LaVille / Wabash
from_the_sidelines007 replied to Football Guru 25's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
So let's take a further examination at this ... Just did some digging ... From what I'm hearing, Wabash is playing better the last few weeks of the season and finished 5th in the TRC. Wabash has a solid defense. Pretty strong up front and have speed on the edges. Not a sissy defense and yards may be hard to get if LaVille's offense is too predictable. Wabash will look to spread LaVille's defense out. They have a pretty solid OL and some skilled players. If Wabash can catch LaVille napping on 'D' they could get in the end zone. Last week, the Kelscheimer young man rushed for over 200 yards against Whitko has 988 yards and 11 trips to the end zone on the year according to Maxpreps. QB Payton Sodervick has thrown for 996 yards this season and 9 TDs against 6 picks, according to Maxpreps. WR Bryant Boggs has almost 700 yards receiving and 8 scores. Wabash is 1-3 against teams with a winning record ... lost to 9-0 southwood, beat 5-4 Alexandria by 2 points, got beat by 5-4 Northfield, and beat by 7-2 Maconaquah. LaVille is 1-2 against teams with a winning record ... beat Culver Community 13-8 last week, lost 36-14 to Pioneer with four chances to score, had a turnover at the goal line and lost the ball on downs three other times, lost to 13-3, and flat struggled to move the ball. LaVille wants to run the ball .... have a variety of backs, but tends to be too predictable. Doyle is a capable QB. Has 6 TD passes and 5 INTs according to Max. He has been seen trying to force the ball at times, but give the kid his dues, he is NOT afraid to run the ball and not afraid to run somebody over. According to Maxpreps, Watts is the workhorse with almost 100 carries, about 650 yards and 8 TDs. Dill, Pope, and Doyle are the other backfield threats according to Maxpreps with the next highest yardage totals. Looks like Doyle's go-to man is Dill with over 20 catches and 3 scores. Both teams have speed and big-play guys if somebody doesn't pay attention. Wabash has scored 77 points in the last three games, while LaVille has scored 54. Dr. John Harrell says LaVille 35, Wabash 14. Wabash is 4-0 when they score 20 points. LaVille is 4-0 when they score 27 points, but have won three straight because of its defense. I just think LaVille has a few more weapons and a better 'D' overall. Gut says low-scoring game, but ..... as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

@Muda69 I was just surfing and found a link with information - tidbits of winning and losing. I still stand beside you and the incorrect insinuation your thread was made to openly mock high school football programs. Paul Condry and Matt Kopsea are supposedly two revered Indiana sports writers. Heck, Paul Condry puts together Indiana Football Digest. Below are just a few stats brought up by Condry and Kopsea in a story sponsored by the Indianapolis Colts. ***** UPS AND DOWNS Here is the last time these teams were 8-0. Just curious .... I know several folks from Caston and appreciate each of them for the position they hold and the job they do. Some fine, fine folks at Caston! As for picking Soccer or Football, that's up to the those higher on the food chain. I know that Caston won the HNAC Boys Soccer Championship this season. Not that that matters at all. Just saying. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -
I relaize that it very hard to read into words and meanings on a text, email, etc. I just do not believe that Muda meant any negative tones in his given threat. Muda did not point out any single kid or coach as the fault of a given team not winning a game so far this season. Muda was merely pointing out a piece of information that crosses people's minds during any athletic season. It does not have to be football .... it can be any athletic team that plays another opponent where we have a winner and a loser. Fans talk about records, the media talks about wins and losses, and, please don't tell me that ball players have never mentioned that the team they are about to play is Oh and whatever or haven't won a game yet, or whatever. That is just not realistic! I may be out on this limb by myself, but I did not take Muda thread as disrespectful or intentionally negative. If I fall, I fall .... as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

Cool Moment Culver/Caston
from_the_sidelines007 replied to TheStatGuy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
In a world that spends more time reporting the bad things, it is great to see human interest stories for the good of the cause! What a great gesture by both Caston and Culver. And to see the Culver players right there running along side this young man . . . now that's sportsmanship! Life is about more than just sports, but sports can certainly play a huge role in molding a life. Congratulations to Hunter, Caston, and Culver! Job well done, men! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -
Unless there is something we don't know about. . . In this case, Admin has overstepped boundary here. You hired a coach to do a job. Let the coach do his job! It is up to the coach to manage the game. The score falls under game managment. Sounds like coach was managing the game and got his hands tied. IMO, an administration that is trying to micromanage. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

NIC WEEK # 7
from_the_sidelines007 replied to Indian72's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Hold on for a minute Guru and Curtain . . . . TurfToe thinks there is too much HNAC on this thread, like the HNAC thinks they are relevant. Maybe we ought to take our ball and go home! After all, he can't wait for Mishawaka to join the NLC for some good natured bantering. On the other hand, the last time I checked the HNAC thread had far more views than the NIC thread for Week #7. Not sure what TurfToe means by relevant.?! I think the HNAC thread is extremely relevant. Discussion, banter, digs, proud supporter's of their respective team(s). In this case, it so happened that Glenn (NIC) was playing LaVille (HNAC) this particular week. Both threads alive and well! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

Culver at Caston = Cavs by more than I can count on my fingers and toes. Knox at Pioneer = Have watched Knox and Pioneer .... Gut says this is gonna be a good football game. The champ is the champ until proven otherwise. Going with Pioneer. LaVille at Glenn This is a big game for both LaVille and Glenn. Who has the horses? Who can stick 'em on 'D'? LaVille's defense is solid. The offense has been inconsistent in big games. Just not sure how effective Glenn's offense will be. Glenn has been winning a lot at home against LaVille in recent history. Gut says LaVille in a close one. North Judson at Triton This one has gone back and forth the last several times they crossed paths. Going with NJSP by a TD. Winamac at West Central Warriors might be on the down side now, but the puppies gonna bite on this night. Winamac as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

So if we are letting the BOYS settle the game on the field, let's take a look at some items in the Glenn-LaVille series over the last 15 or so years .Glenn leads 14-4 since Brian Glesing was coach Glenn is 7-1 during that time at JGHS. Glenn has allowed LaVille just one score seven times. Glenn has also 3 shutouts during that time. Coach H is 3-3 during his tenure against his alma mater. IMO, LaVille wins this by 10.
