Sure. All Schools should be humble. You never know when a Friday night could be your turn for a 50 point massacre.

I made a T-shirt in High School directed at how much we (Penn) does not like our cross town rivals at Mishawaka...I put at the bottom, that it isn't about the numbers we are just better than you....not so humble...but we had not lost to Mishawaka in over 30 years at the time. In this specific case, numbers 100% help us, but at the same time top to bottom we were better than them. Coaching, training staff and players were all better than our counter parts.

Sounds similar to Snider/Luers.

Technically Powlus III was a D1 guy right?

Warren has never lost in the football state championship game.

He was a walk on

I'll allow Ron Powlus on a technicality, although he wasn't your typical D1 scholarship qb. You know, that reminds me that Tommy Powlus (LB) will be a preferred walk-on at ND, and Jake Balis (RB) will be a preferred walk-on at Vandy, so there's that––even though both have connections. But the other guys I mentioned were recruited and on scholarship from the start.

It's an impressive tradition. They're a tough nut to crack.

For some reason, I'm almost certain, they had him on scholarship. Couldn't understand it at the time since his father's education benefit was surely vested by then.

Better athletes? Are kids bigger and faster in Indy than kids throughout the rest of the state? None of this adds up. The only difference between Ben Davis and Merrillville is enrollment. That's it. Carmel and Valpo........enrollment. Warren Central and Snider......enrollment. There are no other differences in those programs. If those northern programs had the same amount of kids that the three Indy schools do, would they have the same amount of state championships? That's an easy "yes."

So answer my question: who was the last kid Penn sent D1? If you think Penn stacks up athletically with a majority of the teams from Indy, well you can certainly enjoy that take.

You Indy fans are getting your feelings hurt because someone is willing to point out the obvious. No one is saying your programs aren't good down there. We're just stating that their is an obvious advantage over your competition. Jeffersonville, Harrison, and Portage will never be afforded the opportunity to stare at a trophy case with nine titles in it. The cards are stacked heavily against them. But that's OK, northern teams enjoy the challenge of breaking through and getting that "one".

Looking forward to the day when schools ranked 6 through 10 in enrollment win nine straight titles. But we can all agree that it will never happen.

Center Grove has won 4 out of the last 10 large class state titles and finished runner-up two additional times, despite not being in the top half of their enrollment based classification. Save your excuses.

Since I can't get anyone to comprehend that the chances of finding a D1 caliber football player out of a pool of 4000 is better than a pool of 2500, I'll just end with this. Good luck to all programs. And for the 45th year in a row, the state title will go through an Indy Mega School.

Don't get all giddy about kids being bigger and stronger in Indy. The food and water is no different there than it is anywhere else. But if you want to go down that road, we can talk about which area of the state sends most kids to the NFL per capita. I honestly don't want to go down that road. Let's just look forward to the season and enjoy how it plays out.

Which one? There’s about 10 of them now.

The Big 3 of course. Carmel, Ben Davis, and Warren Central. Word on the street is that it's the Giants and Warriors this year.

So you can’t name a single player. Penn is as talented as the MIC schools, face it. They don’t send kids to D1 schools like the MIC does.

Why are you calling Penn out as a victim? They have 5 titles.

Because they’re a shell of the program they used to be. They’ve been passed by 10-15 schools in the last 25 years. You made the claim, not me, and refuse to cite any anecdotal evidence.

Researching Penn is a pain in the a$$. Penn State keeps popping up, lol. I'll pass and leave your question to the Penn experts. Let me ask you this: If Ben Davis produces five D1 guys and Penn produces ten D2/D3 guys, does that make Ben Davis more talented?

No, because BD likely has 5 more D2/D3 kids also.

Misread your question…yes.

BD with 5 D1 kids and 5 more D2/D3 kids is better than Penn with 10 D2/D3 kids in this hypothetical scenario.

And it's probably 5 D1 kids and 10-15 D2/D3 kids including kids who could play D2/D3 but choose not to for whatever reason.

Or play at the next level in another sport.

From the outside, I would say success in high school football comes down to coaching, coaching and coaching. That feeds into coaching support at the lower levels feeding into the high schools, more so 5-10 years ago and earlier before the transfer movement,

No, Saban is a good college coach. He sucked in the NFL. So coaching from high school to college and NFL are different. You should know that. If not ask Gary Moller or Lou Holtz

Give him 10 years to suffer through all the success factor stuff and He will be winning 6A titles in no time. He may be in a wheel chair or hooked up to a machine by that point, but he will be winning nonetheless.

I’m honestly not sure if you are being serious or this is satire.

Good question 😀!! I'm serious on the content, just because a coach is successful at one level doesn't mean he will be successful at a different level. In most cases it is when a coach goes up in level (Saban, Holtz, Rhule, Spurrier, Moller, Callahan and many more) that they are not as successful as they were before. Not sure when a coach drops a level especially from college to high school, I don't recall any. So Saban to Edinburgh sounds great, he may or may not make a difference I guess ??
