That poll has just a little too much Indy flavor. I like my poll better at 11 & 14. I might concede a bit on New Pal, but not budging on Decatur Central. It's not a bash on those programs. It's more of a testament as to how strong 6A is. Again it's all subjective, but damn. New Pal's best players play offense, defense, and special teams. That's a recipe for disaster against 6A's best programs. Yeah, they did it in 18' & 19', but teams like that don't come around too often. Not to mention 6A is stronger now than it was six years ago. These teams just keep getting better and better. I think 6A's Top 10 would compete well against any state's Top 10 in the country...........I'm not sure I would have said that seven years ago. Quote

They remind me of Brownsburg (not as good of course). Watching them on film isn't the least bit intimidating, they just play to win somehow. Quote

Cathedral beat Bishop Chatard 31-7, at BC. New Pal also beat Bishop Chatard but had to scuffle to do so. 6A is a tough go. Oh, and we'll get to see the New Pal prowess in 5A next year. I'm sure they'll be their normal best, but Cathedral has a lot of good players returning. We shall see. 1 Quote

I mean we can all pick and choose what data to assess when doing our rankings and we can pick each team’s best or worst moment to validate our stance. Case in point, Decatur Central’s week one thrashing by Columbus North (early season which you stated holds less weight than October and November games) and their blowing of a 35 point lead against a Martinsville squad (that New Pal obliterated in the regional) a couple of weeks later. I know you don’t like the transitive property but if we are just looking at those two data points, it’s easy to justify a handful of teams between New Pal and Decatur Central in the rankings. Then again, Decatur Central and New Pal ended the their matchup in a 21-21 tie that was never finished so it is also reasonable to claim that the two teams should be side by side in the rankings. We all pick and choose how to produce our rankings and it’s all in good fun. Quote

At the end of the day, each of the six champions should be holding their trophy high saying "come one, come all." If the kids from Providence and Adams Central aren't saying "bring on Brownsburg," then their mindset is in the wrong place. 9 hours ago, Rodney said: many football teams over the years have watched chatard film and thought they werent intimidating and then friday night came Couldn't have said that any better. Not saying Chatard would’ve won this game healthy, but 2 captains and 4 defensive starters played through pneumonia that game. Not sure if outcome would’ve been different but score would’ve been closer. Quote

Considering Avon and Brownsburg are neighbors and bitter rivals, there is no love lost between these 2 schools. Avon is baffling to me when it comes to football. There is a ton of potential and plenty of athletes in the halls at Avon. It is almost as if Avon and Brownsburg have flip flopped. It was not that long ago that Avon was a top dog and Brownsburg was in the shadows of Avon but now they have totally switched. Coach had to change the culture at Avon. They have improved every year. 5 wins this past season was not beyond possibilities. But a broken collarbone for the QB in game 3 set the offense back. He returned in time for sectional. Quote

I knew Avon's QB was injured earlier in the year (I wasn't sure what the injury was), I did not know he came back for sectionals. Brownsburg was going to be a tough mountain for Avon to climb regardless. Where do you think the culture went wrong. The previous HC has had a good track record and has been a very solid coach. Even had success with Avon. A record of 92-56 over a 12 year period, the last 2 years they were 3-18. I for one would love to see Avon get back on track and stay there. definitely plenty of talent walking those halls. Quote

Playing in the toughest conference while boasting the highest FRL population in said conference is likely a contributor… (Ducks for incoming grenades…) Edited December 7, 2024 by temptation 1 Quote
