  1. I didn't mind San Fran throwing the ball on 2nd and 5. They had Kittle matched up on Suggs and he was wide open for at least a 15 yard gain if the ball isn't tipped at the line (Great play by Jones). That being said, on 3rd and 5 I am either running the ball or making darn sure the ball is not thrown incomplete--even taking a sack would be better than what happened. Shanahan got plenty of guys open in the 4th quarter, but the plays weren't made. You can't bash him as a coach for blowing this lead the same way he blew the 28-3 lead in Atlanta--one game he ran the ball too much, one game he threw the ball too much. Can't have it both ways. I thought the surprising difference in the game was KC's ability to run the ball and also get the ball on the perimeter to wear out the pass rush. The 49er front 4 was dead those last 10 minutes, despite how much they dominated the first 3 quarters they didn't have the ability to factor in as much in winning time. Believe it was Walsh who said the single biggest factor for winning in the NFL is 4th quarter pass rush...49ers didn't have it and Chiefs did.
  2. This is a good thing for IU and Mr. Ramsey. Good luck to him, I'm sure he will have success wherever he decides is the best fit from here
  3. And the winning QB in the game started his college career as a wide receiver LOL
  4. To get back on track here...when was the last time a title game had this much hype from the QB position on both sides? Most likely top picks in each of the next 2 drafts going up against each other, both look to have star potential at the next level. Tebow vs Bradford in 08 comes to mind, but not sure it was this level. Leinart vs V young in 06 has to be the closest, but not sure Vince Young was on either of these guys' level as a pro prospect. Going to be fun
  5. Oh I agree with you, definitely not saying the committee should have put anyone other than Oklahoma in with the way their system works. But, I also don't think Oklahoma is the 4th best team in the country. Not that it really matters, it's been a 3 team race all year and LSU likely boat races whoever they play outside of OSU/Clemson.
  6. Totally agree. LSU's backups were more physical than Oklahoma in the 2nd half. Outside of Lamb, there wasn't a player on OU's offense that could play with LSU's defense even with them playing primarily man to man coverage. Edwards-Helaire wasn't full strength for LSU, their coaching staff (Primarily Co-OC) was dealing with a tragedy, and the game was still over 5 minutes in. I would have much rather seen the dreaded Crimson Tide, or Georgia, or anybody else play LSU again rather than the Big 12.
  7. Well we are seeing why there isn’t an 8 team playoff lol
  8. Great discussion point. I think it largely B, but A is also definitely a factor. The biggest thing I see with our kids, and also at higher levels is the desire to make the big hit leads to poor technique i.e. no arm wrap, feet leaving the ground, head down etc..I think kids also struggle knowing when to use some of these new techniques that are being taught to make the game safer. While I think they are great and should be taught at all levels, it's definitely difficult to get kids to understand when to use a roll tackle, how to use leverage, what the difference is between a profile tackle and a heads up tackle etc.. As Belichick often puts it, the point of defense is to get the guy with the ball to the ground. Doesn't have to be a big hit, doesn't have to be a highlight reel event, just gotta get him to the ground. The Patriots have won a lot of games in very large part due to their tackling ability--see Dont'a Hightower's tackle on Marshawn Lynch the play before the infamous interception in the Super Bowl.
  9. I was thinking that too! Lol looks like he is listed at 6'7 335 so I think it's the latter
  10. Auburn played 5 of the top 13. Oregon, Florida, LSU, Georgia, Alabama
  11. Oh I'm in! This looks like an awesome idea!
  12. Committee got the 4 teams, and the seeding right. 8 teams would be WAY WAY too many, this year especially. Should be 3 really good games to settle the title. Don’t sleep on Clemson!
  13. Ohio State LSU Clemson Rest don’t matter. If Georgia beats LSU they are 4. If not Oklahoma gets it with a win. It’s a 3 team race in my opinion. 8 teams would be cool to see some years, but I don’t think this is one of those years. I don’t need to see Utah/Oregon get mauled by 40.
  14. Houston, while perhaps more talented, has to prove they can beat the Colts. If TY is playing I have no reason to believe that happens tonight. The Colts took a big step forward to get back on track last week; Houston got exposed. I’ll take the Colts by 6-7 points in a game that isn’t as close as the score says.
  15. Tunitis made one of the best throws I've seen from a high school QB against us to the back of the end zone. If I remember right the receiver didn't complete the catch, but the throw was ridiculous. I have no clue who the best QB in the state is, but Tunitis is definitely talented. Probably didn't get enough attention this year.
  16. You forgot about finding a new QB and upgrading the O Line
  17. How good was Bama before Saban got there? I’d say there are 2-3 other coaches who could dominate there in college football today, but don’t forget how bad of shape that program was in when Saban took over. Only 47 wins from 2000-2006.
  18. This is year 1 of the 2 year cycle, so last year's points don't matter. If they get 3 points this year and 3 points next year then they will bump up.
  19. Everyone can blame Vinny, and rightly so, he has been pretty bad. You just can't miss short kicks indoors; can't happen...but the Colts biggest problem right now is the slump that their offensive line is in and the fact that they don't have any receivers that can get separation. Yet again tho, the sky is not falling. Should get a win this week and then the game of the year in Houston. Houston has to prove they can beat the Colts before I'll buy in to their hype.
  20. Go Wolfs and their flatus hoagies!! Go Falcons and their cacki shorts!! Man I wish I could make it up for this one. I'll take the Wolfs by 9-12 points; the huge, powerful and overwhelming force or institution will be too much for the Falcons. A no fly zone of flatus hoagies will be established early to contain the blue birds
  21. How many of you Bears fans are on the Cam Newton bandwagon for next season? Or any other potential QB that is likely going to be leaving their current team?
  22. Good luck to NK tonight. Hope to see them play well and have a shot at winning this thing late in the 4th! Much respect to the MD program, so I expect it will be no easy task for the Warriors.
  23. I just find it funny that you said that a day after I posted: "Easy now, it's a long season. I expect Luck to miss a game or 2 as well but that isn't going to make the season a waste. He could miss the first 4 games, which is still just glorified preseason, and the Colts could be 2-2 with Brissett. I could even see 3-1 with an opening day loss to the Chargers and then wins against TN, ATL, and OAK. Colts will still be the division champs at 10-6 or maybe even 9-7 with Luck missing 4 games worst case scenario. No reason to hit the panic button on this season yet." So somehow you went from saying the Colts would have "no division title, no playoffs, no nothing" and hinting that they may need to draft a QB who can stay healthy to proclaiming how great the offense was going to be with Brissett. That's talent.
