Attica @ Woofs – The Woofs are off to a strong start, sitting at 2-1 for the first time since the legend Moore retired. Make it 3-1 after this week. Give me PH by 40.

NV @ SV – County bragging rights are on the line. The Falcons showed flashes last week with a solid first half against Covington and I expect them to carry that momentum forward. Give me NV

Herb’s @ Covington – Not the start my Hall of Famer was hoping for. FC folks have their eyes on a WRC championship and being one of the top teams in 1A. But if I know Herb, I know he’ll have those boys ready to roll this week. BIG road win incoming. FC 35–16.

*It’s NOT time to ride into the sunset yet!!!

Game of the Week – Seeger @ RP – Seeger is playing some good football, but I don’t think anyone in the WRC can match the physicality of the Panthers. Must be something in those tenderloins… Both squads are scoring over 40 a game and allowing less than 7, but RP is just a different beast. RP wins 31–14.

And I’ll say this... if FC is healthy, I think that game last week against RP is much closer. I’d love to see a rematch.

Who was hurt for FC? No way even healthy the Herbs can match Riverton Parke. Sanders has built that program with grit and determination from the ground up. Might I add he is also the winningest coach in RP history. RP goes undefeated in the regular season easy.

Well, well, well.. We are finally back. Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed when the page got shutdown. Overall, I think there is one team who is going to steam roll the conference. If they can get past Seeger this week then they will roll through the rest of the conference.

Attica @ Woofs- Coach Dean is doing some great things up north, I just don't think he has the athletes to do what he wants to do. But I think he will compete with a few teams in the WRC this year. The Woofs are coming off of two wins against two really bad teams. I think the Woofs will start conference play 2-0 this week. Woofs 35 Attica 6

Herbs @ The Trojans- Herb and team played the Panthers tough last week. The Mustangs just couldn't hold their own against the Panthers size and strength. But I also heard that Foxworthy is hurt as well as a few others banged up. The Trojans wins have came against some really really bad teams. I think this week Herbie and the Mustangs take it to the Trojans. FC 35 Covington 12

North Vermillion @ South Vermillion- Not sure if I have many words for this game. Heard the  Falcons finished with 13 players last Friday.. SV has played some bad teams.. This one will either be an offensive shootout or a defensive battle.. SV ? NV ?

Seeger @ RP-  From what I heard RP has whipped it out and ran on all of their opponents. I also heard that they are spreading it out and throwing the ball a little bit... Seeger is undefeated as well coming into this contest but they again have played some not so good teams... RP handled them last year and I think it is still in the back of their heads. If RP plays like they have been they will handle business and then begin their road to the WRC Title.  RP 35 Seeger 14

Foxworthy (who is by far the best qb in the wrc and one of the best athletes) has a pulled hamstring. Starting running back didn't play last week and another lineman. Also heard Dodson who is all state linebacker was banged up. A good healthy team coached by Herb KING is beating the Panthers. How can you sit there and say that when FC is healthy they don't beat RP??

Not sure who your sources are... but you think the 28 point difference is made up by one player??? Heard the only score they gave up was a blown coverage. Didn't give up many yards after that.

I have seen Foxworthy play more than once. Very dynamic player.. potentially the best athlete in the conference. That could easily account for a few scores in the WRC. Don't get me wrong, they don't win with or without him against RP.

Because healthy or not, they couldn't beat Southmont or Crawfordsville either. RP is a multi TD favorite against both of those teams.

The WRC, which has a tremendous history of building 1A/2A powers, has to come to terms with the fact that RP has arrived.

They now have two choices. Get better, or get used to it.

No body would have won games with those rockville teams after 08, but yet he kept producing winning season after winning season. Once he got things going in the right direction at the mess in Seeger he got kicked to the curb over something that wasn't even true. Things are trending up at FC and now he's battling the injury bug.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. I think he has a losing record at Fountain Central...

Did you see the program he took over?! Complete dumpster fire. Now FC has some light on the end of the tunnel and it's all thanks to Herb King

Yes.   The Hall of Famer is 14-20 in his 3.5 years at FC.  This is after a 29-33 record at Seeger in 6 seasons there.   He's 43-53 in his last 10 seasons and 64-63 since his last 9-win season.  Overall, he's 203-166 in 35 seasons as a head coach at North Put, South Decatur, Rockville, Seeger and FC.   Give him credit -- He's won 3 sectionals, two regionals and a semi-state. (State final vs Sheridan.  Nick Zachary punted, kicked, ran, passed, defended, punt returned, and kick returned vs 11 Rox players to victory).   His time at Rockville was outstanding, but outside of that, his other four stops are barely .500 or below.   You'd have to be his relative to defend his last several years vs the mystique of The King.   Give me a program to build and win at and choice of a local WRC coach and I'm taking B. Moore, B. Crabtree, G. Barrett, B. Sanders, Ryan Good, and Travis Brown over the Hall of Famer.   Now, if you want your kids in the local media getting great PR, pre-season awards and a push for post-season awards, Herb is your man.  No one does it better and yes, it's part of today's environment.  Kids love it.

With the rosters that Seeger and RP have and the limited seniors on each, the light is flickering.

He's not taking over good programs. So, yes his record has taken a hit but he took over a Fountain Central team that in three years only won four games. Before that it was Seeger who didn't have any success since 2010. Rockville would at least compete with teams and as soon as he left they were bad. He takes over bad programs and changes the culture. As for your comment about taking other coaches over him. There's only three coaches that fall into the category with Herb. The other three would not do as great of a job as he does.

Last point you said was spot on though. He does a great job getting great PR

@ThePrince must be THE KINGS heir.. seems like the only valid reason for sticking up for him

What has RP done to be considered a power? Beat 1-2 Cloverdale, 0-3 Edinburgh and 0-3 Fountain Central...

0-3 FC, point proven or were they unhealthy week 1 and week 2?

Apparently you're new around here. And your head has been so far up Herb's butt to notice anyone else getting better than FC.

RP is 3-1 against Herb since his move to FC. Outscoring them 114 to 47, 80 to 13 the past two seasons.

Anyone who has been around the WRC for the last 10-15 years would recognize and tip their cap to what RP has done in that time frame and would need no explanation and would certainly not need to ask this question... please pay attention to reality...

I'm not discrediting them for the improvements they have made. They are a much better program now than they were 10-15 years ago

Looks like I'm a little late to the party...

Attica @ PH - It's amazing how much better and consistent you can be when your head coach is around. I'm not too surprised by their early success. Attica will play hard and make the Wovles struggle at times. PH 42-6

NV @ SV - Football is not looking good in Vermillion County for the first time in a long time. Both teams have struggled early on this year. I'll take the home team. SV wins 28-12

FC @ Covington - with all the hype in Fountain County this summer it might be time to ride off into the sunset... In all seriousness Herb does a good job with his teams......... Covington is going to stay undefeated and keep riding that high.. Covington 35-14

Seeger @ RP - Anyone who is discrediting RP doesn't know football. Sanders has done a great job flipping that program around. Ragan has also done a solid job at Seeger. I can see this being close for the first half. The second half will be all RP. They are too big, too fast and too physical. RP wins 38-20
