Ironically Cathedral ended last season against Ben Davis and will play them the first game this season.  It's the first tough test for the Irish with a schedule full of tough tests.

I'll be at this game Friday night. Fort Wayne is too far from home for me

Be sure to pick up your tickets ahead of time. Ben Davis is cashless. Don't yell at me. Just the messenger.

Should be a good game, PHJ! Enjoy the evening on the Westside!

Already purchased my ticket yesterday in advance. Can't wait to show my support for the Purple and White

I live on the westside, in fact I live only 2 miles from BD.  My tickets are in hand and I'm anxious for gametime.

I don't mind cashless but if they stop selling tickets before halftime is where I have an issue.

Is there a cutoff time for this game?

Irish are winless in our last 15 games with Ben Davis going clear back to the 80's. Always had our number. Irish defense is very senior laden. QB and O-Line are Irish concerns. Irish RB (Jaylen Bond) and WR (Slaughter and Albron Johnson) are good.

Surprised how small the Ben Davis O-Line is. I think I'm betting the points under in this one.

Not a winning combination against a team like Ben Davis. Here’s to keeping tonight competitive and hopefully (remaining) injury free, heard the latter is a big concern after camp.

Fab performance by the Irish. We actually ran the damn ball. Kept it close in the first. Scoop and score at the Irish 5 to end the half for the 17-0 dagger. Irish D looked strong. One down lineman on D for quite a few plays.

Zachary with a miracle 100 yard defensive return for Giants to get on the board. Monkey off the back. Brownsburg, @St.X. @Chatard in the next three. If we can compete, we have a contender.

Never underestimate the Irish coaching staff!  They're as good as any staff in the state of Indiana.  This score is not indicative of the closeness of the game.  Ben Davis moved the ball, but their offense was held scoreless.  The Irish played it a bit loose at the end of the game.

Next up, Brownsburg at Marian University.  It doesn't get any easier!

Great game for the Irish, Bonds is a stud he just needs to stay healthy this year.  BD had a lot of penalties and misses opportunities but hats off for Irish to capitalize.  Schedule is a monster this year as they have Brownsburg next week @ Marian College.

Just saw this. They cut off tickets at 6:00 pm when the gates open.

Agree. The coaches had a great game plan, and they stuck to it. Should have been 31-0, but Mark Zackery saved the Giants' bacon. Classic thumping. Credit to Cathedral for bringing the Giants back down to Earth a little. I think the loss may help them, and hopefully we'll see these two again in the Regional. All three phases performed well last night for the Irish. Congrats on finally ending that 15-game losing streak over the last 37 years to Ben Davis.

Thanks for your added viewpoint.  Yes, the Irish played quite well, and it was good to get the Giants in week one.  They will get much better with that much talent.  The Giant QB looked like a good one, but their running game never got going.  Hope to meet again in the Regional.

I also appreciated how the Irish celebrated their victory. They were pure class. Credit to the school and their fans.

I've seen a lot of Cathedral football since 1955.  Papa Joe Dezelan would be quite proud of the Irish game plan last night.  Papa Joe didn't like throwing the ball a lot.  He would have loved the effort too.

Also, welcome home Doug Armstrong. Best defensive schemer in the state. Barth plus Army = success.

Terry Taphorn spent 6 years as Irish DC, and revamped the Irish defense that Adam Barth still utilizes today.  In fact Coach Tap was probably the best DC at both Ben Davis and Cathedral.

It is good to have Doug Armstrong back and he showed that he will be a big addition to the already loaded Irish coaching staff.  As I stated above, I believe the Irish staff is as good as any in the entire state.

I believe Taphorn also was at Speedway for a spell. Good person.

He's a good friend of mine.  Oh, and I went to Cathedral with Dick Dullaghan.
