Could we argue that Notre Dame would have come in at #4? The AP had them at #3. If it were a four team playoff, I really wonder if the committee would have placed Penn State ahead of the Irish.

Perhaps...AP had them 3.  CFB final rankings ND was 5th.  I agree..perhaps they make it in.  Ohio State certainly would not have made it in, and now they are a significant favorite in the championship game.

I was as excited about the new playoff format as anyone, but my one fear was that it would devalue the regular season and conference championship games and here we are…

The 4th place Big Ten team, who wanted its coach fired as recently as seven weeks, ago just ran the table.

Has the feel of March Madness more so then a regular season that matters… which is what used to make college football unique.

Now I will say I was intrigued by the ACC’s recent proposal…

1/2 play conference championship weekend for the auto bid but have two more games for CFP/an additional data point.

3/6 and 4/5.

Watching the first half of the Miami -Texas A & M game. Are you serious? Today, Notre Dame would beat either of these two like a red-headed stepchild. Woulda, coulda, shoulda… SMH

Knew this was coming.  So predictable.

Fact.

And depressing.

It’s almost like they already played these two teams and had their chance.

I believe this is called doubling down after your initial narrative (Bama) was debunked last night.

You two are a joke.

At the risk of repeating myself, I have no issue with Notre Dame not making the playoff. I’ve described it many times as a “self-inflicted wound.” Watching that debacle in College Station just drives it home deeper.

But not wrong.

“Notre Dame is a different team now than they were in September.”

Well, yeah so are Texas A&M and Miami’s defenses apparently.

See how this works both ways?  We could go back and forth all day.

Your metrics said that Notre Dame was the #5 team in the country and you didn't deny it. Something change?

Sure.  But didn’t we go away from the BCS over a decade ago?

Careful what you wish for.

Just saying that you didn't deny that Notre Dame was a Top 5 team. The objective side of you believes that the committee got it wrong. The other side of you enjoys stirring the pot and getting into a debate. Hence your hesitation to admit what's going through your mind, that Notre Dame is more than likely a Top 5 team. I kinda wish this was Michigan's year to win the championship. Imagine the fun we'd have for the next 12 months regarding the asterisk. I hate to do that to IU, but looking forward to doing it to Ohio State or Georgia.

It’s just so funny the different ways that people can look at things.

One of my best friends is an ND fan and just texted me this.

“I’m starting to think it was right to leave ND out. The two teams that beat them suck.”

Also, hard to have an asterisk when you go 15-0…😉

Nah, I think think these are two pretty good teams. Both deserving of a spot. At the end of the day, we all know what the real problem is here. I don't have a problem with anyone calling Notre Dame the 10th best team in the country, though I think they sit somewhere between 3-5 with a serious threat to be 1. The problem that needs to be fixed is Tulane and James Madison.

Not sure ND top 5 team this season. They had 2 losses. Watching the offenses in this current A&M vs Miami game, I’m trying to figure out how the ND defense gave up 27 and 41 points respectively to these 2 teams in those losses.

Remember, Chris Ash was in his first two games with Notre Dame. Freeman stepped in, made some adjustments, and playing much better the rest of the way. You didn't see that tutorial that Nick Saban gave on ND's defense  on game day a few weeks back? Pretty impressive they way he broke it down. Like I said, I'm not going toe debate anyone who doesn't think they are Top 5, but if one can't acknowledge that ND is Top 10, then that's a person that's probably not intelligent enough to warrant debating with.

Lol, you haven't been paying attention if you agree with that. C'mon Temp, like Bash, you're smarter than this. I shouldn't have to explain it again to you.

I see both sides of this issue but like the ND crying.  You nailed it above.

Keep entertaining me.

I’m not bashing. I agree top 10. Just not sure about top 5. They lost to pretty dang good teams. Had they won just one of those 2, they are playing this weekend.
