverage.
  23. Other than DT does anyone give a crap about grammar any more? These days people are too used to texting. Grammar doesn't matter in texting. Conversational communication with our fellow human beings is becoming a lost art. I would type "L O L" but it's more sad than funny.
