Offensively yes. I have a hard time believing they have replaced the two D1 kids on the defensive side of the ball That is where they ran into problems in the State Finals. (Honestly, everyone except East Central had problems stopping Roncalli.)

I watched the Roncalli-EC game with great interest. Roncalli and Chatard both used to be 2 TE, power toss, and a cloud of dust to great success. About 5 years ago, they both seemed to go to more of a spread formation, but still running a lot of read options and powers. (Kind of coincided with Lorenzano and Scrifries retiring, I think.) I thought EC ran a similar spread against Roncalli, but with a lot power running principles. (I think they went wildcat in the redzone and 1 time to start a possesion in the 2nd half) First time I recall seeing EC in that type of spread. Don't remember it in any of the previous Roncalli-EC games.

They are throwing the ball better than I have seen in the past. Or maybe it is #1 is just better at catching the ball and outrunning everyone on the field than I have seen in the past. He is a player!

3 out of the last 4 seasons, Lawrenceburg has played a PAC/SIAC team coming out of the GS sectional. Lost by 3 TDs every time. I think GS makes it 4/5.

And this was really buried under the headline of enrollment based reclassification freeze.

And I have no idea what this means for LCC and Chatard.

Not sure how to answer that question. Is LCC the only case where this applies? I tend to be very litteral when interpreting the rules. They don't have two points in their new class, so that seems to imply they would drop. Probably a scenario the IHSAA did not consider when they made the ruling.

So spent a lot of time reading the memo to make sure I pulled out the right information. Here is what I think I know: 1. The next two year cycle is 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. 2. Points earned in 2020-21 and 2021-22 will be applied to success factor determinations. Winners: Evansville Memorial, New Pal as long as they don't win regional, they drop a class Draw: Southridge, Pioneer they stay up because of last season. Were probably staying up anyway. Going up: Cathedral, Roncalli, Luers, South Adams, Danville, and Hobart go up if they go to semistate.

If Roncalli is #1, then EC at #5 in coaches poll does not make a lot of sense to me.

I agree that success factor two year rolling may seem fair at first glance. Would be interesting to go back and see what differences would be rolling vs current format.

Where did you hear this? Success factor is not a rolling two year period.

Someone did not watch the game on Friday. If EC's receiver had not downed himself on the wrong side of the first down marker, we might be talking about a new #1 in 4A. Not sold on Mooresville until their D shows they can stop someone. The Mooresville-EC game will be one of the better second round games in the state.

Their post season success is as good as anyone south of the Indy metro area.

If you look at the scores, EC and Chatard are the only 4A teams that have played within 3TDs of Roncalli the past two seasons.

I think it will be a great game.

The one thing I can guarantee is that Roncalli will not overlook Chatard. The close score in the first game got Roncalli’s attention. I though Chatard played pretty well, but they still lost. The 5 wins in a row are games they should have won against teams that are not very good.

Would not say they “got” any breaks. I would say they “made” their breaks by winning the turnover battle, the penalty battle, and made a few big plays. I thought it was interesting that they showed the spread passing game and the 3-4 defense in this game. Gives other teams something to think about.

Maybe not surprised by the winner but surprised at Memorial only putting 7 on the board.

Kind of a head scratcher in Paradise if that score stands.

Can EC play better than that? Got a few big plays. Won TO battle. better penalty ratio. passed well.

That seems to support the classification periods as I understand them. I think the hold in enrollment based classification changes has everyone a little unsure of what will happen.

My understanding is no. First title was in another classification period. Win state and regional next year and they move up.
