East Central vs Martinville 5. Decatur Central vs Roncalli - Pick em 6. Castle vs Columbia City 7. Valpo vs Brebeuf 8. Warsaw vs East Noble 9. Plainfield vs Leo 10. Michigan City vs Reitz If you are taking Brebeuf over Valpo, I think it makes more sense to take Roncalli over Decatur Central as opposed to pick 'em. Quote

I know this was not my post. I did take Roncalli over DC. Decatur Central has always had talent but they can be so up and down it is hard to gauge them. They do on occasion play undisciplined at times and can get some untimely Personal Foul penalties. I picked Roncalli because 1) Roncalli is much improved over last year 2) Roncalli won't beat themselves and has very good discipline. I take Roncalli by the slimmest of margins instead of making it a pick-em. DC definitely has loads of potential. The manner they lost to Columbus North and the comeback they allowed Martinsville to have to beat them were head scratchers. 1 Quote

New Palestine Vs. East Central - I definitely could say pick-em but EC graduated a lot from last year 2. Chatard Vs. Decatur Central 3. Columbia City Vs. Castle 4. Roncalli Vs. Concord 5. Martinsville Vs. Laff Jeff - Pick-em 6. East Noble Vs. Merrillville 7. Mishawaka Vs. Plainfield 8. Brebeuf Vs. Bloomington North 9. Greenfield Central Vs. Bloomington South 10. Ev Reitz Vs Whiteland - Pick-em Hard to argue these picks. I would argue that Sagarin probably not the best poll to use for the Top 10 right now. I'd trust Sagarin a little bit after sectionals. I only used Sagarin a a base for a top 10 to compare the 2 classes and with Calpreps down it was not available. Quote

Everyone has their own barometer by which they use. I have nothing against Sagarin, it's fun to see what the computer says. It's just loaded with flaws. Case in point: Columbia City's 70-0 win over New Haven. That's great for Sagarin, it launched the Eagles all they way to #13 overall in the State of Indiana. Now, we all know that Columbia City isn't the 13th best team in the state. What if Brownsburg would have played New Haven? They would have taken a 49 or 56 point lead into halftime, then run out the clock. I doubt they would have punished the Bulldogs to the tune of 70pts. Last year Brownsburg purposely gave themselves a goose egg against Dwenger in the second half. Classy move by their staff. Although fun to look at, the Sagarin system is flawed. Quote

WCGrad92 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I am pretty sure the rankings on MaxPreps use the Maxwell Freeman Rankings like CalPreps did, so you can go see those rankings if you cared. Quote

Calpreps has Columbia City at 31. I took the top 10 from 4A vs top 10 5A from Calpreps rankings through the projections on Calpreps. It was intriguing to say the least and we would never see the results. The projections give a Regular season and a playoff result and give you the percentage. There are a few pick-ems. Now these are not my picks just what came from the projection on Calpreps. Calpreps own projections are at 81.3% of all games played in Indiana so far. 1. Chatard Vs Concord = Chatard 87% Regular 90% Playoffs 2. New Palestine Vs East Central = New Pal 65% Regular East Central 57% Playoff 3. Roncalli Vs Decatur Central = Roncalli 53% Regular Decatur Central 53% Playoff 4. Martinsville Vs Merrillville = Martinsville 62% Regular 57% Playoff 5. Brebeuf Vs Laf Jeff =Brebeuf 73% Regular 60% Playoff 6. Mishawaka Vs Plainfield = Plainfield 53% Regular Mishawaka 53% Playoff 7. Columbia City Vs Castle = Columbia City 65% Regular 62% Playoff 8. East Noble Vs Whiteland = East Noble 59% Regular 65% Playoff 9. Leo Vs Valparaiso = Valparaiso 53% Regular Leo 53% Playoff 10. Northwood Vs Bloomington South = Bloomington South 61% Regular Northwood 53% Playoff 1 Quote
