The fact that we are playing at home is huge. Mooresville fans will love the enlow scene and College HWY will be rocking! Watched EC game and I can say that they are big and can wear us down which worries me but we have the best player on the field in Brock Combs and if he played like he did Friday ...... well you know what will happen #FTF

Both teams have a very gifted player that plays both ways. Ev Memorial has Brock Combs that plays both ways. Mooresville has Brayden Evans that plays both ways. Both very dynamic for their teams. Should be a good one down at Enlow for Regionals, Congrats to the Tigers on avenging their loss to the Bears in dominating fashion. Congrats to the Pioneers on beating #1 East Central in a very physical game.

That's why I gave you yours.  And oh by the way I attended the game so try BSing someone else.  Think what you want but by every metric you're wrong.  And lord I hate doing this on this thread but like @Temptation I'm obligated to correct complete falsehoods!!!  I just can't wait till Friday night.  Should be one heck of a game!!!!

@dmizers3 I step away from the thread a little bit and you feed the trolls. lol Well we tried to have some good game dialog!

Fact - Cathedral won. Fact - Chatard lost. Fact - your opinion and commentary = hilarious. Looking at your posts throughout, you are nothing if not consistently stupid. No value, no basis, no thought - but a lot of opinions based on....well, nothing apparently.

It is very unsurprising. I would feed him no more. Best of luck to the Trojans.

  3. The team I support doesn’t play at the H.S. level. They are doing just fine. No offense but you’ve really ripped into sone 16, 17, and 18 year olds calling some out by name. I can see where their parents would be upset. My suggestion support the team you root for, keep in mind they are teenagers playing at will make some mistakes along the way. Don’t stop supporting them because ultimately they are learning the game of football! Then you don’t have to retract!

and @IndplsCathedral_Dad I appreciate you and your honesty! I wish you and your son the best!! Mean that from the bottom of my heart! You are a great dad! Same goes for you @CaptainHook!! I wish you both the best of luck! Unfortunately this game has to come from a regional but would be a great State Championship game!!

You don’t mention Cathedral’s defense in your remarks, but I think you have to mention that with the offensive stars you pointed out. In my mind, run defense is our biggest strength. 300lb+ Sean Oldham at nose and David Guhl at DT are both excellent linemen. And D1 bound Shiloh Means is a Bob Sanders-esque hammer at free safety. It will definitely be won or lost in the trenches when Nee Pal has the ball. Cathedral has given up most of the points this year through the air. We’ve rarely had a RB run it down our throats. So, it will be great to see if Spegal gets it done.

The Irish tailgate will be starting early for this one!! Let’s gooooo.

Yes I have not talked fully about defense. I was only speaking on both teams Offense.

EC v. Mooresville will be a contrast in styles.  Personally, I think EC’s grind it out style gives them an advantage this time of year when weather can be all over the board.

Going with Memorial.  Discipline is everything this time of year and I think they have the big edge there.

I watched this game and it lived up to what I thought it would. Both teams wanted to run the ball and both defenses were playing solid. I expected a low scoring affair I was thinking a 14-7 or 21-14 type of game it ended up 17-14. I gave the nod to Mooresville because they were at home. I thought both teams fought hard. Mooresville made just enough plays in the passing game, hit a big FG, and had a great INT at the end to win the game. Both coaches should be proud of their teams they fought hard!

The Arlington field was in good shape and was a bit churned up at the end of the game.

Another disappointing Cathedral crowd tonight.  The weather was not that bad as there was no win.  The 8th week at Brebeuf Jesuit was much more uncomfortable than tonight.  Irish fans need to get out and watch these young men!

I was going to ask how you thought the field held up. I enjoy your observations.

Its gonna be fun for sure.  I would give the slight edge to Cathedral because I think they have been the more consistent team all year.  While New Pal has played great when they've had to, I've seen them not look like a title team several games.

Yes it will be fun. Here is my opinion of both teams offenses:

New Pal  has been very methodical offensively, they definitely have the capability of big plays for scores. New Pal is perfectly fine with methodically moving the ball down the field and wearing a team out, then when they do wear a team down they will step on the pedal and start hitting big plays. They have a RB like Spegal who is fine with being a work horse and pounding at teams or ripping off big plays. That being said Roth has been a very steady QB who can run and when they need to throw he has 2 terrific WR's in Hook and Large that not only block well down field, but they can make big plays in the passing game. The New Pal O-line is very sound, disciplined, and strong. Any New Pal fan feel free to correct anything I have wrong, it won't hurt my feelings. I am unbiased and just go by what I little I do see.

Cathedral can be methodical and have a few times, but it seems when you think they are going to do that they hit big plays catching the right moments. Offensively they can be deceptively fast because their runners will be patient but when they see open field they can turn on the jets. Their RB Hall can chew up yards in chunks with his speed, and the other RB Langdon while being comfortable pounding the ball has shown in open field he has some great speed too. At QB Edwards has had moments where he throws a little high, but he can put great touch on the ball. He can run the ball very well when he needs too and is pretty quick himself. He is very comfortable sitting in the pocket to throw or throwing on the run and has can elude pressure. At WR they have some  quick guys who can get behind the defense for some big plays. They also have a big strong O-line that plays very solid. Just like with New Pal if any Cathedral fan wants to correct me feel free it definitely will not bother me.

Several times actually including last night.  Heck they didn't convert a 3rd down in the 1st half last night.  That doesn't preclude them from being arguably the best team in the state but to imply they've moved the ball with ease all year against everyone is inaccurate.   They do a great job of making big plays and doing what they need to do.  But by no means are they unstoppable.

They were 0 for 3 on 3rd down conversions and 0 for 1 on 4th down conversions in the first half. The Irish had open receivers on a couple of their 3rd downs and the QB threw the ball high, but I don't think they struggled against the defense they were playing. I think it was more of the QB just being a little off on his throws. They did  have 291 yards of offense and 28 points in the first half compared to DC's 112 and 0 pts.  I don't think anyone would say that they are unstoppable either.

This Cathedral at New Pal game will very interesting. Both Offenses can put up points and make big plays. The defenses for both teams while not talked about much are spectacular. There are skilled players for both New Pal and Cathedral. I think this game will definitely be a game that will be won in the trenches and they both are strong in that aspect. I agree it is a toss up game. If you were to ask me who the favorite would be I would say New Palestine because #1 it is at New Pal and #2 New Pal is the defending State Champions. Both teams have terrific coaching staffs, terrific defenses, and terrific offenses. Definitely should be a good one.

It's my opinion that you are incorrect about Cathedral not being s "speed" team.  Maybe you should check with some of the Irish opponents and get their perspective on that.  Plenty of "speed" on both sides of the ball.

Agreed! Might be one of the faster teams the Irish have had in the "team speed" category..

So 96-0 (never forget!) is "wholesome" amateur athletics?  A 20+ game losing streak with no end in sight is "wholesome" amateur athletics?

Except Crawford County did get a win. Regardless of the outcome of their games. Being at practice through the week, at a game on a Friday night, etc is a lot better than running the streets, or worse case scenario a player developing an addiction to any number of drugs.

I still think WL is the favorite here.

Not to complain............. but I still can't believe this game isn't going to be broadcasted on IHSAAtv or Indiana SRN

IHSAA Champions network should have picked up the WL at Chatard game, and let Hamilton County TV Sports pick up Westfield at Carmel. The other IHSAA Champions Network will be at the East Central at Mooresville game (which will be another good one). WHMB TV 40 is at Franklin vs New Palestine. Surprised SRN selected Scecina vs Heritage Christian.

Agreed.....baffled why this game isn’t broadcasted.  Honestly, biggest game of the weekend.

Perhaps all the networks were upset also that Chatard wasn't playing at the field of Champions and boycotted!
