Whoops. Washington is a 4A school and would bump up to 5A if they got all of Clay’s students. However, that’s obviously highly unlikely. If Riley were to somehow get that many students, they would likely replace Fort Wayne North who has been shrinking lately. Of course, this is all contingent on whether the most recent trends hold or if some schools take on bigger growth/losses than expected.

With 5A being at 31 teams thanks to the last second move by the IHSAA of Fort Wayne Dwenger from 5A to 4A, it seems like East Central could be a simple addition. Just move McCutcheon and Harrison (WL) back to the north half and bring Anderson down to the south half to make it 16 and 16. However, South Bend Clay getting closed down after this year makes things interesting. Back in April, the school corporation up there was planning on letting the families decide whether they wanted to send their approximately 778 kids to Adams, Riley, or Washington. Not sure if that’s still the case. Whatever the case, Adams taking on 150-200 students bumps them up from 5A to 6A and likely brings down Fort Wayne Northrop, Warsaw, or Jeffersonville. Riley would likely need 500 or more of Clay’s students to bump up from 4A to 5A. Washington would only bump up from 3A to 4A even if they got all of Clay’s students. In other words, as easy as it seems it’ll be to predict how 5A is going to look, we still won’t have a good picture until the new enrollments come out in the spring.

A regional title means they’re gonna have to go through East Central (who likely gets bumped up to 5A after this year) and the Bloomington schools or East Central and Whiteland/Franklin.

Crazy stat for you guys. This is the first time in HHC history that every HHC team will be playing in the second week of the postseason.

Branden Braun played only one half for Jennings County. He had 21 carries for 281 yards and 6 TDs. Edgewood couldn’t stop the run to save their life. First postseason win for Jennings County in seven years.

I don’t think there is. Haven’t noticed any fans of those other teams this year except for the few and far between times Jennings County fans post in the Hoosier Hills Conference thread.

Weird. Not sure how I missed out on it then.

Loved Coach Bland. He was an assistant football coach, P.E. teacher, and a weightlifting teacher during my first three years at East. He was also my sprint coach at East on the track team. Absolutely hated when he left. Senior year of track wasn’t the same. The whole tone changed.

Where else would you put them in this hypothetical scenario?

To be fair, it makes sense why they’re in the same sectional with Eastern Greene if you look at a map pinpointing all current 1A schools.

Just out of curiosity, how long has this term been in use? It’ll be 17 years next May since I’ve been in high school. Not saying you are wrong or anything. If it was in use by the IHSAA at the time, I’m just surprised that the term wasn’t used by my team and coaches and that it was never used in any conversations I had with opponents or overheard when I participated.

@Bullhorn99 is correct although I never heard the term “seeding” used to assign lanes. I guess it’s technically not incorrect because it is indeed a seeding of sorts. Just wasn’t a term that was used.

This week’s games (week 10 - sectional quarterfinals): Edgewood (2-7) at Jennings County (4-5) BNL (6-3) at Evansville Harrison (1-8) Notes -This will be the first time ever Jennings County and Edgewood have played. -This will be the fourth meeting ever between BNL and Evansville Harrison. Ironically, every game has been in the first round of sectionals. Harrison won at home in 1990, BNL won at home in 1991, and Harrison won at home in 1993. The road team has always lost so hopefully BNL bucks that trend.

I’ll just go ahead and say it. Northern Indiana has better depth than southern Indiana when it comes to football. That’s not to say southern Indiana doesn’t have good teams but we don’t have as many of them. For whatever reason, it’s most evident at the 3A level (real or hypothetical) right now.

I’m not aware of any sport seeding the teams/participants except for wrestling. Unless something has changed since my high school days in the mid-2000s, I was on the track team and we never had seeding for any meets (regular season or postseason).
