As much as I want to see Penn win this game, CP rolls to a 35-14 victory

This is about where I have it based on seeing Penn in Week 1 and Week 11, and seeing CP a few more times than that.

Snider/Penn games used to pack both sides of the field despite the two hour drive. I think both fan bases miss that as they were always regarded as the two Northern powers. Fort Wayne vs South Bend if you will. They've played 15 times with Penn holding an 8-7 advantage. Most of those games were played in a span of two and half decades. So it was almost expected that the two teams would play each other. Sportsmanship always seemed to be there as well. Again, it's a respect thing.

Agree. I also think there's a psychological preference for getting taken out by a team you're used to seeing in that position as opposed to rising programs like Crown Point and Carroll. Could just be me, though.

No one wants to lose to the new kid on the block. It is what it is though. There's a new sheriff in town to the tune of Crown Point and Carroll. Penn will get there, it's just a matter of finding the right guy to get them there. Maybe they already have it in their first year coach. Not so easy for Snider as their enrollment declined to 1900 students while watching Carroll, Homestead, Fishers, HSE, and Westfield explode.

Somewhat true..the Carroll fans who I've encountered are just the worst!! A couple years ago when they were going to state a guy says "hey, who is Snider playing tonight? Oh, that's right, no one" in front of group of others who laughed it off..I replied "just keep it within 21 pts" which they didn't..I ran in to him after the game n asked how was the blowout n he responded well cg is tough! Yeah no $&*! Sherlock! I stated Snider program has battled enough indy teams to know its another level..the fact this surprised them tells it all..not used to winning..Snider exacted revenge last year n he was quiet as a church mouse.. I have love for Dinan yet their fans that I've met just make it tough..maybe them n cp want what Snider n Penn have in the trophy case yet being humble in victory n defeat can be hard to teach adults.

Rant over n get off my lawn!

How many years in a row can we say “Penn will get there?”

Sorta resembles Nebraska football…

Well, I think Nebraska will get there. Like Penn, the fan base is passionate enough to persevere and do what they can until power is restored.

Or notre dame 😑

Notre Dame is already there. They've proved that they are a perennial Top 10 team. Once you have power, it's hard to relinquish it. Hence Penn and Nebraska's dire need to get it back. I have to admit, Nebraska is really teetering on an irrelevant program that deserves nothing. Penn's not even close to being there. If Michigan posted a losing record 20 years in a row, they'd still have a sense of entitlement. Thirty years in a row and you're a has been. See Army.

Ehh not playing a big ten or sec schedule every year absolutely helps with their "top 10" image

Get where exactly ? How many teams not named CG,BD, WC, or Carmel in 6A have gotten there?

C'mon. They're widely regarded as one of the top 6 or 7 current programs.

Back to winning meaningful games late in the season.

Thats the thing..they are always regarded as a top program yet besides the sun bowl n gator bowl they have gotten obliterated in major bowl games the past 8 years.. until they beef up their schedule I can't buy in.. I'll concede the 11th! 😆

Don't wanna hijack this thread, let's continue this at "The Next Level."

I'm not sure how good Penn's defense really is as they gave up a lot of points the first two weeks of the season. It was suggested that the defense has improve, hence the 7pts they gave up to Elkhart. The rest of their schedule is suspect.

Crown Point comes across as a no nonsense team that just goes about it's business. Looking at their schedule, I would conclude that their defense might be on par with Penn's. Maybe a slight advantage to CP. Offensively, they seem really consistent and should score enough points to win this game by double digits. I'll take Crown Point 28-14.

The 7 points Penn gave Elkhart came from a muffed punt .

Winning a Sectional championship is not meaningful anymore ? Have you ever won one ?

Yeah, a few.

And no, a program like Penn “winning a sectional championship” is not impressive.

It should be the floor/expectation.

I could cast a radius within 25 miles from where I'm currently sitting and possibly find a JV team that could hold Elkhart's offense to 7 points. One of the worst I've seen all year and Snider's defense didn't have anything to do with it. Last year Crown Point continuously took 14 point leads and Penn continuously struck back by easily passing the ball down field. I have a feeling this year it won't be so easy for Penn to overcome a large deficit. I would take CP by a minimum of 14 if they can contain the Penn O. Weather shouldn't be much of an impact as well.

Actually I haven’t…but since you’re so easily triggered I will now.

Crown Point 31-10.

I’m with both Boilernation and Temptation. This isn’t even a close game. CP will methodically beat them into submission. CP is for real!

I believe that CP wants to make a statement Friday. Although ranked high in 6A, they still are viewed by many as just another team from Lake County with a good record but not that talented. In many ways, like IU football this year. Penn is the old guard of the north and CP wants people to notice them in that regard.

The only way this game is close is if CP turns it over.
