23andCounting Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Six players with D1 offers, probably eight when it's all said and done with. These are high level 6A type of numbers. Are the Legends the team to beat in 4A? Quote
JustRules Posted June 24 Posted June 24 That's great to hear and hopefully signs of a successful season .Football is the ultimate team sport though so they'll still need to rely on teammates and the teammates sill need to step up and perfect. When many of the Indy teams are strong, they'll have 5-6 top D1 kids, but 20 others who are good enough to play D2/D3/NAIA. How deep is North? Quote

With that many guys going D1, I can only presume that they have a few other players who are D3/NAIA or better. Quote
adambetz Posted June 24 Posted June 24 How many D1 guys did they have a couple years ago when Tae Johnson was terrorizing the Summit City? They need to break the mold they have fallen into the past couple of years. TractionAP is pushing out talent like a Play-Dough Fun Factory and it just hasn't really come together completely for the Legends. When they have the QB to feed the weapons the weapons are hurt. When the weapons are ready its a down year a QB. Just weird stuff like that. Depth in the trenches is where they lose to Carroll and Homestead, yet their talent there is top end. They should be in the favorite hunt but can they put a full season together? They really haven't yet. Also, just up north in 4A, East Noble has a sophomore with an Ohio State offer. That week one matchup should be telling if the Legends are state contenders. Northside struggled with Concord and Mishawaka would be just as tough. Northside, Luers, Dwenger, Mishawaka, Hobart, Lowell, Yorktown, Delta, Kokomo, St Joe, Columbia City, Leo, DeKalb, NorthWood, and Northridge. Loaded semistate. I really hope the eventual winner is on this list lol 1 Quote

That's reserved for programs of 2800 plus. Snider's 2023 state championship had 3 or 4. I'm not sure the Legends have ever had more than three at a time. They'll find out fast Week 1 vs East Noble. Looking at their schedule, I'd say they have a 50/50 shot of going 7-0 heading into the Homestead game. Northrop, Luers, and East Noble will have something to say about that. Quote

Games are won in the trenches. High school is no different. It's why big enrollment schools are so difficult to match up with, more big boys to choose from. Quote

This year brings a North Side team loaded in talent (maybe the Jaylon Smith affect). But for now, this sectional belongs to Dwenger and East Noble. Week 1 brings some massive games with Dwenger/Roncalli and East Noble/North Side. Quote

I think it was mentioned before but it wasn't more than a few years ago they had a DUDE playing QB, RB, and a receiver too I think. I watched them play a game where at one point they were facing a 3rd and over 30 yards. Almost still got the first down on a broken play. 8 D1 guys is impressive. Doesn't always translate. Also know a lot of guys that have been tagged "D1" in the past that needed to be polished before being truly D1 playing ready. Looking forward to watching them with all that talent. Could be a fun team to watch. Hope they can avoid making silly mistakes that have haunted them in the past. Quote

And being #6 wouldn't mean they're not good, it just means there are some pretty good teams in the SAC. Quote

I assume Carroll the assumed #1 this next year? Snider still going to be down? Who do you think could be at those 2-6 positions with North? Quote

Snider could be dangerous, they're pretty healthy in the coaching department and skill guys.........it will come down to line play. Dwenger loses a lot, but feels like the program has momentum regardless. North Side and Northrop probably have the most raw talent in the SAC. Throw Snider, Dwenger, North Side, Northrop, and Homestead in a blender for 2-6. 1 Quote

Komets2727 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 My take on North Side, wake me when sectionals start for them. I don’t see them getting out of that sectional. 2 Quote

MacAttack53 Posted Monday at 07:20 PM Posted Monday at 07:20 PM I would rank the SAC as follows: Carroll Dwenger Snider Homestead Luers Northside Southside Northrop Wayne (Concordia) Quote
23andCounting Posted Tuesday at 02:09 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 02:09 PM I'll roll with 1. Carroll, 2. Homestead, 3. Dwenger, 4. North Side, 5. Snider, 6. Luers, 7. Northrop, 8. South Side, 9. Concordia, 10. Wayne Quote
Frozen Tundra Posted Tuesday at 03:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:30 PM (edited) With all due respect, y’all have to stop propping up Fort Wayne North Side like they’re some sort of state title threat. You’re making me dislike them like a certain someone makes me dislike Merrillville. Once they win a state title then have at it. Until then, it’s all just talk that they never live up to. With all due respect, the D1 guys aren't being exaggerated. So the North Side/Merrillville comparison is apples to oranges. And remember, X's and O's beat Jimmies and Joes. Just let the year play out and see what happens. Quote

I agree with FT, this insane propping up for North Side is tired and old. That school has done crap to deserve being propped. I don’t care if they have 35 D1 players like Merrillville, until they do something in the playoffs, they are paper tigers. 2 Quote
