The two that applied a few years back: Jennings County and Madison. They fit the profile of the conference.

Jennings County and Madison should go to the Mid-Southern. To make room for this move Eastern and Salem would need to move to the Patoka Lake.

East Central could become a football only member of the Hoosier Heritage with Shelbyville leaving in 2026.

EC is in a pretty good spot, their current conference gives them the flexibility to go play natural rival Harrison, GCL power, and Indy area team, Roncalli typically which has become a pretty good rivalry. Limited travel for lower levels, why move?

Madison tried getting in the Mid-Southern a few years ago as well but the conference voted to table the idea. Clarksville leaving put them at 8 football members which is what they wanted in order to give each team a second non-conference game. Staying at 9 teams by adding Madison wasn’t something they were interested in.

They should join the Circle City Conference.  Its only a 1-1.5 hour drive and they only have to play 4 games a year to meet conference obligations.  In football, they have already played 1 or 2 of those conference members for the last 10-20 plus years (Chatard or Roncalli).  Add that they would be playing other non-football State Championship level teams during the regular season.

Not just Roncalli and Chatard. They had Geurin on the schedule for a couple of years as well. I would have loved to see Brebeuf play them with my family ties to both teams, but in general I think the additional travel might be too much. I know it's not that far but when I was playing, the drive to Greensburg always felt like it took forever. Having a couple of games where you travel to and from Indy would have been rough since by the time the game is over you just want to get home and go out with some buddies.

The Roncalli series goes back to Scifres/Ballart. I know they had great respect for each other. It’s turned into a nice rivalry. I know both schools love playing this series.

it looks like according to this article Harrison (OH) is looking to join an “Indiana Conference” after being rejected by some Ohio leagues.. this is most certainly referring to the EIAC.. EIAC posters, have any thoughts or opinions on this? Harrison would be an interesting fit in the conference.. overall they are pretty similar to East Central size and competitive wise. I know East Central would be an easy yes for Harrison to join, but how would the other EIAC schools feel about it? I’m not sure if they’d be a huge fan of it…

I say invite all four (Harrison, Mount Healthy, Northwest, and Talawanda). Put them in the big school division with East Central and Connersville. Lawrenceburg and Batesville go to the small school division. East Central could still schedule South Dearborn and Lawrenceburg in inter-divisional games and Roncalli in the non-conference. Still leaves another open spot in the schedule as well.

My opinion doesn’t matter but I thought it was fun to think about.

Pekin can bounce. I don't really see Salem leaving and I hope our conference doesn't vote JC or Madison in.

Only issue is Talawanda is joining an Ohio conference (SWBL) and Northwest and Mt. Healthy are being heavily rumored to the CMAC Red. I think this would be a move that includes Harrison only, although geographically and size wise Talawanda makes a lot of sense to me as well

I completely missed in the article that it said Talawanda had already found a conference. If Harrison were to be added, do you think the EIAC would be fine with an odd number of teams or do you think they would add another team just to even it out?

For the sake of keeping things simple for Football scheduling, I would think that the EIAC would prefer to bring in a even number of teams, in all other sports 9 schools isn't a problem really. A second team to come with Harrison would be tricky.. I honestly think if Taylor (OH) was looking for a home they would be a great option as they fit size wise and geographically, but they have a stable home for the time being. I think the only real option at this time would be adding Madison to the conference as they are independent I believe, but maybe as a football only member due to travel considerations. From there you can split the EIAC into two and have 1 crossover game so every one has 6 league games and 3 non league games (Harrison would have 4 non league games as Ohio is 10 weeks for football, they would have to find a week 10 opponent).

EIAC 1:

East Central

Harrison (OH)

Connersville

Batesville*

Lawrenceburg

EIAC 2:

Greensburg

Rushville

Franklin County*

South Dearborn

Madison (Football only)

I think overall this would work well IF kept to football only. But some schools might have concerns with travel to Madison.. You could swap Franklin County and Batesville to make travel a little bit easier, but I don't know if Franklin County would be thrilled to be in that division.

If Madison got added and Jennings County didn’t, there would be some hurt feelings here in Jennings County. Not everyone would be upset but there’s a growing number of folks that want to be in the EIAC.

Actually maybe Jennings county would make more sense than Madison. Overall they would be closer for a lot of EIAC schools.

EIAC 1:

East Central

Harrison (OH)

Lawrenceburg

Batesville

Jennings County

EIAC 2:

Connersville

Franklin County

Greensburg

Rushville

South Dearborn

Maybe this setup could work?

Interesting viewpoints.   I say this: football is merely a spoke in the hub system of high school sports.  Perhaps EC’s basketball, cross-country, track, volleyball programs happen to like playing against schools such as Franklin County as the football team can go independent…

I think football independent is the best route for them... although.... Lawrenceburg, Moeller, and Roncalli is a SOLID schedule to start. Wow that's solid.

Contract with Moeller ended last season.  This season it'll be @ Lawrenceburg, vs. Harrison, then @ Lawrence North.  Next year Elder replaces Lawrence North.  Also hearing this is the last year EC varsity will play SD.

That will open up another week for EC. So they’ll be down to only 5 EIAC games.
