Things that can improve the tournament
Punttheball replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I did not know we had a choice in what rules we wanted to follow and which we didn't. Don't tell Mr. Falkens! Did they tell the referees the players could wear their pants above the knee? Or no knee pads needed at all? I would like to see the use of drones be allowed in the tournament. We use them all season, and then they are banned. -
The minimum size is so a kid does not wear multiple towels that look like a hula skirt. It's almost like strips that flag football wears.

Is there hope for Attica?
Punttheball replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Looks really nice. I see what looks like a design flaw to me. I would not want the scoreboard directly behind the goalpost. That thing is going to be abused. I really like the alternating greens. Awesome facility. -

I'm sorry. I thought the conversation was about Adriano.

Winamac 24, West Central 16 (Friday): Freshman quarterback Xavier Adriano threw for 74 yards and a touchdown and also had a 6-yard touchdown run for the host Warriors as they held on to beat rival West Central Friday. Addison Allen had a team-high 65 yards rushing and 47 yards receiving, including an 8-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He also had two two-point conversion runs. Ethan Burgess caught a 17-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter that put Winamac ahead for good at 16-8. Winamac won despite committing three turnovers and committing 11 penalties for 105 yards. Talen Garner led the defense with seven tackles and three assists, including one for loss. Tearson Wolford had five tackles, including three for loss. Allen had four tackles and five assists. Louis Rugg III and Hayden Taylor each had an interception. Winamac held West Central to seven yards passing. Winamac 24, West Central 16 West Central 0 8 0 8 – 16 Winamac 0 16 8 0 – 24 First quarter (no scoring) Second quarter WC – Villarreal 75 run (Villarreal run) WIN – Xavier Adriano 6 run (Addison Allen run) WIN – Ethan Burgess 17 pass from Adriano (Allen run) Third quarter WIN – Allen 8 run (Adriano run) Fourth quarter WC – Villarreal 8 run (Villarreal run) It sure looks like he is playing for Winamac. Maybe I have the wrong kid, but Xavier Adriano played for Winamac on Friday night.

New Sectional Assignments
Punttheball replied to Coach Edwards's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Executive Committee meets today. Will sectional assignments be released today? -
Tough dude. Brother, Mike, was a basketball guy. Didn't think football was his sport. He played be never thought that was going to be where he went at the next level. Then, no basketball scholarships were coming. Purdue offered in football. I think at one time he held the record for most starts in a career. Went on to have a nice career with the Titans in the NFL.

Losing one sectional round and gaining a 10th game which adds a home game every other year will add more revenue to the schools. In 2022, Rochester traveled to Seeger game 1, Benton Central game 2, and then had a home game against LCC. There was a bye in the other bracket, LCC played Delphi game 1, Cass game 2, and then Rochester. After expenses, I'm guessing each school received a $200-$400 check maybe less. I do believe, after the sectional round of play, schools are only given reimbursement checks. No revenue generated from regional, semi-state, or state games is given back to the schools.

Illinois is an example that uses 32 teams in every class. I don't think private schools are allowed into their state playoffs. Doesn't matter. This would have to narrow the gaps in enrollment from the top of the class to the bottom. The success factor can still be in the equation. Just a thought. I think the opportunity to play a 10th regular season game would be very enticing to 10-team conferences. This would allow for an out of conference game along with playing each conference team in the regular season. It may encourage some conferences to expand to 10 teams.

Romison St. Louis Out at Elkhart
Punttheball replied to Bobref's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Why a stunner? Am I missing something? Munster got one of the good ones. Elkhart lost out. Coach is a great leader of men and will do a great job leading the program. -
23-24 DOE Enrollments
Punttheball replied to HoopsCoach's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
It is interesting when there are coaches that know the alignments a week before they are announced! I think the long gap in time is for lobbying to take place for certain alignments. Also, it is difficult to justify the large salaries of the IHSAA commissioner and his minions if the process was done and completed in a weekend. I think Illinois is able to finish the season, determine what 256 teams qualified for the playoffs, classify them by enrollment into 8 classes of 32, and seed all 8 classes in a single weekend! -
