Basementbias
We have 48 Sectionals, thus we have 24 total regionals. Why not number these as well? I get not needing numbering after regionals. Just would make it easier to track from a fan's standpoint.
hhpatriot04
Perhaps the officials or assignees already do? @Bobref @Impartial_Observer

The sheet the IFOA sends out with the crew assignments collected does indicate Regional 1-24 and Semi-State 1-12. I assume those are just for reference though. crimsonace1
The IHSAA does number the regionals, but it's not really used as popularly since there are only four in each class. You'll notice the regionals numbered if you go to the IHSAA website. I believe the accepted style the AP (and thus print and broadcast) media use is to use the sectional number for that round, but to just refer to the following rounds as the "regional" and "semistate" without attaching a number. In basketball, the sectionals are also numbered, but I always only use the host school in naming the sectional ... e.g., "3A at New Castle" instead of "3A sectional 27." I think using the host school name in later rounds comes from the pre-class era basketball tournament when you knew where all of the sectionals, regionals etc would be played. Every year.
